Iran Female Kabaddi Team to Joint Asian Beach Games

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran will send a female kabaddi team to the sixth edition of the Asian Beach Games, the country’s kabaddi federation President Abbas Ursaji said.

“We are going to send the female team to the competition. The male team will also participate in the event. It’s for the first time Iran’s female team will compete at the games,” Ursaji said.

Iran had already announced that it will send beach handball and athletic teams to the Games.

The competitions are scheduled to take place in Sanya, China from November 28 to December 5.

Iran into Junior World Kabaddi Championship Semis

According To Iran News, Iran booked a place at the inaugural edition of the Junior World Kabaddi Championship on Thursday.

The Iranian team defeated Chinese Taipei 53-31.

Iran had defeated Thailand 90-16, Turkmenistan 90-46 and Malaysia 70-29 in its previous matches.

The competition is being held on Kish Island, Iran from November 9 to 15.

The World Cup aims at providing a platform for young and talented players from the grassroots level to enhance their interest in representing their national side in future tournaments.

Iran to Host 1st Junior World Kabaddi Championship

According To Iran News, The inaugural edition of the 1st Junior World Kabaddi Championship will take place from November 9 to 15 in Kish Island, Iran.

A total of 16 teams around the world will take part at the competition.

Iran, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Taipei, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, Denmark, Kenya, Uganda, Canada, Australia as well as Iraq will take part in the competition.

Host Iran will undoubtedly start as the favorite to clinch the title, heading into the first-ever Junior World Cup.

The inaugural edition of the Junior World Cup will be contested in an approach to involve multiple countries, spread the reach of the sport and bring more youngsters into the spotlight.

The World Cup will aim at providing a platform for young and talented players from the grassroots level to enhance their interest in representing their national side in the future tournaments.

Iran men, women win Asian Games 2018 kabaddi c’ship

Iranian men’s and women’s kabaddi teams were both crowned the champions of Asia after beating South Korea and India in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Friday.

The Iranian national team of men kabaddi defeated South Korea in the final match of the sportive field on Thursday and snatched the gold medal of the 2018 Asian Games underway in Indonesia.

The Iranian squad pipped the South Korean rivals 26 to 16 to be crowned as the champions of kabaddi in Asia. They had upset the South Koreans in the first half 10 to 8 and heavily burdened them in the second half with more raids.

Prior to reaching to the semi-final where the Iranian outfit defeated Thailand, the Iranian athletes defeated Japan, Pakistan, Malaysia, Nepal and Indonesia.

Coached by Gholamreza Mazandarani, the Iranian squad managed to garner the 12th gold medal for the Islamic Republic of Iran in the games.

In women’s section, Iran also hurt India’s pride in kabaddi yet again as it delivered a second straight knockout punch to the sport’s most successful nation in the women’s gold medal match of the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta on Friday. Iranian women won the women’s title with a 27-24 thriller over India.

The Iranian women emulated thus their male counterparts, who had shocked seven-time champions India in the semifinals on Thursday.

Asian Kabaddi Championships: Iran Advances to Semis

TEHRAN- Iranian men’s team booked a place in the Asian Kabaddi Championships semi-final as the first team on Saturday.

Team Melli, who had already defeated Thailand and South Korea, beat Sri Lanka 45-27 at the Azadi Complex in Gorgan, north of Iran.

The competitions are being held from Nov. 23 to 26 in the Iranian city.

The championships feature a total of 10 teams take part in each section, with India, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Pakistan, Thailand, Iraq, Sri Lanka and Turkmenistan competing in both the men’s and women’s sections.

In the men’s category, Iran has been drawn along with South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Turkmenistan in Group B.

Group A consists of India, Pakistan, Japan, Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the women’s category, Iran has been pitted against Sri Lanka, Japan, Iraq, and Pakistan in Group B.

The Iranian women’s team has defeated Iraq (71-6), Sri Lanka (28-23) and Pakistan ( 67-12) so far.

India, Thailand, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan are in Group A.
