Armed Forces to Unveil IT Achievements

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Head of Geographical Organization of the Armed Forces said that a major part of salient achievements of the Organization in the field of spatial information technology (IT) will be unveiled on the Defense Industry Day.

Amir Majid Fakhri made the remarks on Sun. in a meeting held in the presence of senior officials of Administrative and Recruitment Affairs Organization and stated, “Geographical Organization of the Armed Forces, given the assigned missions such as leadership, monitoring, producing positional information within the framework of location-based services, managed to update software and hardware infrastructures in the field of Communications and Information Technology (ICT) at the unsparing efforts of the Ministry of Defense.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to the most important measures taken by the Geographical Organization of the Armed Forces in the field of e-government as follows, establishment of technology tower and accelerator of geometric sciences of the Organization, design of electronic sales system of products and services, development of Spatial Information Management System, design and development of 10 new products leading to information and communication technology, including routers, trackers as well as registration of 40 specialized services presentable to public in the system of Administrative and Recruitment Affairs Organization of the country in Shahid Rajaei Festival.

Benefited from domestic capacities and relying upon specialties of its expert engineers, the Geographical Organization of the Armed Forces will remove problems of the country in the field of accessing spatial information systems.

20 countries participating in Iran-ITU joint workshop on digital economy

Participants come from Australia, England, and some countries of southeastern Asian and the Middle East to attend the event which is underway from July 6 to 10 in the Iranian capital.

Digital economy refers to an economy that is based on digital computing technologies. It is also sometimes called the Internet Economy, New Economy, or Web Economy.

The digital economy is one of the main sources for job creation in different countries and Iran is not an exception and the workshop paves the way for the faculty to start activities in this field.

According to the faculty’s website, the main objectives of this face-to-face workshop are to inform and create awareness of the use of telecommunications or ICT in support of the digital economy and society; share international best practices on Digital Transformation, and build capacity and skills development in the digital era through digital transformation.

The headline topics of the event are the role of innovation and new technologies for achieving SDGs, digital transformation and the digital economy, fostering innovation in the workplace and the community, modern design processes and methodologies, technology skill development for employment and business growth and introduction to mobile app development.

Iran, Russia eye increased IT coop.

Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei and Russia’s Deputy Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications Alexey Volin met and discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the Information Technology domain.

The meeting was held in Russia on Wednesday. The two officials discussed various issues including the results of former Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications’ travel to Tehran in October 2015.

Reviewing the programs and aims of future Caspian Media Forum which is going to be held in Russia’s Astrakhan in September 2018 was also among other important topics of this meeting, IRNA reported.

This meeting is the continuation of the two country’s joint media sessions, the first of which was held in Tehran in last month where production of joint TV series, especially for children, supplying equipment and organizing training courses for journalists was discussed.
