The Iran Football League Organization has announced that the competition will resume on June 24 with a match between Foolad and Esteghlal.

Now, the seven Iranian teams have sent a letter to Iran football federation acting president Heydar Baharvand and said they will pull out of the competition due to concerns about the coronavirus outbreak.

Tractor, Machine Sazi, Shahr Khodro, Paykan, Naft Masjed Soleyman, Nassaji, and Pars Jonoubi are the teams that have threatened to withdraw from the league.

Persepolis sits top of the table with 47 points, 10 points above Sepahan and Tractor.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday said that the football leagues will restart after the holy month of Ramadan but the competitions must be played behind closed doors.

The teams will start their training after Eid al-Fitr and three weeks later the competitions will restart.

Naft Masjed Soleyman defender Mohammad Tayyebi joined Sepahan for an undisclosed fee on Sunday.

The 33-year-old center back is Sepahan’s first signing in the January transfer window.

Tayyebi started his football career in Naft Omidiyeh in 2011 and has also played in Esteghlal Khuzestan, Qatar SC, Pars Jonoubi and Tractor.

Sepahan is seeking to win the Iran Professional League after five years.

The Isfahan-based football team sits second in the table, three points adrift of Persepolis.
