TEHRAN (Iran News) Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says talks between Iran and the United States can be fruitful if goodwill and realism persist.

Araqchi made the remark in a phone conversation with his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, on Saturday, before returning to Tehran from Rome where Iranian and American negotiators held the second round of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions against the country.

The talks, co-chaired by Araqchi and the U.S. president’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, were held indirectly through Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi. “Iran-U.S.”

During the phone call, Araqchi briefed Tajani on the Saturday discussions, and extended his appreciation for Italy’s coordination with Oman in facilitating the talks, according to a news release shared on the Telegram page of the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

Iran’s top diplomat termed the negotiations as constructive and progressive, reaffirming that they can be fruitful if realism and good faith persist.

Tajani, for his part, praised Iran’s responsible approach and expressed gratitude for being informed of the developments.

He also reiterated Italy’s readiness to assist in advancing this diplomatic process.

TEHRAN (Iran News)  Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says the next round of negotiations between Iran and the United States will be held in Muscat, Oman.

In response to a query by IRNA late on Monday, Baqaei said that following consultations, it had been decided to hold the next round of the talks in the Omani capital on April 19.

Envoys from Iran and the United States held a brief round of preliminary indirect negotiations in Muscat on April 12. Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi shuffled between the Iranian and American delegations to relay messages. Conflicting reports had emerged about the venue for the next round of the talks. An Iranian lawmaker earlier quoted Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi as saying in a briefing to the Parliament that the next round of the negotiations would be held in Europe. Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said Takht-e-Ravanchi had told the lawmakers that Oman would nevertheless continue to mediate the talks.

Later, a Reuters report said Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani had said Rome would host the second round of the negotiations between Iran and the United States. The news organization said Italy’s ANSA news agency had first reported Tajani’s remark.

TEHRAN (Iran News)  Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, have discussed regional issues, including indirect talks between Iran and the United States.

Araqchi briefed Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the talks, which were held indirectly through Omani intermediaries in Muscat on Saturday.

The top UAE diplomat praised the Islamic Republic for its commitment to diplomacy and for engaging in indirect negotiations with the United States over the country’s nuclear program.

He expressed hope that the process would lead to positive results for Iran as well as the West Asia region.

Both Tehran and Washington described Saturday’s talks in Oman as “positive” and “constructive” and agreed to resume negotiations next week.
