TEHRAN (Iran News) The official X account of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has published a message following today’s courageous act by the people in southern Lebanon.

“All political & material calculations today have proven powerless before the faithful ppl of southern #Lebanon who weren’t moved in the slightest by the usurping Zionist regime army. The Lebanese ppl’s firm belief in God’s promise enabled them to put their lives on the line,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in a message published by his official X account on Monday.

The office of Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, has announced the extension of the November 2023 ceasefire deal in the Arab country.

The decision on such an extension was made after consultation with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and President Joseph Aoun and contact with the American side, according to Mikati’s office.

An executive committee will follow up on the implementation of the ceasefire deal based on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, the statement says.

As Lebanon requested, the US will start negotiating the release of those arrested by the Israeli regime since October 2023.

The ceasefire deal between Lebanon and Israel came into effect on November 27, 2024.

Additionally, some news sources announced on January 26 that the Lebanese people and the army of the country entered southern Lebanon despite the hindrance of the occupying regime’s military forces.

Based on the ceasefire deal, the 60-day deadline for complete exit of Israeli military forces from Lebanon was expired on Sunday, January 26.

Hezbollah says Lebanese nation will never surrender to enemy

TEHRAN (Iran News) Lebanon’s Hezbollah Resistance Movement has hailed the return of Lebanese residents to their homes in the south, saying that the nation once again showed that it would never give in to the enemy’s threats.

In a statement issued early on Monday, Hezbollah praised the resilience of the Lebanese people who stood up against all threats and aggression, highlighting their deep connection to their land and their steadfast role as guardians of national sovereignty, Lebanon’s Al Manar news network reported.

“Since 2000, this scene has repeated itself. Through their heroic resistance, our people continue to drive out the enemy, reaffirming once again that there is no place for an occupier on this blessed land,” the statement reads.

It also recalled the words of Israeli-assassinated Hezbollah Leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah who described people’s strength and determination as an “unbeatable point of power.”

The resistance movement issued the statement after groups of residents in southern Lebanon defied an Israeli order and returned to their villages on Sunday that marked the last day of a 60-day period during which Israel was obliged to withdraw from southern Lebanon as part of its ceasefire agreement with Beirut.

Israel missed the deadline and kept its troops in the south, claiming that Lebanon had not upheld its end of the agreement. Lebanon also accused Israel of procrastination.

In its statement, Hezbollah called on the international community and the guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to shoulder their responsibility regarding Israel’s violation of the deal, and force it to completely withdraw from Lebanon.

The ceasefire agreement in Lebanon initially took effect on November 27, 2024. The deal has now been extended until mid-February.

TEHRAN (Iran News) The anti-Israel operations involved attacking the regime’s forces in border areas and in the occupied territories to stop their advance, Hezbollah said in a statement early on Sunday.

Hezbollah also confirmed that it had conducted a second drone attack on Shraga military base in Acre in northern Israeli-occupied territories.

In another statement, the Lebanese resistance movement said that it had targeted a gathering of Zionist forces with exploding drones in Al-Khiyam Town, southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah also announced on Saturday night that it had destroyed an Israeli Merkava tank with a guided missile on the outskirts of Al-Jebayn settlement in southern Lebanon.

The border areas in southern Lebanon have turned into scenes of exchange of fire between the Israeli regime and Hezbollah fighters since the start of the war on Gaza in October 2023.

Also, since late September 2024, the Israeli regime has intensified its attacks against various areas in Lebanon, especially its southern regions.

In response, Hezbollah has begun carrying out different operations against Israeli bases and settlements to defend Lebanese territory and also in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

In many areas, protesters withdrew peacefully as the troops moved in. But in Beirut’s northern suburb of Zouk Mosbeh, a scuffle erupted on Tuesday when some demonstrators refused to move away.

The military efforts end to opening Beirut roads by withdrawing protesters in peace.

Since October 17, people have been taking to the streets in Beirut and other cities to express discontent with the government’s failure. Its impotence to find solutions for the country’s economic crisis. The unprecedented protests seem to have worsened by many wrong decisions. Such decisions are namely as planned taxes on gasoline, tobacco, and online phone calls, such as on WhatsApp.

According to the World Bank, more than 25 percent of the Lebanese live in poverty.

During the Monday talks, Jaberi Ansari said the Islamic Republic of Iran believes the success of its joint efforts with signatories to the JCPOA in order to preserve this multilateral international agreement and see Iran fully reap the benefits of the deal is a success for all countries in the region and in the world in countering the United States’ policy of unilateralism.

Jaberi Ansari further presented a report on Iran’s efforts within the framework of Astana talks to settle the political crisis in Syria. He also stressed that while major gains have been achieved in fighting terrorism, it is necessary to pay attention to the political and humanitarian dimensions of the Syria crisis.

He also said Iran and the other parties involved in the Astana talks will continue their constructive cooperation in the current stage to facilitate the process for the Syrian Constitutional Committee to begin work and speed up the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.

Jaberi Ansari also touched upon the meetings he had with the Lebanese president and parliament speaker, and said he conveyed a message from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to his Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun.

Bassil, in turn, referred to the pressures put on the regional countries, including Iran and Lebanon, saying the pressures are aimed at “securing domination over us.”

The top Lebanese diplomat touched upon Lebanon’s victories over Israel in 2000 and 2006 as well as the triumph over Takfiri terrorism which has benefitted Tel Aviv the most. Under the current circumstances, he said, the regional countries should stand by one another and against animosities.

Lebanon was plunged into crisis in November when Hariri resigned as prime minister while in Saudi Arabia, saying he feared assassination.

Lebanese officials accused the Saudis at the time of holding Hariri hostage. After international intervention, including by Macron, Hariri was able to leave the kingdom and eventually rescinded his resignation.

“If France wasn’t listened to then, there probably would be a war in Lebanon at this moment as we speak. It’s French diplomacy, it’s our action,” Macron said in an interview with broadcaster BFM TV, visibly irritated after being asked if his foreign policy over the last year had achieved anything, Reuters reported.

Macron said an unscheduled stopover in Riyadh to convince Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, followed by an invitation to Hariri to come to France, had been the catalyst to ending the crisis.

“I remind you that a prime minister was held in Saudi Arabia for several weeks,” he said.

Macron dined with Hariri and Prince Mohammed in Paris in April after a conference to rally international support for an investment program to boost the Lebanese economy.

Hariri, who visited Riyadh in February for the first time since the November crisis, is working to form a new coalition after a May 6 parliamentary election that strengthened Hezbollah and its political allies.

On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry denied Macron’s assertion that the kingdom held Hariri captive last November.

The Alliance of Palestinian Forces which is composed of several Palestinian political factions underlined that describing Hezbollah as terrorist by the Arab League serves the interests of the Zionist regime of Israel and the US and satisfies Saudi Arabia.

According to the Lebanon’s Arabic-language Al Mayadeen TV network, the Alliance of Palestinian Forces also described the Arab League statement against Hezbollah as dangerous.

The Alliance of Palestinian Forces stressed that Lebanese Hezbollah movement is the most important resistance force against Israel and terrorism.

Saudi Arabia has ramped up its campaign against Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement and tried to persuade most of the 22 member states of the Arab League to condemn Hezbollah, as a terrorist organization.

The Arab League foreign ministers had gathered at the League’s headquarters in Cairo Sunday for an emergency meeting called by Saudi Arabia.

Hundreds of Persian Gulf states citizens are leaving Beirut as quickly as they can, fearing the worst, Euro News reported.
“It is a matter of great concern to us. What we want is for peace to be preserved in Lebanon, it is essential that no new conflict erupts in the region, it would have devastating consequences,” he warned former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri who is in Saudi Arabia, from where he made his dramatic resignation prompted, say some, by foreign pressure. He claimed he was in fear of his life.
Hezbollah accused Saudi Arabia of declaring war on Lebanon and the Iran-backed group on Friday. He insisted the Saudis had twisted al-Hariri’s arm to quit and were detaining him to destabilize the country.
“If your problem’s with Iran, why attack, destroy and sabotage Lebanon just to prove your influence? We admit, you have influence, but if your goal is to defeat the Lebanese or the Lebanese resistance or political parties who refuse to obey you, then you are mistaken,” said Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
France is positioning itself as a broker between the Riyadh and Tehran, but neutrality may leave it with little leverage.

Tillerson Warns Against Proxy Conflicts
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson warned other countries Friday against using Lebanon for “proxy conflicts”, AFP reported.
Tillerson also called the premier, Saad Hariri a “strong partner” of the United States.
“The United States cautions against any party, within or outside Lebanon, using Lebanon as a venue for proxy conflicts or in any manner contributing to instability in that country,” Tillerson said in a statement.
Earlier Friday, while traveling in Asia, Tillerson told reporters he had received assurances from the Saudis that Hariri himself had decided to resign.
Tillerson also said he had no indication that Hariri was being held against his will in the oil-rich kingdom.

Concern Over Stability
But he also expressed concern over what effect the resignation might have on the stability of the Lebanese government, which is composed of Christians and both Shiite and Sunni Muslims.
Tillerson said this structure had been able to maintain some degree of calm and peace in Lebanon, and that if this balance of power were disrupted, things might change.
“The United States strongly supports the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Lebanon and of its political institutions” and opposes “any actions that could threaten that stability,” Tillerson’s statement on Friday reads.

Call for Clarity Over Hariri
Lebanon’s president called on Saudi Arabia on Saturday to clarify the reasons preventing Hariri returning to Beirut, his office said, TRT reported.
“Lebanon does not accept its prime minister being in a situation at odds with international treaties and the standard rules in relations between states,” President Michel Aoun said.
Aoun also told Saudi Arabia’s envoy to Lebanon on Friday that Hariri must return to the country, Lebanese media reported.
