]]> TEHRAN (Iran News) – An oil tanker sought by the US over allegedly circumventing sanctions on Iran was transferred from the UAE to Iran’s waters, a report said.

The Dominica-flagged MT Gulf Sky was seized back on July 5 off the coast of the United Arab Emirates. Satellite pictures showed it is now moored in Iranian waters, according to TankerTrackers.com.

David Hammond, the CEO of the United Kingdom-based group Human Rights at Sea, said he took a witness statement from the captain of the MT Gulf Sky, confirming the ship had been recovered.

Hammond said that 26 of the Indian sailors on board had made it back to India, while two remained in Tehran.

We are delighted to hear that the crew are safe and well, which has been our fundamental concern from the outset,” Hammond told AP.

]]> TEHRAN (Iran News) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed opposition to US sanctions on Iran amid the country’s battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

In a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday, Erdogan expressed his opposition to the US sanctions and expressed hope that the international community will put up resistance in the face of American pressure.

Iran and Turkey, as two friendly and brotherly countries, will pass through these difficult times through cooperation, he added.

The Turkish president also hailed the Iranian government and nation’s “valuable” coronavirus fight despite the problems they are facing, stressing that trade between the two countries should continue in accordance with health guidelines and that officials must work toward that aim.

Rouhani, for his part, said, “Iran and Turkey have proved that they have stood together in times of hardship and difficulty, and today, we should likewise help each other by forging closer cooperation”.

Turkey has been hit the hardest by the coronavirus in the Middle East with more than 98,670 confirmed cases and 2,376 deaths.

Iran has reported almost 86,000 infections and a death toll of 5,391, while illegal US sanctions are impeding the country’s battle against the highly contagious virus.
