Speaking with the President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday in a telephone conversation, Rouhani referred to the outbreak of coronavirus in the world and creating difficult conditions for citizens of the countries, adding, “all countries should cooperate against this disease and special global conditions must affect the relations among countries so that some countries do not continue their illegal actions.”

He said that global relations are based on the principle that everyone is committed to international rules, adding, “unfortunately, despite the difficult conditions caused by the outbreak of coronavirus, we continue to see the intensification of US sanctions against the Iranian people, and they have even violated international rules and regulations in the field of delivering medicine and humanitarian aid.”

During the phone call, the President of Uganda referred to the US’ illegal actions against Iran, and said, “we believe that in this hard condition, human relations must be the priority, peaceful coexistence must be promoted, and discords be settled through political ways”.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Ugandan Parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, in a meeting with Iran Ambassador to the African country Seyed Morteza Mortazavi, called for widening mutual cooperation in the agriculture sector and asked Tehran to help Kampala with manufacturing agricultural machinery such as tractors.

In the meeting held in Kampala with Mortazavi, Kadaga said that Uganda and Iran should put more effort in enhancing economic relations, especially agriculture, depicting the bilateral political ties as a good model, reported Fars News Agency.

She said that there are plenty of opportunities in Uganda’s agriculture sector for boosting cooperation, which includes manufacturing agricultural machinery such as tractors.

She said that such products can both modernize agriculture in her country as well as neighboring states.

For his part, the Iranian envoy pointed to the importance of cementing ties in various fields of mutual interest, noting that Iran is ready to boost parliamentary relations with Uganda.

In September, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, in a meeting with Mortazavi, voiced his country’s strong opposition to Washington’s unilateral sanctions against Tehran and added that Kampala is eyeing further expansion of ties with the Islamic Republic.

During the meeting with Mortazavi, Museveni rejected the US unilateral actions, sanction policies and imposing economic pressures against independent countries like Iran, and underlined collective cooperation for reinforcing multilateralism.

Back in October 2018, companies in Uganda signed four memoranda of understanding with Iran technology-based companies in fields like agriculture.

The signing of the MoUs took place during a conference of Iranian and Ugandan companies held in the Ugandan capital city of Kampala.

The event was attended by Ugandan Minister for Science and Technology Elioda Tumwesigye, Iranian Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari and Iran’s Ambassador Mortazavi.
