TEHRAN (Iran News) In a statement late on Monday, Baqaei highlighted the continued Israeli killing and genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip through the constant bombing campaign and by preventing humanitarian aid.

Reminding the international community and the United Nations of their responsibility, he demanded immediate and effective measures to stop Israeli crimes and prosecute war criminals and genocidal perpetrators.

Baqaei also pointed to the recent UN General Assembly resolution following an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which outlined Israel’s responsibilities under both the UN Charter and humanitarian law.

The UN resolution, tabled by Norway alongside more than a dozen other states, secured support from 139 countries, emphasizing the obligation of all states to ensure the implementation of rules of law, condemn the repeated and gross violations of humanitarian law, crimes against humanity and genocide by Israel, and need to end the regime’s impunity.

Referring to the Israeli warmongering in the region, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson slammed the United States for providing the regime with political and military support to commit genocide in Gaza and crimes in occupied Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria.

Despite the declaration of an alleged ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, the Israeli regime, with the full backing of the United States and the indifference of the guarantors of the ceasefire, continues to commit barbaric crimes in Palestine and Lebanon, he added.

Israel has only allowed into Gaza a fraction of the humanitarian aid deliveries agreed to as part of the so-called US-brokered ceasefire that came into effect in October. UN member states later endorsed the ICJ’s findings and pressed Israel to meet its legal obligations as an occupying power.

The Israeli army shelled an area in Syria’s southern Daraa province on Wednesday evening, using three different types of munitions, local media reported.

The shelling northwest of the village of Koya was accompanied by bursts of gunfire, according to Al-Ekhbaria TV.

Three years ago, the adoption of the General Assembly resolution 76/254 clearly reflected a shared commitment to addressing Islamophobia as one of the most alarming manifestations of intolerance, negative stereotyping, stigmatization, discrimination, and incitement to violence against people based on their religion.

Subsequently, the adoption of the resolution on “measures to combat Islamophobia” last year, reiterated this unified dedication by requesting effective measures to eradicate Islamophobia in all its forms.

It has also underscored the critical need for increased efforts to raise awareness and combat the spread of hate speech, which includes, inter alia, urging the implementation of all necessary measures, such as legislative and policy actions, to combat Islamophobia.

Distinguished colleagues,

The Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its profound concern regarding the extensive network of anti-Muslim campaigns, which includes the utilization of media outlets and social media platforms. These practices and policies, regardless of their location, have detrimental effects on Muslims globally, particularly those in vulnerable situations such as under foreign occupation or in minority communities.

In this regard, the world continues to witness daily aggressions against Palestinians whose homeland is under occupation. Israel, as an occupying regime, in cooperation with its allies, maintains a futile attempt to excuse its atrocities, crimes, and apartheid practices by fabricating a direct link between Islam and terrorism. “Israeli regime”
