TEHRAN (Iran News) Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has once again condemned the Israeli aggression against Qatar and elsewhere, warning that the Israeli regime’s warmongering is seriously endangering stability in the West Asia region. 

Araghchi made the remarks during talks with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Sunday in Doha. The two met on the sidelines of a meeting of foreign ministers from Arab League (AL) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that was held in preparation for an emergency summit of heads of state from the two organizations. The summit is scheduled for Monday.

Emphasizing Iran’s principled and resolute position in strongly condemning the Israeli regime’s military aggression against Qatar, Foreign Minister Araghchi stressed the need for effective and collective action by the Islamic world “to confront Israel’s warmongering, stop the genocide in Gaza, and punish the leaders of the occupying regime.”

He told the Qatari foreign minister that Iran stands by the Persian Gulf country, a position stated multiple times by Iranian officials since Israel’s unprecedented attack, targeting the Hamas leadership in Doha, last week.

Al Thani, while appreciating Iran’s support and solidarity with the people and government of Qatar, called for all-out efforts by Islamic and Arab countries to help the oppressed people of Palestine and confront “the dangerous trend of Israel’s hegemony” in the region.

The two top diplomats also discussed and exchanged views on bilateral relations between Iran and Qatar, international developments, as well as Iran’s nuclear issue and the Islamic Republic’s responsible efforts in pursuing diplomacy.

Araghchi arrived in Doha on Sunday, where he also held separate meetings with counterparts from other participating countries.

In a telephone conversation on Saturday with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Raisi noted that Western powers, particularly the United States, have given the Zionist regime the green light to commit atrocities against Gazans.

He additionally pointed out that in order to put an end to the war machine and atrocities of the murderous Israeli regime, Palestine urgently needs the world’s serious and effective assistance, especially from Muslim countries.

The two leaders also weighed plans for closer Muslim unity to stop the Israeli regime’s “war machine”.

The emir of Qatar condemned the crimes committed by the Israeli regime in the Gaza Strip, calling them evidence of the debased double standards of the West.

Head of the 3rd KANS Scientific Competition for u-45 competitors Mr. Saeid Sohrabpour in a press conference said that the competition will honor six top young researchers of the Islamic world.

Speaking to reporters, Sohrabpour first pointed to the different activities of the Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation (MSTF) including the Mustafa (PBUH) Prize, STEP (Science and Technology Exchange Program), KANS, and Noor, explaining “Most of the Muslim scientists have great effective collaborations with those in western countries. The Mustafa (PBUH) Science and Technology Foundation aims to foster collaborations among the scientists inside the Islamic countries.”

“In this round of the KANS scientific competition a new section is added,” he pointed out, stating that “this section, titled ‘The Future Scientist,’ is devoted to researchers under the age of 30. One individual is selected to receive the award for this section.”

In this round of KANS, ‘The Future Scientist’ is from Azerbaijan.

“The participants had to send 3-5 minute videos. The judges were university professors from around the country,” he noted.

According to Sohrabpour, “Among the received works, 20 works from 12 countries reached the final stage. In the final stage, 6 winners were selected.”

“The final judgment of these works was carried out online in April 2023 with the virtual presence of the participants,” he added.

“The usefulness of the participants’ ideas is of great importance in this competition,” he emphasized.

The 3rd KANS Scientific Competition ceremony will be held on May 9-12 concurrently with International Innovation and Technology Exhibition (INOTEX) 2023 in Pardis Technology Park.

Then Gholam Hossein Halvaei, Head of scientific and technological cooperation development at the MSTF, explained details about the event.

He briefly talked about the selection process, stating that 3 rounds of judgement were held. “We had 100 judges during the process,” he said.

“In the second round of KANS competition,” he pointed out, “we started to contact different organizations. These organizations present some challenges and problems. The KANS winners are linked to them so that their ideas may solve those challenges in real-life.”

“In the 3rd round of KANS scientific competition, we received 78 challenges from 16 pavilions,” he said.

He further noted that in this round of KANS, 881 works were received overall in 6 areas: “food and agriculture industries”, “health and medical equipment”, “water, energy and environment”, “electricity, electronics and robotics”, “information and communication technology and artificial intelligence” and “mining and mining industries.”

Halvaei announced that the 6 winners in the areas of the competition are from different countries: in the field of “food and agriculture industries” from Qatar, “electricity, electronics and robotics” from Iran, “information and communication technology and artificial intelligence” from Malaysia, “health and medical equipment” from Iran, and “mining and mining industries” from Malaysia.

The awarding ceremony of the 3rd round of KANS Scientific Competition will be held on the sidelines of the International Innovation and Technology Exhibition (INOTEX 2023) from May 9 to 12 at Tehran’s Pardis Technology Park.

KANS scientific competition is held biannually for researchers and scientists under 45 years of age, with the aim of promoting and developing science and technology for young scientists of the Islamic world.

The first round of this competition was held in 2018. The closing ceremony of the second round was held in May 2022.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in an address to the ambassadors of Muslim countries and participants of the 33rd Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, according to IRNA.

“Had Muslim countries maintained even the minimum levels of unity, we would not have so many plights in the Muslim world today,” the Leader said.

The Leader further stressed the need for Muslim communities, governments, ethnic groups, and sects to avoid harming each other, urging them to remain united against their common enemy.

“At higher levels, Islamic countries must join hands in science, wealth, security, and political power and strive to achieve a modern Islamic civilization,” he said, adding the Islamic Republic of Iran considers this as its ultimate goal.

He described the issue of Palestine as the biggest plight of the Muslim world which has displaced a nation from its home and underlined the significance of unity among Muslim nations in resolving Islamic world problems.

Ayatollah Khamenei said Iran’s stance on the issue of Palestine is a principled and definitive one, stressing that Tehran will keep helping the Palestinians with no reservation, and calls on other Muslim countries to follow suit.

“Since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution to this day, we have remained in this position – meaning we have helped and will continue to help Palestine and the Palestinians without any consideration and we view this the duty of the whole Islamic world,” the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the enemies’ efforts to “distort” pronouncements by the late Father of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini and Iranian officials about the elimination of Israel.

“We are in favor of Palestine and its independence and salvation, but the elimination of Israel does not mean the elimination of the Jewish people, because we have nothing to do with them, as a number of Jews live safely in our country.

“The elimination of Israel means the elimination of the fake Zionist regime and that the Palestinian people, be they Muslim, Christian or Jewish who are the main owners of that land, should be able to choose their government,” the Leader said.

They should also be able to “kick out outsiders and thugs like [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and run their country, which of course will happen,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.

Israel, US hostile to all Muslim states

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said the US, Israel, and enemies of Muslim unity are hostile to all Islamic countries, 9iii

“The nature of Islam is based on the rejection of tyranny, arrogance, and hegemony; therefore, they are opposed to Islam and all Muslim states in principle,” he said, rejecting the notion that they are only hostile to Iran.

The Leader pointed to insulting remarks by US leaders about the Saudis, saying Washington has shown its clear hostility toward Saudi Arabia and its nation by expressing its intention to loot the kingdom.

“When they are explicitly saying that the Saudis have nothing but money? They mean ‘we must go and rob them’. This is open hostility with a country and nation and their opposite sides must understand what their duty is against such insults in view of their Arab zeal and Islamic dignity.”

Ayatollah Khamenei further cited the US presence in the region as a source of trouble, corruption, insecurity, and the formation of such groups as ISIS, and stressed the need for Muslim nations to get familiar with Washington’s “true and hypocritical face”.

The Leader warned that the US’ main weapon today is infiltrating sensitive centers, creating division among nations, creating mistrust among governments and people, and implying that giving in to Washington is the only way to resolve Islamic world problems.

“This weapon is even more dangerous than military and hard weapons,” he warned, stating that the way to confront the enemies is to obey God’s command of resisting on the path of righteousness.

“Of course, this resistance will have hardships, but enduring these hardships is a righteous act and will be rewarded by God. Moreover, giving in to the enemy will have more hardships, and God will punish those who give in to oppression.”
