The reflection of “the powerful Iran” in the land of revelation

We have been in Saudi Arabia for 20 days now. I can feel the presence of other pilgrims in the soft breeze of their breath that has filled the air; the endless rows of pilgrims who are standing side by side and are praying in one direction has created a beautiful view.

In addition to this indescribable spiritual feeling that has filled the place, one other thing that catch our eyes is the different treatment that the Iranians receive this year. This new treatment has particularly surprised the Iranians who have been on Haj Pilgrimage before.

Up to now, the Saudi officers’ behavior toward Iranians has been very different from previous years. Most of people who have witnessed this different behavior over the last 20 days believe that this new attitude is a reaction to the power of Iran and the confidence that it has displayed in dealing with regional issues.

Capturing the American drone, seizing the British ship in Persian Gulf, and other numerous achievements of Iran in the region have had a great influence on Saudis and they have come to better understand a new reality called “the powerful Iran.”

Here, the subject of Iran’s power in the region come up in every conversation we have with Mecca residents or other Muslims. It seems that Iran’s resistance toward Americans has not only made Iranians proud, but it has also made other Muslims feel great joy and pride.

Both Shi’ite and Sunni Yemeni Muslims treat us with great respect and call us brothers. Other Muslims from Indonesia, Palestine Bangladesh and other countries show the same intimate and kind behavior toward us.

In one of the Congregational Prayers (jama’ah) we went to, a Palestinian Sunni man was standing next to me in the Maghrib prayer (sunset prayer); when I told him that I was Iranian, he put his hand on his heart and told me in Arabic, “your place is in our hearts.”

Obviously, this level of respect and admiration is rooted in the power of the Islamic Republic and the firm stance it has taken toward its enemies; a position that we have to keep maintaining. Haj Pilgrimage is a good opportunity to assess the outcome of the confident and successful policies that we have taken both in national and international arenas.

Iran condemns brutal attack on pilgrims’ bus in Iraq

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi expressed deep regret over a terrorist attack on a bus carrying Iranian pilgrims in the Iraqi city of Balad, which killed and wounded a number of them.

In a Monday statement, Ghasemi strongly condemned the brutal and inhumane attack, saying that the Iranian Foreign Ministry and the country’s embassy in Baghdad are seriously looking into the incident and pursuing the conditions of those wounded.

“The rejected and defeated terrorist groups in Iraq are still under the delusion that they are in existence,” official website of Foreign Ministry quoted him as saying.

“They wishfully think that they can damage the strong bonds and unity among the Iranian and Iraqi nations by committing such inhumane crimes, but they won’t achieve their inauspicious goals,” the spokesman highlighted.

“Such disasters will strengthen the two nations’ resolve to fully eradicate the remnants of criminals,” he added.

A bus carrying Iranian pilgrims in the south of Iraq’s Saladin governorate was targeted by terrorists on Sunday night, martyring one Iranian and wounding eight others. The attack was carried out when the bus was moving from a shortcut road which was not provided with security by Iraqi forces.

IRIB says that terrorists have opened fire on the bus from inside marshes while some Iraqi media report that a bomb has been exploded on the side of the road.

No terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility of the attack, however, Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces has blamed ISIL for the brutal terror attack.

Iraqi paramilitary forces allege ISIL responsibility in Pilgrim bus attack

The Iraqi paramilitary Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) cast the blame for the recent attack on a pilgrim bus south of the central Iraqi city of Balad on the ISIL terror group.

On Sunday, the bus, which was carrying pilgrims to a Shia mausoleum in Balad, struck a roadside bomb south of the city. It was initially reported that some of the pilgrims were killed.

The 43rd brigade of the paramilitary forces is carrying out raids in areas neighboring Balad in a bid to seize the ISIL militants who fled the site of the incident promptly after the attack.

The PMF is an official umbrella entity reportedly composed of up to 40 various militant groups united under the aegis of Iraq’s Interior Ministry. The force was created in a bid to unite militants’ efforts to drive Daesh out of country.

Then-Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi issued a decree in early 2018 including the PMF into the country’s armed forces.
