Iran finishes third at Asian Junior Wushu C’ships

The 2019 edition of Asian Junior Wushu Championships was held from August 19 to 23 in Taolu and Sanda disciplines of both girls and boys categories. 265 athletes from 16 countries participated in the event, held in Brunei.

In the total of Sanda and Taolu competitions, Iranian practitioners won seven gold, five silver and 11 bronze medals to finish the event in the third place after China (20-2-1) and Macao (7-9-3).

Iran came runner-up in Sanda discipline with six gold, one silver and five bronze medals. China (8-2-1) gained the title while Vietnam (2-2-4) stood third.

Iranian practitioners gained repeated their same rank gained in the 2017 edition of the games held in South Korea.

Iranian wrestlers bag 2 gold at 2019 Junior World C’ships

Iran’s Abbas Ali Foroutan defended his world junior title at 97kg with a punishing 10-0 win over Cuba’s Yonger Bastida Pomares in the final. The United World Wrestilng praised the Foroutan’s performance, writing, “Foroutanrami was clearly on another level than Bastida Pomares, and it was apparent from the opening whistle of the 97kg finals.”

Amirhossein Maghsoudi snatched another gold for Iran with an 8-4 win against Russia’s Kurban Shiraev in 61kg finals.

And in 70kg category, Iran’s Mohmmadsadegh Firouzpour won a bronze medal of 70kg by defeating Azerbaijan’s Ashraf Ashirov 5-4 in the third-place playoff.

The 2019 edition of World Junior Championships kicked off on August 12 in Estonia’s Tallinn in freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s categories. The event will end on August 18.

Rouhani hails Iranian junior lifters on winning world title

The Iranian president congratulated this victory to all the team and the Iranian nation, hoping that such achievements would continue in the future.

The Iranian team gained a total of 622 points in the men’s category and achieved the event’s title. US finished runner up with 553 points and Japan stood third with 522.

This was the fourth consecutive title of Iran in the world event.

The 2019 edition of IWF Junior World Championships was held on June 1 to 8 in the Fijian capital of Suva with the participation of 248 athletes from 47 countries in men’s and women’s categories.
