“The leadership of both countries pays priority attention to the development of trade and economic ties. Growth of mutual trade in 2023, despite a certain decline, totaled over $4 billion. We record growth of 12.4% as of the end of January – August. The share of national currencies in mutual payments is over 96%,” the press service informed.

Russia and Iran are implementing several large-scale mutual projects in the sphere of transport and energy, the Kremlin said. The North-South international transport corridor project is being developed. Russian-Iranian relations are on the rise, the press service noted.

“I would choose words carefully when speaking about accusations against the Russian state because there are no accusations at the moment and there is no reason to accuse the Russian state,” he pointed out. “We aren’t inclined to accept any accusations in this regard,” the Russian presidential spokesman added.

Peskov said that he did not see people and forces in Russia that could benefit from the suspected poisoning of blogger Navalny, TASS reported.

“I cannot answer your question who could benefit from that person’s poisoning. As a matter of fact, I don’t think that anyone could stand to gain from that, if one just takes a sober look at things,” Peskov said.

“We certainly would not like our partners in Germany and other European countries to jump to conclusions and make assessments,” Peskov noted, adding that Moscow would like to maintain the dialogue on the issue with them.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Moscow is hoping that the new anti-Russian sanctions proposed by the Republicans in the US House of Representatives will not be imposed, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Moreover, such impulses do not improve bilateral relations, he added.

“Of course, we can only regret that these new impulses are out there advanced by certain people in the general US policy,” he said Thursday.

According to Peskov, “this definitely does not contribute to the normalization of bilateral ties.”

“We are hoping that these new sanctions by the US will not translate into action and will not be implemented in any way,” Kremlin spokesman stressed, TASS reported.

The Russian-American relations are being sacrificed for the benefit of certain political forces, Peskov said. “Overall, as a presidential campaign in the US progresses, our country and the Russian-American relations traditionally become a proverbial lamb that must be sacrificed, if one wants to achieve any success in the electoral business. This is regrettable.”

Republicans in the US House of Representatives have suggested imposing such tough sanctions against Russia, Iran, and China that, according to them, have never been imposed in the history of the US legislature. The proposal is laid out in the 120-page long report called ‘Strengthening America & Countering Global Threats’ published by the Republican research committee gathering around 150 Republican congresspeople.

The initiatives set out in the document are recommendations but not a bill submitted to Congress. “We are following the reports about such ideas and proposals (to impose) new restrictions,” Peskov added. “We generally believe that such restrictions are illegal from the international law viewpoint.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Kremlin has no official information on North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s health, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

“We have no official information,” he said, when asked if Moscow had received any official information about Kim Jong-un’s health, TASS reported from Kremlin officials.

The North Korean leader has not been seen in public since April 11, when he chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

He was absent from the annual session of the Supreme People’s Assembly on April 12 and for the first time since taking the reins missed the Day of the Sun ceremony, which this year commemorated the 108th birth anniversary of Kim Il-sung on April 15, sparking rumors about his health.

The Kremlin spokesman said earlier that Moscow was waiting for official information about the North Korean leader’s health.

Earlier, information on a trip by the Chinese doctors and officials came amid conflicting reports about the health of the North Korean leader. Reuters was unable to immediately determine what the trip by the Chinese team signaled in terms of Kim’s health.

A delegation led by a senior member of the Chinese Communist Party’s International Liaison Department left Beijing for North Korea on Thursday, two of the people said. The department is the main Chinese body dealing with neighboring North Korea.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Russian president’s press secretary in Kremlin said on Monday the recent close contacts between Russia and US leaders, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, on issues of the oil market stabilization cannot be interpreted as a sign of a thaw in the relations between the two powers.

“Can this situation be projected onto the general background of bilateral Russian-US relations? Such a conclusion is improbable today,” Dmitry Peskov told reporters when asked whether he thought the recent contacts between the two presidents could inspire hope for the improvement in bilateral relations, TASS reported.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, the Russian and US leaders “have been having quite constructive contacts for a long time.”

“At this point, an absolute, so to say, the convergence of the two countries’ interests to pool efforts to stabilize the oil markets, obviously, dictates the necessity of more frequent contacts,” he explained.

“The presidents have long, frank, constructive and efficient contacts,” Peskov said. “And you see the result – the (OPEC+ oil production cuts) deal has been finalized and formalized.”

Moscow Slams Allegation of Disinformation Campaign on Coronavirus

According To Iran News, The West’s Russophobic obsession should have abated amid the coronavirus pandemic but baseless accusations continue, Russia’s presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Claims that Russia has been feeding disinformation campaign on the coronavirus pandemic are unfounded, Peskov said, Sputnik reported.

Earlier, Reuters cited a European Union document it had seen, that Russian media had been allegedly feeding a “significant disinformation campaign” against the West to spread panic over the new coronavirus pandemic and sow distrust in governments’ measures to fight the deadly virus.

“The overarching aim of Kremlin disinformation is to aggravate the public health crisis in Western countries … In line with the Kremlin’s broader strategy of attempting to subvert European societies,” the document, dated March 16, said, as quoted by Reuters.

Peskov said that he could have said something more definitive about these claims if the name of at least one media outlet had been mentioned in the document.

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin praised European countries for taking ‘reasonable’ emergency measures aimed at stopping the spread of the novel coronavirus and expressed hope that this response will be efficient.

Meanwhile, in Russia, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has reached 147, with thirty-three new cases registered in the past 24 hours.

Globally, the new coronavirus has been reported in more than 150 countries, claiming the lives of over 8,000 people and infecting more than 201,000.

“No, Vladimir Putin as commander-in-chief of the Russian forces hasn’t sent forces to Libya, there was no such order,” Peskov told journalists, Sputnik reported from Kremlin.

Last week, Erdogan alleged that Moscow was taking part in the Libyan war through Russian private military companies.

He added that Ankara would continue to support Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Sarraj’s internationally recognized government.

Putin Picks New Ukraine Negotiator after Ties Thaw A Little

According To Iran News, The Kremlin said on Tuesday that a senior Ukrainian-born Russian official was now in charge of managing Moscow’s relations with Ukraine, a move likely to be seen by some politicians in Kiev as further evidence of a slight thaw in ties.

President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Dmitry Kozak, deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, was now the most senior Kremlin official when it came to Ukraine.

Kozak, a lawyer by education, was born in what used to be Soviet Ukraine.

Vladislav Surkov, seen as a hardliner by many in Kiev, had previously overseen Russia’s relations with Ukraine, a role that saw him negotiate and advise Putin on the subject. Peskov said Surkov still worked for the Kremlin, but did not elaborate, Reuters reported.

Relations between Moscow and Kiev were derailed after Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimea region in 2014 and Moscow-backed separatists launched an uprising in Donbass, eastern Ukraine that has killed more than 13,000 people. Russia denies any role in the conflict.

Russia and Ukraine are wrangling over how to implement a peace deal on Donbass, but major disagreements remain and full normalization is far off.

Under Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, there has been some movement however with a peace summit held in Paris in December with the leaders of Russia, France and Germany. That was followed by a large-scale prisoner swap.

Zelenskiy on Tuesday appointed a former lawyer called Andriy Yermak as his chief of staff.

Yermak, who was involved in negotiating prisoner swaps with Russia, told the Ukraine 24 TV channel on Monday that he had met Kozak and thought he was an improvement on Surkov.

“It seems to me that he (Kozak) is more inclined to dialogue. And on the issues on which I spoke with him, I can say that we had constructive communication, without which nothing would be possible of what we have already seen,” Ukraine’s UNIAN news agency cited Yermak as saying.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The US ‘Deal of the Century’ on ironing out the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is not fully compliant with the UN Security Council’s resolutions on the issue, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” on Rossiya-1 TV channel.

“There is a whole number of respective resolutions of the UN Security Council,” Kremlin representative, Dmitry Peskov stated, adding, “It’s obvious that certain points of Deal of Century are not in full compliance with the UNSC resolutions.”

The Kremlin spokesman noted that the negative reaction of Palestinians and a number of other countries to the US-proposed plan of the century on ironing out the Israeli-Palestinian conflict raises doubts about whether this plan is viable.

“We see the Palestinians’ reaction, we see the reaction of the whole number of Arab states, which show solidarity with the Palestinians in opposing this plan,” Dmitry Peskov said, adding that “this certainly raises doubts over its viability”.

US President Donald Trump unveiled his self-proclaimed “Deal of the Century” during an event at the White House alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington on Tuesday.

All Palestinian groups have unanimously rejected Trump’s initiative that largely meets Israel’s demands in the decades-old conflict while creating a Palestinian state with limited control over its own security and borders.

It enshrines Jerusalem al-Quds as “Israel’s undivided capital” and allows the regime to annex settlements in the occupied West Bank and the Jordan Valley.

The plan also denies the right of return of Palestinian refugees into their homeland, among other controversial terms.

Netanyahu has expressed support for the deal. For his part, President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas denounced Washington’s plan, blasting it as a “conspiracy deal” that will not pass, while Hamas stressed that the plan is “not worth the ink it was written with”.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Relations between Moscow and Kyiv are far from improving, though some positive signs are seen between the two countries’ leaders, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“I wouldn’t talk about relations between Moscow and Kyiv at the moment,” he said when asked if the Ukrainian president’s statement about the Soviet Union’s alleged role in starting World War II would affect bilateral relations. “As you know, despite a small positive trend between the two heads of state, relations are far from finding a sustainable path for improvement,” Peskov said.

The Kremlin considers remarks by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky that the USSR was involved in unleashing WWII erroneous and insulting to the memories of millions of people, including Ukrainians, he said.

“We strongly disagree with that statement. In that statement, the Ukrainian president expressed solidarity with the viewpoint of the Polish leadership, which is extremely erroneous, in our view, the viewpoint, which is insulting for tens of millions of Russians and CIS citizens whose parents, grandfathers, relatives lost their lives liberating Europe, including Poland, from Nazism,” Peskov said, according to TASS.

He was confident that Zelensky’s stance was “hardly congruous with the faith and convictions of millions of Ukrainians who likewise fought against the Nazis.” That’s why we consider that statement unacceptable. We consider it erroneous and insulting from the viewpoint of the memories of our grandfathers,” the Kremlin spokesman stressed.
