TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran Exports Soar by 46%. The Chairman of Iran-UAE Joint Chamber of Commerce Farshid Farzanegan says it seems the trend of exports is growing upward and the trend of imports is on the decline.

Speaking t ILNA and touching upon Iran’s exports, he said Iran’s exports in the first two months of the current year have grown by 46 percent comparing to the same period last year and this volume may be affected in the upcoming months due to the water tension in the country and agro exports may slump.

Farzanegan went on to say that the non-oil exports of Iran in the first month of the year were around $3b which shows 80 percent growth in terms of value and 56 percent growth in terms of the weight comparing to the same period last year.

He also said that Iran’s imports in this period grew by 47% in terms of value and 17% in terms of weight.

Farzanegan said that in the first month of the current year, Iran’s exports were mostly to China, Iraq, the UAE, Turkey and Afghanistan as China was the top destinations for Iran’s exports with $974m. He said in the field of imports and in the same period, the UAE was Iran’s major trade partners with exporting goods worth $788m to Iran and China trailed the UAE with $656m. He noted that Russia replaced Germany as Iran’s major European exporting partner.

He noted that it seems water shortage may affect Iran’s agro product exports and also the imports will be also on the downward trend.

Farzanegan also pointed to the UAE market and said this Arab country imports food products worth of $7b per year and Brazil, UK, the U.S., France, China, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Turkey and Russia dominate this market as Brazil ranks first with exporting food products worth of $572m and Iran despite its good capacity in producing food products does not have significant share of this market.

He said according to the official statistics, petrochemicals, gas condensates, mineral and metal industries, dried-fruits, pistachio, fruit, vegetables and polymeric products were the major forex-earing goods for Iran last year.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Chairman of Iran-UAE Joint Chamber of Commerce Farshid Farzanegan believes Iran can increase its annual exports to the UAE to $11b through dialogues between the governments and joining the FATF.

Farzanegan said that the UAE government’s restriction on the banking accounts of Iranian companies and businessmen are still on, reiterating that the pressure on companies active in the specialized sectors is lower.

He said two Iranian banks of Saderat and Melli in Dubai do not have any major activities regarding the foreign trade transactions, reiterating that refrain in joining the FATF is still a big hurdle in way of foreign trade of Iranian economic activists.

Farzanegan went on to say that despite hurdles, the foreign trade of Iran and the UAE soared last year, adding that Iran’s imports from the UAE stood at $9.6b last year while its exports to this Arab country were around $4.6b and it shows their trade volume increased by 6 percent last year.

He termed the economic relations of the two countries growing and added that any opening in the ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia will boost trade relation between Iran and the UAE especially with Abu Dhabi.

Farzanegan also said that by containing the coronavirus and removal of restrictions, Dubai economy will need the presence of Iranian businessmen and tourists.

He noted that despite all restrictions against Iranian companies and tradesmen in the UAE, this country is still in better position comparing to other countries in the Persian Gulf in terms of trade.

He went on to say that the UAE has major share of the world trade comparing to the other countries in the region and therefore Dubai is a good venue for re-export of Iranian goods.

Farzanegan stated that if the approach of developing economic cooperation with the UAE is put on the agenda of Iran’s government, then Iran’s exports to this country can increase by $7b annually while the exports of $11b will also be possible.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Chairman of Iran-UAE Joint Chamber of Commerce Farshid Farzanegan believes that Iran’s market potentials link with the facilities of the countries like the UAE can increase its regional exports.

Farzanegan says Iran should continue its strategic relation with the UAE, and come out of passiveness, adding that the country should not pave the ground for the presence of rivals in the scene of the UAE market and it should strengthen and consolidate its position in the UAE market and increase its trade.

He then pointed to the trade volume of Iran and the UAE, saying that it is a considerable figure as the UAE was Iran’s second trade partner last year and this year and in the first three quarters, Iran’s exports to the UAE have been $3.3b while its imports from this Arab state have hit $6.3, and their total trade volume has stood $9.6, making the UAE the second trade partner of Iran after China.

Farzanegan went on to say that Iran and the UAE have always had considerable economic relations and despite the coronavirus pandemic and its effects on the trade of countries, Iran and the UAE trade has enhanced and this rise has not been significant but it shows their trade has found its way.

On the halt for issuing visa for Iranians by the UAE, he said although strictness against Iranian traders is on the rise but it is expected by taking appropriate stands by both countries, the trade ties would become better in the future.

Farzanegan further said that since the UAE is considered as the trade hub of the region, in case Iran’s market potentials join this hub, its regional exports will surge, adding that in the condition that countries like Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE have taken steps for normalizing their ties, this is possible that better condition would dominate the regional trade.

He added that the UAE has its most trade with Saudi Arabia and therefore, the more Iran improves its ties with its neighboring countries like the UAE, the more it can have access to the market of Saudi Arabia which is the biggest market in the southern part of the Persian Gulf and access to the North African markets via the UAE will be possible for Iran.

On replacing the UAE with other Persian Gulf states as a solution for Iranian traders, he said Iran’s total exports to other countries of the Persian Gulf hardly touch $1b while Iran’s exports to the UAE last year stood at $4.5 and this year the figure has increased in terms of volume and value.

Farzanegan noted that EXPO 221 in the UAE will be the best opportunity for Iran to ease and boos relations with this country in order to expand trade exchanges with this state.

TEHRAN (Iran News) -UAE, Jordan condemn the assassination of the Iranian scientist, In a statement on Sunday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said: “it condemns the heinous assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, which could further fuel conflict in the region.”

“Given the current situation in the region, the UAE calls upon all parties to exercise maximum degrees of self-restraint to avoid dragging the region into new levels of instability and threat to peace,” said the statement carried by the Emirates News Agency.

“The state of instability the region is currently going through, and the security challenges it faces, drive us all to work towards averting acts that could lead to escalation and eventually threaten the stability of the entire region,” it stressed

Separately, Jordan condemned the killing of the top Iranian scientist and called for collective efforts to avoid an escalation in tensions in the Middle East region.

Fakhrizadeh, who headed the Iranian Defense Ministry’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (known by its acronym SPND), was targeted on Friday in a multi-pronged attack involving at least one explosion and small fire by several assailants in Absard city of Damavand County, Tehran Province.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the assassination bears the clear hallmark of atrocities committed by the Israeli regime, which has already murdered some of Iran’s scientific elites.

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, the country’s nuclear agency, has likewise suspected Israeli involvement in both the assassination and a July incident at Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility. “It looks like the Zionist regime has a role in these issues,” AEOI Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said on Saturday.

No party has yet claimed responsibility for the atrocity.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran has begun taking crude oil from a new platform installed at Salman oilfield, a major oil reserve located in the Persian Gulf and shared with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

IRNA reported that oil production from the S1 drilling rig had started earlier in the day, some six months after the giant structure was installed in a location around 140 kilometers off the Iranian island of Lavan in the Persian Gulf.

Production began after Iranian engineers and servicemen successfully hooked up the S1 platform and tested all its installations and connections to other rigs at Salman oilfield, said the IRNA report.

Taking crude from the shared rig with UAE, which has been fully designed and built inside Iran, comes at a time of increasing efforts by Iran to maintain and boost its oil production despite a fall in sales that has come as a result of American sanctions.

Shared oilfields have been a main focus of increased output schemes in Iran. Oil Ministry authorities said earlier this week that production from oilfields located to the west of the Karun River and shared with Iraq had increased several fold in six years to reach 400,000 bpd this year.

That comes as development of oilfields faced a brief halt in recent years mainly because foreign contractors stalled the projects before leaving them under increasing American pressure.

Iran has also developed its massive natural gas reserves in the Persian Gulf, where production from South Pars, the world’s largest gas reserves which is shared with Qatar, has nearly tripled in six years to reach around 700 million cubic meters a day.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said its decision to normalize ties with Israel isn’t about countering Iran and dismissed criticism of the pact from Turkey’s president.

“This is not about Iran. This is about the ties of UAE, Israel, and the United States,” Anwar Gargash, UAE minister of state for foreign affairs, said in a phone interview, according to Reuters.

“This is in no way meant to create some sort of grouping against Iran.”

While the Trump administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have sought to frame the agreement as part of their attempt to confront and further isolate Iran, Gargash claimed that the UAE isn’t looking to provoke its near neighbor.

“We have a very complicated relationship with Iran,” he said. “While we have our concerns, we feel also that resolving these issues should be through diplomacy and de-escalation.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday said Turkey could withdraw its ambassador to the UAE over the country’s agreement with Israel, saying it dealt a blow to Palestinian rights. Gargash dismissed the statement as a “double standard” which glossed over Turkey’s own significant trade links with Israel.

“They receive over half a million Israeli tourists, have $2 billion worth of bilateral trade, and an existing embassy there. And I ask myself whether this is a principled position or not,” Gargash said.

Under the deal, Israel agreed to put aside, for now, its pledge to annex West Bank land the Palestinians want for a state. “We have been very concerned with the issue of annexation,” Gargash said. “Through this imaginative proclamation, we have at least been able to give negotiations space.”

Given the outbreak of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, throughout the world and the significance of ensuring the health and wellbeing of people, health protocols and sanitary regulations are executed in all countries while admitting and transporting exported cargos, he added.

Accordingly, health protocols are strictly observed with regards to admitting export cargoes of Iranian products to the United Arab Emirates and all Iran’s export goods are transported to the United Arab Emirates via refrigerated containers, Farzanegan noted.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to the transport of products via air and added, “some airlines transport basic commodities from the United Arab Emirates towards Iran and effective steps have been taken in this regard.”

Iran’s export of fresh fruit to UAE is of paramount importance, he said, adding, “presently, Iran’s export of fruit to the Arab country is underway without any obstacle.”
