In a meeting with exporters in Qazvin province, Hamid Zadboum said that Iran’s foreign trade stood at 41.3 billion dollars last Iranian year (March 2019-March 2020), predicting that it would reach 70 billion dollars in the current year once figures are concluded.

He said that the country needs to increase non-oil exports to avert adverse impacts of the US sanctions due to the non-stop endeavor by exporters.

Zadbout hoped that Iran would see a surge in non-oil exports next year.

The value of Iran’s non-oil exports to its 15 neighbors stood at $16.6 billion during the first ten months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2020 – January 19, 2021).

The country has imported 14.4 million tons of non-oil goods worth $14 billion from the neighboring countries in the mentioned 10-month period.

As stated by the head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), the country is capable of doubling non-oil exports to its neighbors in two years.

Hamid Zadboum has said that considering the future capacities, the TPO has planned to increase non-oil exports to the neighboring countries to about $100 billion in a two-year time span, in a way that Iran’s share of the regional markets will significantly go up.

Iran shares borders with fifteen countries, namely the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia, Oman, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia whose total value of annual imports exceed $1000 billion.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s annual export capacity to Russia is about $12 billion, said the head of the Trade Development Organization (TPO), adding that trade agreements, including an interim free trade agreement with Eurasia, are steps forward for Iran’s international trade.

According to shatanews.ir, TPO Managing Director Hamid Zadboum added, “Studies show that there is a remarkable trade capacity between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and currently our annual trade level with the EAEU stands at $2.6 billion.”

It is estimated that by using existing capacities between the two, the official said that the trade volume of Iran-EAEU to reach about $35 billion.

“Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus are the most important countries in the union for Iranian traders,” he said.

Our potential annual export capacity Russia is estimated at $12 billion, while we currently export only $500 million worth of goods to Russia, Zadboum said.

He said that the statistics of 2018 show that the level of Eurasian trade with the world is about $866 billion dollars, adding, “An important part of Russia’s trade with the world includes oil and gas, but there is a high potential for trade with this country for Iranian businessmen.”

Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Mehdi Mir-Ashrafi said on August 11 that the trade between Iran and the members of the EAEU has reached $2.6 since October 27, 2019 – the date when the preferential trade agreement (PTA) between the two sides was signed.

He added that, “[In this period] Iran has exported 1.9 million tons of products worth $762 million to the EAEU member states, while importing 5.5 million tons of goods worth $1.8 billion tons.”

Mir-Ashrafi listed the top three export destinations as Russia, Armenia and Kazakhstan.

He, however, said top exporters to Iran in the nine-month duration were Russia with 4.3 million tons of goods valued at $1.5 billion and Kazakhstan with 1.1 million tons of goods worth $298 million.

The IRICA head added basic goods and livestock food constituted over 95 percent of Iran’s imports.

Iran and the EAEU started implementing the agreement on preferential trade for 862 products as of October 27, 2019.

Accordingly, trade balance of the country in this three-month period in the current year (March 2 – June 21) turned positive, he stated.

Modoudi pointed to the significance of production capacities and export products to finance export and added, “the country gained plenty of foreign exchange resources for many years but these resources were not spent appropriately for promoting export of non-oil commodities.”

He put Iran’s share of gross domestic product (GDP) in the world at 1.2 percent which is meager.

Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys high capacities and potentials to boost exports volume of non-oil commodities, Modoudi emphasized.
