The “Guardians’’ Day” falls on the 3rd day of the lunar month of Sha’ban and coincides with the birth anniversary of the Third Imam of Shia Muslims, Imam Hossein (PBUH), who made great sacrifices in the Battle of Karbala and ingrained resistance to tyranny and injustice in hearts and souls of his followers for centuries.

Previously, Ayatollah Khamenei said the role of the Iranian youth in the country’s progress and ensuring a successful future is becoming clearer day by day.

“The Iranian youth’s resolve, motivation, and hopefulness after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic provided the impetus for scientific and practical breakthroughs, like in many other fields,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted, according to Tasnim.

“It is one of the Islamic Revolution’s greatest glories that it has been able to pin the medal of ‘role-playing in fundamental issues’ to the chest of the country’s vigorous young people,” the Leader said in the message, read by Hojatoleslam Ahmad Vaezi at an online meeting of the association.

Ayatollah Khamenei also urged the Iranian youth to obtain more scientific, religious, and ethical qualifications and get ready to play a greater role in the country.

With each passing day, the importance of the role of the youth in the development of the country and guaranteeing its future is becoming more and more apparent.

The coronavirus pandemic proved this once again. The enthusiasm, motivation, and joyful hope of the youth in this matter, like many other issues in the country, led to scientific and practical openings.

This is one of the greatest honors of the Islamic Revolution, which has been able to give the opportunity to the honorable youth of the country to play such vital roles.

Dear students, in this precious opportunity that is available to you, you are expected to adorn yourself as much as possible with scientific, religious, and moral competencies and prepare yourself to play great roles.

The Union of Islamic Students Associations has a heavier, and of course more honorable, task in this regard.

Ayatollah Khamenei further lauded the late senior cleric’s role and contributions in the Islamic studies, including writing numerous books and training top students, and prayed to God to bestow divine forgiveness and blessings on him and elevate his ranks (in the Heavens) to the highest.

Ayatollah Mesbah-Yazdi, who was the head of Imam Khomeini Educational and Research Institute and Member of Assembly of Experts, passed away at the age of 86 on Friday evening.

He had also served as the chairman of the Supreme Council of Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly and one of the lecturers of Qom Seminary.

He also congratulated the nurses on Nurse’s Day, expressing his condolences to the families of the nurses who lost their lives in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

“I congratulate all nurses on the National Day of Nurses — which is named so after Lady Zeinab (a.s.) — and I feel it my duty to express my condolences to the dear and respected families of nurses who lost their loved ones to the COVID-19.”

Referring to the great work that nurses are doing in containing the spread of deadly diseases at the present juncture, Ayatollah Khamenei said that their heroic work made people realize the importance and high value of their jobs.

“Nurses are the angels of mercy for the patients. This is a true metaphor and not an exaggeration at all. Nurses take care of both the body and soul of the patient. Nurses are in fact sympathize with, caress, and comfort the patient.”

Zaynab Bint Ali (PBUH), daughter of Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH) and Fatimah al-Zahra (PBUH), was the first granddaughter of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

She is best known for her courageous and eloquent role supporting her brother, the second Shia Imam Hussein, at the time of his martyrdom in the Battle of Karbala, and for protecting his family in the following months of Umayyad imprisonment.

In Iran, Hazrat Zaynab’s birthday is commemorated as Nurse’s Day due to her efforts and sacrifices to take care of children such as Imam Hussein’s son Ali Zayn al-Abidin and those wounded in the Battle of Karbala.

He called Martyr Soleimani the hero of the Iranian nation and the Islamic Ummah, saying, “The funeral of martyrs Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in Iraq and Iran was the first severe slap in the face to the Americans but a tougher slap is software overcoming the absurd hegemony of arrogance and expelling the United States from the region.”

“Of course, revenge must be taken from the assassins of Gen. Soleimani, and this revenge will be definitely taken whenever possible,” he added.

Appreciating the organizers of the anniversary ceremony and also the good actions of the family of Martyr Soleimani to keep alive the memory and path of him, Leader said, “Given that the Martyr had devoted himself to the people, cultural and people capacities besides innovations should be used to honor him.”

He called the martyrdom of Gen. Soleimani a historical event, saying, “The reason why Martyr Soleimani became the hero of the Iranian nation and different strata of the people honored him, was that he was the symbol of Iranian people and their cultural values.”

“Martyr Soleimani defeated the Front of Arrogance both during his life and with his martyrdom. The US President said they spent $7B in the region without achieving anything. The US failed to achieve its goals in Syria and Iraq. The hero behind this major task is General Soleimani,” said Leader.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged Iranian authorities and people for strengthening in all areas, not trusting the enemy, preserving the national unity, and looking for ways to defuse sanctions rather than ways to lift them.

“We must be strong in all areas, including economics, science, technology, and defense,” he said, adding that being strong is the way to prevent enemies’ aggression.

Stating that the authorities should not trust the promises of enemies to solve the problems of the people and the future of the country, Leader highlighted, “My firm advice is to not trust the enemy.”

He also noted that there are no differences between the US administrations.

Criticizing Europe’s hypocritical behavior, Ayatollah Khamenei said that three European countries also showed extreme malice and hypocrisy.

He also urged Iranians to preserve national unity, calling on the country’s three branches of power to strengthen national unity through synergy and cooperation.

Referring to the imposed sanctions on Iran, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution called on authorities to look for ways to defuse sanctions rather than ways to lift them.

“Of course, we are not saying that we should not seek to lift the sanctions. If the sanctions can be lifted, we should not hesitate to do it even for an hour,” he noted.

“If the sanctions can be lifted in a right, wise, Iranian-Islamic, and dignified way, it should be done, but the main focus should be on defusing the sanctions,” Leader added.

“I support the officials of the country as long as they adhere to the goals of the nation,” Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged responsible Iranian authorities to properly shed light on the circumstances surrounding the terrorist attack, identify those at fault, and take serious measures to punish the perpetrators.

He also highlighted the necessity of following up the sectors in which the martyred scientist was active, to prevent any interruption in the development path.

Fakhrizadeh was assassinated on Friday in a multi-pronged attack involving at least one explosion and small fire by several assailants in Absard city of Damavand County, Tehran province.

He underlined that there are ways in warding off the impacts of the cruel sanctions, namely “neutralizing and overcoming them” and “lifting them”.

“Of course, we tried the path of lifting sanctions once and negotiated for several years, but we did not reach a conclusion.”

The Leader, then, referred to the path of overcoming sanctions and making them ineffective, and said, “This path may have difficulties and problems at the beginning, but it has a happy ending.”

“If we overcome the sanctions with effort and innovation and protect ourselves against the problems, the other side will see its sanctions ineffective, and will gradually lift the sanctions.”

Ayatollah Khamenei, elsewhere in his remarks, highlighted the importance of self-reliance and the use of domestic capabilities, instead of hoping for external assistance, saying that some are hoping for a change of position from foreign governments that themselves are grappled with their own domestic challenges.

Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to recent anti-Iran claims by three European countries and said, ”The situation of the United States is not clear and the Europeans are constantly taking a stand against Iran.”

“They tell us not to interfere in the region, while they themselves have the falsest interference in the affairs of the regional countries.”

He added, “While Britain and France have destructive nuclear missiles and Germany is on this path, they tell us not to have missiles.”

“It is none of your concern. You’d better correct yourself first, then make comments [about others],” he stressed.

The Leader reiterated once again reiterated the need to leave trust and hope to foreigners, noting, “If movement and action are on the agenda, things can be done that would benefit the people.”

French magazine’s insult to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

He condemned the French Magazine for reprinting insulting cartoons of the Prophet of Islam.

“Today, the main enemies of Islam are the Arrogant Powers and Zionism. The last manifestation of their enmity was the Paris incident. It is not just about one caricaturist committing a wrongdoing. Arrogant Powers and Zionism support this. That’s why they speak in defense of such acts.”

The Leader described the French President’s support for the cartoons as ‘outrageous’. French government harbors savage terrorists who killed Iranian politicians and people and now claims to be a supporter of human rights and freedom of speech, he said.  “The French government relates insulting the Prophet to freedom. This government backed Saddam in his war on Iran and gave refuge to the world’s most savage terrorists, MEK, who killed 17,000 Iranians. Defending a caricaturist’s viciousness and supporting terrorists are two sides of the same coin.”

“Following the insults to the Prophet, the Islamic nation is filled with rage and objections. From the east to the west of the Islamic world, many Muslim officials and people have defended the Islamic identity and Prophet’s noble personage, which shows the Muslim communities’ vitality.”

This is the indication of the ‘savagery’ of the West while they try to cover this feature using technology, he said.

Need for unity among Muslims

Stressing the necessity of the Muslims’ unity, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said, “Today, we can clearly understand how important the Imam’s (Khomeini’s) message of unity is. The incidents that have taken place today, the various disagreements between Islamic countries and the horrible incidents, which have occurred in some regional countries, help us understand how important the unity of the world of Islam is.”

Elsewhere in his statements, Imam Khamenei stated, “What has happened today in the world of Islam, particularly in the Middle East region, is truly catastrophic. They have caused the issue of Palestine to lose color. They started a treacherous, contemptible move to normalize relations with the Zionists. All these stem from a lack of unity in the world of Islam. For the sake of appearances and based on their corrupt, wrong motives, some countries adopted this indecent course of action. By doing so, they violated the Palestinian nation’s rights. Of course, this issue will not come to an end. They are too small to stop this movement. No, the Palestinian cause will continue and Palestine will become Palestine once again. The fake Zionist regime will perish. There is no doubt about this.”

US Presidential race

Noting that presidential rivals are accusing each other of extensive fraud in the election, he said the US political system is suffering a serious decline. He also said that Iran enjoys calculated policies that will not change with a change in US Government. “No matter who wins the US elections, it won’t affect our policy toward the US. Some people talk about what will happen if this or that one is elected. Yes, certain events may happen but they don’t concern us. Our policy is calculated and clear.”

“The US regime suffers from severe political, civil, and moral deviations. This is what their own analysts say. Such a regime won’t last long. Of course, if certain people hold office, they speed up its destruction, while with others it may take a little longer.”

Highlighting the need to focus on domestic capabilities to boost the country’s economy, he noted that the economy should not be tied to the developments of another country and the solution to problems is not outside the country.

Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei called for an immediate end to the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region. He noted that Azerbaijan is ‘entitled’ to liberate its occupied territories while highlighting that the security of Armenians living in the region should be ensured.

Terrorists should not be stationed near Iranian borders and that if Iran feels a threat, it will adopt a decisive response, he warned.

“The war between our neighbors, Azerbaijan and Armenia, is a bitter event and must end as soon as possible. Of course, Azerbaijani land seized by Armenia should be freed and the safety of its Armenian residents must be secured. If terrorists approach the Iranian border, they’ll be dealt with severely.”
