TEHRAN (Iran News) Major General Hatami made the remarks among the reporters on the sidelines of the unveiling ceremony of the “Kordestan” vessels and the rejoining of the “Sahand” destroyer to the Navy fleet on Saturday.

“Peace, stability, and security in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz are crucial for all countries in the region, including the Islamic Republic,” he said.

Referring to the rhetoric of enemies, the Army chief said, “The enemy’s job is hostility; therefore, their statements and claims hold no value. What truly matters is the presence of peace, stability, and security in the region.”

He went on to say that the Islamic Republic views itself as a principal guardian of security in the region, in collaboration with other regional countries.

Major General Hatami said that all regional countries should benefit from the sea and the region under fair conditions, adding, “Anyone who seeks to threaten this security will undoubtedly create instability that will lead to problems.”

Hatami emphasized, “We, along with the nations of the region, have lived here for many years and will continue to do so. Those who do not belong to this region and have never been here must leave.”

According To Iran News, Commander of Iran’s Army Major General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi said that Iran’s Army will nip in the bud any greed of the enemies for the country.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr in 1982 during the Iran–Iraq War, Mousavi issued a message, saying that today the enemy is disappointed at military actions against Iran and has started oppressive economic sanctions, psychological wars, and media war against the country.

On the eve of the 40th anniversary of the Holy Defense, the war of wills between Iran and the hegemonic powers of the world, he said, adding that the Iranian people will turn all these threats into opportunities with deep insight of Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

According To Iran News, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a message congratulated Iran’s National Army Day, which falls on April 17.

The message was conveyed by the head of the military office of Leader, Brigadier General Mohammad Shirazi, in a telephone conversation with Army’s Chief Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi.

During the conversation, Brigadier General Shirazi said, the Leader has sent his warmest regards to all the members of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army, including the personnel, commanders and their families.

National Army Day was included in the Iranian calendar after a historic letter from late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini in April 1979, in which he voiced strong support for the Army and ordered Army troops to hold massive parades across the country on April 18 every year to express their combat readiness.

The historic decision by Imam Khomeini came after hostile propaganda for undermining the Army after its successful missions in quelling riots and separatist moves.

According To Iran News, Deputy Chief of Iran’s Army for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari highlighted the Army’s efforts to help counter the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, saying the force has designated three of its hospitals for the treatment of coronavirus patients.

“The Armed forces, including the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army, are at the forefront… in the battle against the coronavirus,” Rear Admiral Sayyari said in a speech on Saturday.

“The Army has stepped up to the plate in full force and we have put in place the necessary capacities that have been considered by the Ministry of Health,” he said.

The top commander went on to say that in a bid to help the people and based on agreements reached, the Army has designated three hospitals for combating the coronavirus.

The remarks came as Kianoush Jahanpour, the spokesman for Iran’s National Headquarters for Coronavirus Management, said on Saturday that 205 more people have been confirmed to have contracted the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 593.

He added that 43 of those infected with the virus have died while 123 patients have recovered.

Medical staff in 20 provinces of Iran have been working tirelessly over the past week to contain the novel coronavirus that has originated from China.

Following the increase of coronavirus increase, the Iranian government ordered the shutting of schools until Tuesday and extended the closure of universities and a ban on concerts and sports events for a week.

Several high-ranking officials, including the deputy health minister and five lawmakers, have tested positive for the coronavirus as the spread of the outbreak forced the government to call on people to stay at home.

The large-scale exercise, held in Nasrabad region, involves around 12,000 assault forces from all units of the Army Ground Force.

During the war game, whose purpose is to evaluate the recent changes in the structure of the Army Ground Force, the participating forces would focus on modern offense tactics.

At the outset of the drill, soldiers from the artillery, armored unit, rapid-reaction forces, mechanized infantry, combat engineering, telecommunication and electronic warfare, and airborne unit were arrayed in the operation zone with the support of the Air Force fighter jets.

During the first stage of the exercise, the airborne unit’s drones and choppers carried out a reconnaissance mission before troops from the 55th Airborne Brigade and the 25th Rapid Reaction Brigade parachuted into the target zone from CH-47 Chinook and Bell 214 helicopters.

The other purposes of the first stage of the drill include assessment of the power, mobility and agility of the troops as well as the aerial logistics of the airborne unit’s copters.

Iran’s Armed Forces hold routine military exercises throughout the year.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.
