										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Iran-Italy co-production ‘Bologna’, directed by Arash Abbasi, is about two Iranian girls who, in spite of themselves, have to complete a task together in the Italian city Bologna. The cast includes Minou Mirshahvalad and Farnaz Taheri. Abbasi has also written the script and produced the film.</p>
<p>The film has been accepted into the main competition section of the 16th edition of Sedicicorto International Film Festival in Italy.</p>
<p>The festival, started in 2004, is held every year in October in Forlì. The event aims at offering visibility to young authors and at representing an opportunity of meeting and exchange among film industry professionals, according to the official website.</p>
<p>Abbasi is also present at the Iranfest section of the festival as a member of the jury panel.</p>
<p>The 16th Sedicicorto International Film Festival will be held on October 4 – 13, 2019.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On the island of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, according to local custom, thirteen-year-old Hendi is married off to sixteen-year-old Hormoz. Despite the fact that the young couple hardly know each other, they enjoy the beginning of their life together. However, events occur which darken their original joy and lead to unexpected outcomes.</p>
<p>Amini’s feature, which is a co-production between Iran and Czech Republic, will take part at the 7th Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth in the UAE, scheduled for 13th-18th October.</p>
<p>The film has also made it into the lineup of UNICEF Innocenti Film Festival, to be held in Florence, Italy, on 25 &#8211; 27 October 2019.</p>
<p>‘Hendi &amp; Hormoz’ will also take part at the 30th Belfast Film Festival in Ireland.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>According to the director Maryam Amiri, &#8216;Under Influence&#8217; is a three-minute 2D animated film, which explores the concept of decision-making in children.</p>
<p>The animation will take part at the 11th  edition of ‘Tofuzi’ International Festival of Animated Films in Georgia.</p>
<p>Two other Iranian short animations, namely ‘Sink’ by Mahboobeh Kalaee and ‘Stair’ by Siamak Vahed, had been previously named as part of the competition lineup of the Georgian festival.</p>
<p>The International Festival of Animated Films &#8220;TOFUZI&#8221; will take a place on 21 &#8211; 26 of October in the city of Batumi, capital of Ajara, Georgia.</p>
<p>The festival aims to encourage the exchange of creative experiences, search of new ideas, styles and technologies, according to the event’s website.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Iranian filmmaker Sam Kalantari told reporters on Saturday that his feature-length documentary ‘No Place for Angels’ is going through the last minutes of the technical stage, and will be soon ready for screening.</p>
<p>According to him, ‘No Place for Angels’ is about the stories of the national Iranian women’s hockey team and the major events that take place in their lives. The film depicts the hopes, fears and dreams of these girls, and narrates the story of their participation at Asian games.</p>
<p>“This is a drama about the Iranian women’s hockey team and the stories of the players,” he said.</p>
<p>‘No Place for Angels’ will premiere at the 13th Iran International Documentary Film Festival, known as &#8216;Cinema Verite&#8217;, slated for 9-16 December 2019 in Tehran.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>She will be judging titles in the ‘BIAFF Doc films competition’, together with Krzystof Gierat (Poland) – Head of Jury, Karen Avetysian (Armenia), Oles Yanchuk (Ukraine), and Vakhtang Kuntsev-Gabashvili (Georgia).</p>
<p>Golmakani was born in Tehran into a family of journalist and artist. At the age of 18, she moved to Paris to follow her studies in “Art history” and “Cultural studies”. Her PhD studies subject at Sorbonne University is focused on “Influence of Iranian masters on young filmmakers”.</p>
<p>She started to make movies after she moved back in Iran. She has made documentaries and making-of for several movies of notable Iranian directors such “Today” and “Daughter”, both directed by Reza Mirkarimi, “A Special Day”, directed by Homayoun Asadian, and “Sara and Aida” by Maziar Miri.</p>
<p>BIAFF, slated for September 15 – 22, focuses on art-house cinema.</p>
<p>The screening program of this year’s festival include three Iranian titles: feature &#8216;Castle of Dreams&#8217;, directed by Reza Mirkarimi, which will be taking part at the international feature films competition section; while “Delirium” by Vahid &amp; Navid Nami and “Sea Swells” by Amir Gholami will be taking part at the short films competition program.</p>

<p>The documentary narrates the story of an Afghan girl who flees home because of an early marriage and domestic violence.</p>
<p>It won Best Director for Full-length Documentary, as well as Best Editing for Babak Heidari at the 12th Iran International Documentary Film Festival, known as Cinema Vérité.</p>
<p>Florence Film Awards is an IMDb qualifier, monthly international film festival in Florence. Each month, the juries will award the best films in various categories through private screenings.</p>
<p>A selection of short films will be screened every month in Florence at Scuola di Cinema Immagina (Immagina Film School).</p>
<p>Another Iranian title, short film ‘It Rains for You’, directed by Mohammad Mehdi, is also taking part at the Sep. edition of Florence Film Awards.</p>

Over the years, it expanded its activities to cover all cultural fields, including art, cinema, literature and music. Blue Knowledge organizes events, seminars and workshops and grants awards to spread and promote art across the world.</p>
<p>‘Yeva’ was screened on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 76th Venice International Film Festival which wrapped up today in Italy.The screening was scheduled by Blue Knowledge, which is set to fund the director’s next film project.</p>
<p>Written and directed by Iranian-Armenian Anahid Abad, ‘Yeva’ is the story of a young woman who is forced to flee Yerevan with her daughter Nareh. She would have to stand trial there because she allegedly killed her husband. Uncle Ruben and the remote village in Nagorno-Karabakh are her last chance to go into hiding. But the villagers recognize her from the days of war when she had cared for the wounded as a doctor at the front.</p>
<p>The 76th annual Venice International Film Festival was held from 28 August to 7 September 2019 in Italy. The prestigious festival opened with the screening of “The Truth”, directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Written and directed by Shahed Ahmadlou, and produced by Ali Yavar, the Iranian black comedy ‘Cinema Donkey’ is about a filming group, which is making a humanitarian film that has a message for humanity. They need a professional donkey to play in a few scenes. Failing to find one, they settle for a donkey wandering in the woods.</p>
<p>The film will be screened at the 24th edition of Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, with both the director and producer attending the screening session.</p>
<p>It will also compete with other titles at the &#8216;A Window on Asian Cinema&#8217; section, which features new and representative films by Asian filmmakers.</p>
<p>Another Iranian film, &#8220;7.5&#8221; directed by Navid Mahmoudi, and produced by his brother Jamshid Mahmoudi, has also been announced as part of the Busan&#8217;s lineup.</p>
<p>The film, which is said to be quite different from Mahmoudis’ previous works, is the story of seven Iranian and Afghan girls narrated in seven episodes in the format of plan-sequence. “7.5” is the story of seven girls whose weddings are on the same night, but each are dealing with a different issue of their own.</p>
<p>The 24th edition of Busan International Film Festival will be held on October 3-12, 2019. The focus of the BIFF is introducing new films and first-time directors, especially those from Asian countries.</p>

<p>The film, which is said to be quite different from Mahmoudis’ previous works, is the story of seven Iranian and Afghan girls narrated in seven episodes in the format of plan-sequence. “7.5” is the story of seven girls whose weddings are on the same night, but each are dealing with a different issue of their own.</p>
<p>This will be the fourth time the Mahmoudi brothers take part at the prestigious Busan film festival.</p>
<p>“A Few Cubic Meters of Love”, “Parting”, and “Rona, Azim&#8217;s Mother” took part at three editions of the Korean festival, with “Parting” winning the best director and “Rona, Azim&#8217;s Mother” winning the best film award.</p>
<p>The three films had been Afghanistan’s entry for the Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In its second international screening, Iranian feature “Douch”, directed by Amir Mashhadi Abbas, will take part at the competition section of the 10th DYTIATKO International Children’s Media Festival in Ukraine.</p>
<p>The film will compete with 15 other titles from Germany, Belarus, Singapore, Estonia, the Netherlands, Russia, Ukraine, Finland and Uzbekistan.</p>
<p>&#8220;Douch&#8221; narrates the story of a ten-year-old boy, Gholamreza, who is looking for money to replace his old bicycle. During his pursuit, he comes upon a contest that promises enough money for a new bicycle if he can manage to teach an illiterate person in the village how to read and write. Gholam decides to take part in the contest, and his pupil is a grouchy 90-year-old woman with really poor eyesight and hearing, who does not want to learn anything.</p>
<p>The film had previously taken part at the 59th Zlin International Festival for Children and Youth in the Czech Republic.</p>
<p>Founded in 2009, DYTIATKO International Children’s Media Festival brings together creative children and young people from different countries to the First Capital of Ukraine.</p>
<p>The 10th edition of the event will be held in Kharkiv on 4-7 September 2019.</p>
