TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force has launched its second homegrown satellite into a low Earth orbit (LEO), nearly two years after the launch of its first military satellite.

The IRGC successfully put Noor-2 (Light-2) into orbit on Tuesday morning. The homegrown satellite was launched with a three-stage satellite carrier, dubbed Qased (Messenger), from a launchpad in Dasht-e Kavir, a large desert in central Iran.

The satellite was launched at the velocity of 7.6 kilometers per second and was placed into an LEO orbit 500 kilometers above the earth’s surface some 480 seconds after the blast-off.

Noor-2 satellite is expected to carry out a range of military and civilian missions in Iran, including reconnaissance and natural disaster response operations.

Stating that Iran is the first Muslim country that launched satellites into orbit, the IRGC chief noted that this important achievement is not just a technical act, but overcoming the wills that wanted to stop Iran’s progress.

Speaking in the ceremony of launching the Iranian ‘Noor-2’ Satellite into orbit, IRGC top commander Major General Hossein Salami said that today, Iran is able to defeat the enemy by acquiring sophisticated technologies and turning the knowledge into successful products.

Back on April 22, 2020, the IRGC successfully placed Nour-1 into an orbit 425 kilometers above the earth’s surface.

A day later, the commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force said several earth stations across Iran had received signals from the Nour-1 satellite, unveiling plans for the launch of another satellite into a higher orbit.

Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said the Nour-1 satellite was circling the Earth once every 90 minutes.

The land stations in Tehran, Zahedan and Chabahar have received signals from the satellite, the commander noted.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson dismissed the stances adopted by France and the UK on the launch of Iranian homegrown Noor satellite as a result of double standards and accepting the US’ bullying policies.

In a statement on Friday, Seyed Abbas Mousavi slammed as unacceptable the French and British stances on the launch of Iran’s Noor (light) satellite, saying, “Employing the space technology with peaceful purposes is part of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s defense program and scientific development, and no international treaty prohibits Iran from achieving and developing such a technology which has been gained through the efforts of Iranian experts and elites.”

He strongly dismissed the one-sided interpretation of the UN Security Council Resolution 2231 offered by France and the UK, stressing, “Under the fatwa (religious ruling) of the Supreme Leader and according to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s reports, Iran’s nuclear program pursues exclusively peaceful purposes; thus Iran’s space program which has defense objectives has not been designed for any other purposes.”

“While the US has been violating each and every clause of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 every day and every moment by withdrawing from the JCPOA and imposing illegal sanctions against Iran, it is surprising that the European countries are not taking action against the US and refuse to condemn that country, and it reveals double standards and surrenders to the US’ bullying behavior in the international arena,” Mousavi deplored, according to the Foreign Ministry’s official website.

“France and the UK are expressing concern about regional security while they themselves have a long record in creating tensions in the region and their destabilizing policies are a major obstacle to the return of security and stability to the region,” the Iranian spokesperson added.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday successfully put Noor (light) into orbit. The homegrown satellite was launched with a three-stage satellite carrier, dubbed Qassed (messenger), from a launchpad in the Dasht-e Kavir, a large desert in central Iran.

The satellite has been placed into an orbit 425 kilometers above the Earth.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology said the new homegrown “Zafar” satellites are ready to be launched into orbit.

Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi announced in a post on his Twitter account on Sunday that the Zafar (victory) satellites have successfully passed the tests.

Lauding the efforts by the young Iranian scientists working on the project, he said the satellites would be deployed to the space center on Sunday and the process of launching them into orbit will soon kick-off.

Azari Jahromi also hailed the production of the homegrown satellites and satellite-carrier as a major step in space research activities.

Zafar is a monitoring satellite, which will be sent into a geostationary orbit that is a circular orbit around 36,000 kilometers (22,320 miles) above the Earth’s equator.

The satellite will reportedly have a lifespan of one year and six months and will capture images and transmit them to stations on earth.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Islamic Republic of Iran is due to send a highly advanced version satellite on discovery missions, named Zafar, as the latest breakthrough in the field of aerospace by competent experts and specialists.

The Zafar, a fully sophisticated satellite built at Iran’s University of Science and Technology, was announced by the Iranian Space Agency (ISA) on Saturday to have been placed atop the ready-to-launch list.

The new satellite, designed for an 18-month activity plan, weighs about 90 kilograms and is equipped with four color cameras to capture the Earth’s surface with a resolution of 80 meters.

Zafar is similar in size and weight to its previous version — the Payam satellite — but distinct in one way as it can move in a circular orbit and send a message alongside its exploratory missions.

In January 2019, the domestically-built Payam (Message) satellite was launched into space with an aim to collect environmental information; however, technical problems that occurred during the final stage of the launch prevented the spacecraft from reaching orbit.

Iran’s indigenous satellite launch capabilities first made headlines when the first locally-built satellite, Omid (Hope), was launched in 2009.

The country also sent its first bio-capsule containing living creatures into space in February 2010, using a Kavoshgar-3 (Explorer-3) carrier.

In February 2015, the Islamic Republic placed its domestically-made Fajr (Dawn) satellite into orbit, which is capable of taking and transmitting high-quality photos to stations on Earth.

Iran considers its space program a matter of national pride and has said its space vehicle launches are for scientific purposes.
