The Iranian ambassador noted that Iran welcomes any cooperation with Muslim countries and reinforcing relations with Iraq, which would be in favor of all the regional countries.

About Iran’s relations with Saudi Arabia, He said “we do believe in having negotiations and try our best to resolve issues through talks and a mediator.”

“If Saudis are ready, we are also inclined to conduct negotiations,” he said.

Hailing the efforts of Emir of Kuwait for keeping the region peaceful, Irani named the conditions proper for expansion of Iran-Kuwait ties.

Irani, elsewhere, noted that there are a large number of world countries which do not agree with the US-led sanctions against Iran including Russia, China, and the EU besides regional countries such as Turkey, Iraq and central Asian countries.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on May 26 that he has proposed the “regional non-aggression pact” with Persian Gulf Arab countries during his three-day trip to Iraq.

During a joint press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Alhakim, Zarif said that Iran sought the best of relations with the Persian Gulf littoral countries and would welcome any proposals for dialogue and de-escalation toward that end.

The regional non-aggression pact is expected to pave the way for neighboring countries to build trust and have constructive interaction.

Despite all pressures, diplomatic initiatives are being pursued by Iran and some regional and trans-regional countries to reduce tensions in the Middle East.

Tensions initially built up between US and Iran after President Trump withdrew Washington from the 2015 Nuclear Deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and imposed severe sanctions against Tehran. Trump administration insists that they are ready for talks with Iran but Tehran says it will resist in face of all pressures and that there will be no talks with a party which has already violated many international agreements.

Strains jumped to a record high after a US spy drone violated Iran’s airspace before being brought down by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps air defense.

“Having miscalculated in its unlawful seizure of tanker, UK should not repeat its miscalculation. Ship did NOT violate any law or norm – but UK, through its illegal piracy, most certainly has. Failure to release the tanker and its cargo will NOT be left unanswered,” wrote the Iranian ambassador to London, Hamid Baeidinejad in a tweet on Saturday.

His tweet followed a phone conversation between Iranian and British foreign ministers over the issue, during which Zarif called on Britain to accelerate efforts meant to release the Iranian oil tanker, while Jeremy Hunt said, according to his tweet, that “UK would facilitate release if we received guarantees that it would not be going to Syria.”

The phone conversation took place ten days after British naval forces seized the Iran-operated Grace 1 supertanker off the coast of Gibraltar on alleged suspicion of carrying crude oil to Syria, which has been under EU sanctions since 2011.

Spain, which challenges the British ownership of Gibraltar, has, however, said the seizure was prompted by a US request to Britain and appeared to have taken place in Spanish waters.

The Islamic Republic has condemned the seizure as “piracy,” vowing to employ all its political and legal capacities to secure the release of the vessel.

Nasrabadi further described the exchange of visits between Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Indonesian President Joko Widodo as a turning point in promotion of bilateral cooperation in the recent years.

The Indonesian diplomat Yasonna Laoly, for his part, said that Jakarta-Tehran political, cultural and legal cooperation is at an acceptable level and both sides hope for improvement of economic ties as well.

He informed that Indonesia is getting the required regulations and infrastructure to be used as a legal ground for extraditions of prisoners after being approved.

Referring to ratification of the agreements between Iran and Indonesia, he added that Indonesia welcomes Iran’s suggestion for exchanging experience on legal and migration affairs as well as fight against drug trafficking.

Indonesian President Widodo visited Tehran in mid-December 2016 on an official visit. Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation in his trip to Tehran, he met President Rouhani, Majlis speaker Ali Larijani and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Before leaving for Tehran, Widodo said Iran can play a pivotal role in promoting dialogue among members of the Economic Cooperation Organization and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Earlier in 2015, President Rouhani departed made a trip to Jakarta to attend the summit of the Asian African Conference in the Indonesian capital on April 22-24. His visit took place at the invitation of his Indonesian counterpart Widodo and also to take part in the 60th anniversary of the Asian African Conference known as Bandung Conference.

Speaking with a local Spanish media on Saturday, Hassan Ghasghavi said Europe must take stronger steps to show its commitments to the deal.

Iran expects Europe to give a practical response, he said, adding that the European countries have accepted the fact that what US did has been against international law but they taken no effective step about regarding their commitments yet.

Referring to Iran’s recent announcement on reducing some obligations to the deal, the official said, Tehran has been fully complying with its commitments under the pact and this has been verified 14 times by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Iran revealed on Wednesday countermeasures to US’ withdrawal from the nuclear deal, giving the other remaining parties to the JCPOA a 60-day ultimatum to comply with their commitments, particularly those regarding Iran’s economic interests in the banking and energy sectors, before reducing further commitments to the agreement stage by stage.

Ghasghavi added that the 60-day ultimatum was announced to tell the European parties to accelerate the implementation of the financial mechanism they have pledged to implement to ditch US sanctions.

The next two months will be a good opportunity for the Europeans to fulfill Iran’s demands, he said.

In this way, they can prove their commitments to the previous agreements, he said.

Despite reducing the commitments, Iran says at any given time that its demands are met, it will resume complying with the suspended commitments, which have been made impossible to continue due to the US measures and sanctions.

The decision to suspend some obligations to the JCPOA follows Washington’s move to ramp up pressure against Iran, by re-imposing new sanctions, including restrictions on Iran’s low-level uranium enrichment, and ending the sanctions waivers for Iran’s major oil clients in an attempt to drive the country’s oil exports to zero.

Ammar al-Hakim made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi.

During the meeting on Monday, the two sides conferred on the latest political developments in Iraq and the Middle East region, as well as bilateral ties and ways to improve them.

Hakim put special emphasis on the commonalities between the two countries in bilateral relations.

The leader of the National Wisdom Movement of Iraq once again voiced his strong objection to the unilateral sanctions against Iran, saying the US move is a dangerous threat to international relations.

He further maintained that Iraq has recently witnessed positive changes, the most important of which was the formation of coalitions within a national framework.

In a meeting with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his accompanying delegation on Jan. 14 in Baghdad, Hakim had said that the US unilateral sanctions against Iran make Iraq all the more determined to develop relations with the Islamic Republic.
