TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Sajedi said plans have been implemented to control and extinguish the fire in Elit forest based on expert assessment which have fortunately achieved significant success.

Meanwhile, Governor of Mazandaran Mahdi Younesi said that the operation to control the fire in Elit forests is still ongoing.

Due to the topography, climate changes, and drought, the number of teams were increased to 40, he added.

He noted that 520 personnel, along with eight helicopters and two Ilyushin aircraft, are actively operating in the area.

Elit forests in Marzanabad caught fire twice. The first time, the fire occurred on November 1, 2025, and was eventually extinguished after several days of efforts by emergency forces. And, the second time, the fire broke out on November 15. By deployment of three helicopters and the efforts of emergency teams and local people, a significant portion of the fire in these forests has been contained; however, a small area is still burning.

Iran Records Highest Daily Death Toll From COVID-19

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK

TEHRAN – Iran has recorded its highest number of deaths from COVID-19 within a 24-hour period, Health Ministry figures showed on Tuesday.

The 200 deaths reported on Tuesday exceed the previous record from Sunday, when the ministry reported 163 deaths in a day.

The Islamic Republic has recorded a total of 11,931 deaths and 245,688 infections from the coronavirus, ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said in a statement on state TV.

Speaking at a presser on Tuesday about the latest data on the Coronavirus, Sima Sadat Lari said, “According to the definitive laboratory findings and from yesterday to today July 07 in the country, 2,637 new patients with COVID-19 were diagnosed and the number of patients with the disease reached 245,688.”

“1,455 of the new patients were hospitalized,” Lari said.

“Fortunately, 207,000 patients have recovered and discharged so far,” She said.

The Spokeswoman said: “Unfortunately, in the past 24 hours, 200 COVID-19 patients have lost their lives, bringing the total death toll to 11,931.”

The official stated: “3,270 patients are in intensive care units.”

“So far, around 1,846,793 COVID-19 diagnostic tests have been conducted in the country,” the Health Ministry spokeswoman said.

According to the spokeswoman, the provinces of Khuzestan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Hormozgan, Bushehr, Khorasan Razavi, East, and West Azerbaijan and Ilam are in a critical situation (Red Status).

The others such as Tehran, Fars, Mazandaran, Hamedan, Zanjan, Sistan and Baluchestan and Alborz are on alert.

Meanwhile yesterday Health Minister Saeed Namaki warned, “Coronavirus is one of the most dangerous and unknown viruses that have entered the human societies, and none of the world’s top virologists have predicted its future.”

Namaki said, “Due to the sanctions and many problems in the country’s economic situation, in the first phase of the disease, we had a difficult period and huge problems, thus with the help of all the people, non-governmental organizations and the sacrifices of the medical staff, we were able to create a great achievement. Death tolls reached about 30 people a day, and we were moving toward single digits mortality.”

“I have said many times that we are playing chess with an unknown virus and normalization of the situation and this delusion that the Coronavirus is over is one of the most dangerous ideas,” Saeed Namaki told reporters, adding: “A new wave has engulfed us in very important and border provinces, West Azerbaijan, Ilam, Khuzestan, Bushehr, Sistan- Baluchistan were affected.”

The Minister of Health said, “Today, we have reached a more favorable situation in provinces such as Kurdistan, Khuzestan, Bushehr, and Kermanshah, but it still does not mean that we have overcome the disease.”

“Wearing a mask and keeping social distancing can make us more than 80 percent immune against Coronavirus. We have to take social distancing seriously and not travel,”

Namaki called on all people to continue to fully and carefully implement health protocols in order to prevent the re-outbreak of the disease.

Warning that elderly people are more vulnerable to the COVID-19, the Health Minister reiterated that it is wrong to think that going to a party and leaving grandparents at home will keep them away and safe from the virus because when their grandchildren return from the party, they transmit the virus.

In a message to Major General Baqeri released on Saturday night, Ayatollah Khamenei said according to the received information, the flood-stricken people in the two provinces are in dire need of assistance and equipment of the Armed forces.

The Leader further asked him to order the dispatch of more equipment to the two provinces for relief operations.

Earlier on Saturday, General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces announced that its forces were planned to be deployed to the flood-hit areas to take part in the rescue operations.

Heavy rains have affected over 56,000 people in at least 70 villages in Golestan and more than 200 others in Mazandaran, according to local officials.

The flooding has claimed the lives of five people and destroyed hundreds of homes over the past few days.

High water has forced evacuations of several small farm communities as all farmland has been swamped, local reports said.

Footage from both provinces showed massive flows of water running over roads and streets, with cars being washed away, people struggling to walk, and traffic being disrupted.

It lies in the village of Shahan Dasht, 96km on the Haraz road (65km from the city of Amol) in the district of Amiri. It is visible once on the road.

The large permanent waterfall is located on the south side of the road and Haraz River and offers a magnificent landscape. It flows down on a pyramid-like mountain, beside the Malek Bahman castle, overlooking the village of Shahan Dasht.

On the heights overlooking the village, flows the 51 –meter waterfall, the largest in the province of Mazandaran. There are 3 waterfalls totally, about 180 meters high altogether. Over the main waterfall on the mountain lies the large castle of Malek Bahamn, also known as Malake Ghale. It was called Angel’s castle in the old days.

The 3000- year-old strong monument was built with stone and a mixture of milk, eggs and a kind of soil. To reach the waterfall a visitor should head off from the village of Vana, on the road leading to the village of Shahan Dasht. It takes about 15 minutes to walk there. There are parking lots in the village.
