]]> TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh condemned an act of sabotage against an Iranian vessel in the high seas which resulted in damage to the ship.

“Incoming reports confirm the sabotage attack on this ship, which is a blatant violation of the international law and laws of the seas,’ he said.

“Different sectors have put on the agenda necessary measures to identify the perpetrators behind this act of sabotage, and the necessary actions are being seriously pursued in this regard,” Khatibzadeh added.

Tehran has launched efforts to identify the perpetrators of a recent attack on an Iranian container ship in the Mediterranean, he added.

Asked by reporters about the attack on Iran’s ‘Shahr-e Kord’ container ship in the Mediterranean Sea, Khatibzadeh said on Saturday the country has received reports confirming that the vessel has been hit in a “sabotage attack” that was in clear violation of international and admiralty laws.

He condemned the attack, saying, “The necessary measures in order to identify the perpetrators of such an act of sabotage have been put on the agenda of various (Iranian) sectors.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line (IRIS) Group said an explosive object had hit the container ship as it was traveling to Europe in the high seas on March 10.

The vessel’s hull has reportedly sustained slight damage, but the crews are unharmed.

According To Iran News, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi said a 10-member Canadian delegation is heading to Iran to deal with issues related to Canadian victims of the Ukrainian airliner’s crash in northern Iran.

In remarks on Friday, Mousavi pointed to the latest developments surrounding the incident, and said, “Based on the coordination between the Iranian Foreign Ministry and Canada, a 10-member Canadian delegation is heading to Iran to deal with the affairs of the Canadian victims of the tragic incident.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to facilitate the affairs of countries whose nationals have been affected by the tragedy,” he said.

The results of technical examinations and investigations by international experts, including representatives of Boeing, Ukraine and other affected countries will be released to the public after their completion, the spokesman added.

The remarks came as some US, Canadian, and British officials said Thursday the cause of the jet’s crash was a missile fired from Iran in the hours after the country had launched other missiles at bases housing US troops.

The victims of Wednesday’s crash included 82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians, 10 Swedes, four Afghans, three Germans, and three British nationals.

All 179 people on board the Boeing 737, including nine crew, were killed when the jetliner crashed shortly after takeoff from the airport on Wednesday morning.

The plane operated by Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) was bound for Kiev.

The Ukrainian embassy in Iran also ruled out the possibility of an attack on the plane.
