Iran national basketball team captain, Samad Nikkhah Bahrami appreciated Kobe Bryant for all the things he gave to basketball. “Thanks for everything that you gave to this game of basketball,” he wrote in an Instagram story while posting Bryant’s photo.

Key Iran national football team players Ashkan Dejagah, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, and Saman Ghoddos also honored Kobe and his daughter in separate posts.

Bryant’s death sent shockwaves throughout the NBA and beyond, prompting not only his colleagues but a range of celebrities worldwide to pay tribute to the basketball icon.

A five-time NBA champion, who was also known by the nickname Mamba, and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Bryant died in a helicopter crash in suburban Los Angeles that also claimed the life of his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others. Madison Square Garden, home of the New York Knicks, was awash in the Los Angeles Lakers colors of purple and gold – the team Bryant played for when he won his championship titles – and so too were the pylons that mark the entrance to Los Angeles International Airport.

According to Qatari media outlet Estadaldoha, Cheshmi has arrived in Doha on Friday to negotiate with the Qatari club.

Esteghlal’s jersey no. 4 has shown great performances in his team both in Iran Professional League and also in AFC Champions League as a defender and defensive midfielder. His abilities convinced former Team Melli Coach Carlos Queiroz to invite him to the team and take him to Russia 2018 World Cup. However, the stylish defender played just the opening match against Morocco and missed the remaining two due to injury.

According to reports, Cheshmi has not returned to Iran with Esteghlal after last Monday’s ACL match against UAE’s A-Ain.

Qatar’s Al-Ahli signed another Estghlal star, Omid Ebrahimi, last year as well as another Iranian national defender Mohammadreza Khanzadeh. Cheshmi will probably replace Khanzadeh in the team.

Al-Ahli stood fifth in 2018–19 season of Qatar Stars League, failing to book a place in qualification for AFC Champions League play-off round.
