TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appreciated the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei for ordering the Armed Forces to establish special headquarters to combat the novel coronavirus outbreak.

In a meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s leader, said the current situation in the Middle East stems from sedition fomented by the United States and its allies.

“The only way to deal with this (the US sedition) is to rely on inter-regional cooperation in the Middle East,” the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said regional countries should foster their cooperation even though “some who have come to this region from the other side of the world does not favor” such collaboration.

“Countries and nations in the region no longer accept such authoritarianism and interference,” he said.

For his part, Sheikh Tamim echoed a similar stance, saying regional cooperation should increase and the countries of the region should engage in “all-inclusive dialogue”.

“This means that Americans should first apologize to the Iranian people and return to the JCPOA, then remove sanctions and build trust. Also, they should implement their commitments to open the path of negotiations, otherwise, there will be no talks with the US,” he added.

US administration unilaterally withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action back in May 2018 and then, imposed severe sanctions on the country’s economy. Washington has implemented ‘maximum pressure’ policy against Iran in order to force the country to renegotiate the JCPOA and add some other paragraphs to it, including limitations on Iran’s missile program. Tehran has dismissed the possibility of such talks, noting that if US wants to negotiate, it must first come back to JCPOA which they have already violated and also remove illegal sanctions.

Nanvakenari went on to say that the remarks by the Islamic Revolution Leader on Tuesday carried a ‘clear’ message to the world, adding, “America is aware of our stance but its arrogant behavior doesn’t let it understand such a message; whenever they abandon this behavior and consider these conditions, the path is open, provided that US officials come to their senses.”

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei said on Tuesday that “If the Americans back off and repent, and implements the nuclear deal from which they have withdrawn, then they can also take part in and talk during negotiations between Iran and the countries that are part of this deal. Otherwise, there will be absolutely no negotiation between the officials of the Islamic Republic and the US at any level; neither in New York nor anywhere else.”

Referring to different stances of US officials regarding talks with Iran, Ayatollah Khamanei said “Sometimes they call for negotiations with no preconditions and other times they talk of negotiations under 12 conditions. These contradictory remarks are either a sign of their confused policies or is a trick to confuse the other side. Of course the Islamic Republic will not be confused since our path is clear and we are aware of what we do.”

US’s aim for negotiations is not to find a fair solution but to impose its ‘insolent demands’ on Iran, he said.

“US aims to prove to all that maximum pressure has worked and that officials of the Islamic Republic were forced to come to the negotiating table despite previously saying ‘we won’t negotiate’. [And] so [to prove that] the only way to face Iran is through maximum pressure.”

“If America takes back its words and repents and returns to the nuclear deal, which they have violated, they can take part in the meetings of signatories to this agreement with Iran. Otherwise, no negotiation on any level will happen between officials of the Islamic Republic and America, neither in New York nor anywhere else,” said Ayatollah Khamenei said, in reference to foreign media speculations of a possible meeting between President Rouhani and Trump on the sidelines of the upcoming UNGA meeting in New York .

“In political and legal sides, our JCPOA partners do not fulfill their commitments but we can make good reactions in the technical sector,” he said.

Salehi noted that Iran’s cooperation with Europe, Russia and China continues under JCPOA but the time is not ripe to judge about future.

He also informed that the construction of a research center on separation and development of the applications of stable isotopes began at Fordow nuclear facility in Qom on Tuesday.

The research center on separation and development of the applications of stable isotopes will be built next to the vacuum tech center, the first phase of which was inaugurated by President Rouhani in April this year. The research center will be using various methods such as distillation and heat exchange to separate the isotopes. Its first phase is planned to be completed on 8 April 2020, concurrent with the country’s National Nuclear Technology Day, and the second phase is scheduled to be completed in mid-May of the same year. The center will be equipped after September 2020.

Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), entitled Iran with the right to enrich uranium at a certain level. After US withdrawal from the deal in May 2018, Trump administration imposed several sanctions against Iran, one of which targeted enriched uranium and heavy water sales of the country.

Since the implementation of this unilateral measure, Iran has stocked all its enriched uranium and in early July, IAEA confirmed that Iran’s stockpile of uranium has exceeded the 300kg limit agreed in the deal. Iran is reducing commitments to the nuclear deal in a step-by-step and transparent manner to create a balance since other parties have so far failed to adhere to their commitments. Tehran says all its measures are reversible as soon as other parties can safeguard its economic interests from damages US unilateral sanctions.

Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi said on Tuesday that Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile has reached 370 kilograms.

“We are producing [enriched uranium] with a good capacity and our stockpile is 60 to 70 kilograms above the 300kg [limit] and this amount is growing fast,” he said on the sideline of a ceremony which marked the construction of a research center on separation and development of the applications of stable isotopes at Fordow nuclear facility in Qom.

In the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Saudi and UAE coalition have committed big crimes in their aggression on Yemen, while stressing that their attempts in Yemen will definitely fail.

The Iranian Leader said that the Saudi-led coalition seeks to partition Yemen along with religious and ethnic lines, stressing the need for firm support for preserving Yemen’s territorial integrity.

He also said that given the religious and ethnic diversity of Yemen, preserving its territorial integrity needs Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue.

Elsewhere in his remarks in the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed his condolences and congratulations on the martyrdom of Ibrahim al-Houthi, brother of the leader of Ansarollah Houthi Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.

The Leader also hailed the resistance of Yemeni people against foreign aggression and predicted a bright future for the Yemeni nation.

He went on to condemn the western countries’ turning a blind eye on crimes in Yemen and Palestine, describing resistance with reliance on Allah’s help as the only way ahead.

Also in the meeting, the head of the Yemeni described the leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei as in the continuation of the Velayat of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Imam Ali (AS) and Imam Khomeini (RA).

Expressing his gratitude for the support of the Leader of the Islamic Republic for the oppressed nations, especially the oppressed Yemeni nation, Mohammad Abdul Salam said that the Yemeni nation’s resistance will continue until final victory.

The Leader emphasized, “certainly, try to pay due attention to the meaning of the prayers. Be careful to see what it says. Not just sit and think about it [prayers]. Just when you speak, know that you are speaking to an audience and understand the meaning of that word and prayers of Imam Sajjad (AS) on the Day of Arafa.”
