TEHRAN (Iran News) Brigadier General Nasirzadeh met with Major General Kifah Moulhem, the director of Syria’s National Security Bureau, in Damascus on Sunday.

During their discussions, both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries across various fields, particularly in defense and security, to combat terrorism and promote peace and stability in the region.

Brigadier General Nasirzadeh highlighted Iran’s strategic support for Syria in its fight against terrorism, and spreading peace and stability in the region.

He stressed Iran’s ongoing backing of the Axis of Resistance, the Syrian government, and the Syrian people.

Meanwhile, Major General Moulhem expressed appreciation for the honorable position of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in support of the Resistance, viewing his stance as a source of strength for the people in the region.

Earlier in the day, Iran’s Defense Minister met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus to discuss mutual defense and security cooperation.

During the meeting on Sunday, the two emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism and dismantling its structures to ensure regional stability and security.

Iran’s defense chief arrived in the Syrian capital as the head of a delegation on Saturday.

The Islamic Republic was the first country to rush to Syria’s aid after foreign-funded militancy erupted in the Arab nation in 2011 to remove President Assad from power.

Noting that Iran enjoys all different aspects of power, he said that Iran uses its power to ensure its security and stability.

The previous month, in a meeting with Indian Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat in the city of Bangalore, Hatami said, “Tehran and New Delhi have cultural and historical commonalities, common approaches toward many regional and international issues and geographical capacities, particularly in the Indian Ocean.”

Highlighting the capacities of both states to expand ties, the Iranian defense chief noted, “These capacities can play a significant role in expanding the two countries’ relations, particularly in the defense and military sectors.”

The Iranian minister participated in the opening ceremony of Aero India 2021, which started at an air force base in Bangalore on Wednesday.

According To Iran News, Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said that Iran will respond promptly to any threat and aggression, adding that Iran does not need any permission to strengthen its missile and defense capabilities.

Commemorating the 9 Dey Epic which refers to the mass rallies held in support of Islamic establishment and put an end to foreign-orchestrated riots, he said that it is a symbol of Iranians’ dignity, vigilance, and awareness, who sought to save Islamic principles and Revolutions’ goals against the enemies.

Referring to strategic position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region and world, he said that Iran is at a strategic point, and it has always stood against any excessive demands and domineering policy, emphasizing its fundamental principles and strategic policy, namely the preservation of independence, freedom, and rejection of any kind of domination.

Referring to the necessity of increasing the defensive power of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite the most severe sanctions, he noted that the enemies should know that Iran will respond promptly and boldly to any threat and aggression.

Iran will do its best to strengthen its missile and defense power, Hatami added.
