“According to the preparations made for increasing export from the country, and the statistics obtained so far, it is expected that Iran’s non-oil exports will reach $52 billion by the end of the year”, Alireza Peyman-Pak reiterated.

“Fortunately, in the past months, very good measures have been taken in the field of Iran’s export development, some of which have already shown their impact, and the other part will be revealed in the final statistics of our exports in the coming years”, the official added.

As announced by the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), the value of Iran’s non-oil exports rose 17.66 percent during the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2022-January 20, 2023), as compared to the same period of time in the past year, registering a new record high.

According to Mohammad Rezvani-Far, Iran exported about 103 million tons of non-oil goods valued at $45.3 billion in the mentioned 10 months, also registering a 2.93-percent increase in weight.

Liquefied natural gas was the main exported product in the said time span, accounting for 15.4 percent of the total value of the exports.

Major export destinations of the Iranian non-oil goods were China, Iraq, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and India, according to the official.

The average value of each ton of exported goods has increased from $385 in the first 10 months of last year to $440 in the current year’s same period, which indicates a growth of 14.31 percent, the IRICA head said.

As previously announced by Alireza Moqadasi, the IRICA former head, Iran exported 122 million tons of non-oil products worth $48 billion in the previous Iranian year 1400, which was $14 billion (41 percent) more than the figure for the preceding year.

The Chairman of Iran-UAE Joint Chamber of Commerce Farshid Farzanegan says it seems the trend of exports is growing upward and the trend of imports is on the decline.

Speaking t ILNA and touching upon Iran’s exports, he said Iran’s exports in the first two months of the current year have grown by 46 percent comparing to the same period last year and this volume may be affected in the upcoming months due to the water tension in the country and agro exports may slump.

Farzanegan went on to say that the non-oil exports of Iran in the first month of the year were around $3b which shows 80 percent growth in terms of value and 56 percent growth in terms of the weight comparing to the same period last year.

He also said that Iran’s imports in this period grew by 47% in terms of value and 17% in terms of weight.

Farzanegan said that in the first month of the current year, Iran’s exports were mostly to China, Iraq, the UAE, Turkey and Afghanistan as China was the top destinations for Iran’s exports with $974m. He said in the field of imports and in the same period, the UAE was Iran’s major trade partners with exporting goods worth $788m to Iran and China trailed the UAE with $656m. He noted that Russia replaced Germany as Iran’s major European exporting partner.

He noted that it seems water shortage may affect Iran’s agro product exports and also the imports will be also on the downward trend.

Farzanegan also pointed to the UAE market and said this Arab country imports food products worth of $7b per year and Brazil, UK, the U.S., France, China, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Turkey and Russia dominate this market as Brazil ranks first with exporting food products worth of $572m and Iran despite its good capacity in producing food products does not have significant share of this market.

He said according to the official statistics, petrochemicals, gas condensates, mineral and metal industries, dried-fruits, pistachio, fruit, vegetables and polymeric products were the major forex-earing goods for Iran last year.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran has exported cargoes worth $1.5 billion to Russia via Azerbaijan’s territory in 2020, said the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi.

According to the statement, in the same period last year, the value of exports amounted to $4.3 million, azernews.az reported.

The reason for this increase is the construction and commissioning of the railway between Iran and Azerbaijan. Thus, after the launch of the Astara (Iran)-Astara (Azerbaijan) line, the Iranian provinces of Gilan, Golestan, Mazandaran, Ardebil, and East Azarbaijan were able to export more products to Russia.

Presently, cargoes from the northern provinces of Iran are delivered by truck to Astara, where they are loaded in the wagons and sent to Russia through Azerbaijan.

The Astara-Astara railway is an extension of the Qazvin-Rasht railway, which is a key segment of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).

Earlier on July 10, Iran inaugurated its Chabahar-Zahedan railway line to transport cargo to Europe through Azerbaijan via Qazvin-Rasht-Astara (Iran)-Astara (Azerbaijan) railway.

The construction of this railway has important advantages, as the port of Chabahar and the national railway system are located there.

The Persian Gulf countries will use the port of Badar Abbas and Southeast Asian countries will use the port of Chabahar to trade with Europe through the INSTC.

The railway connecting the Azerbaijani and Iranian cities of Astara has already been put into operation as Azerbaijan’s infrastructure is ready to receive and send large volumes of cargo.

In addition, Azerbaijan has completed the construction of the Baku-Astara highway, as well as the Alat international sea trade port, leading to cargo transshipment increase.

Presently, the Qazvin-Rasht section of the Qazvin-Rasht-Astara railway is in operation. Work is underway on the section of the Rasht-Astara railway.

After its completion, the Chabahar-Zahedan railway, along with the Rasht-Astara railway will secure Azerbaijan’s position as an international transport hub.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – President Hassan Rouhani of Iran said that petrochemical and steel industries play a vital role in the promotion of production and in exports of non-oil products.

Rouhani referred to the producers and activists of petrochemical and steel industries as a forerunner of Iran’s important economic and export front stressing that presently exports of petrochemical and steel sectors have surpassed crude sales, Mehr News Agency (MNA) reported.

Rouhani made the remarks on July 27 in a meeting with the producers and activists of the country’s a petrochemical and steel industries.

He emphasized that self-reliance on valuable products of the petrochemical and steel sectors is an important achievement for the country.

Iran has invested $14 billion for the advancement of the second phase of improving the petrochemical sector, Rouhani said.

He appreciated efforts made by those active in the two sectors, noting that his government is proud to stand against US sanctions and foreign pressures thanks to the resistance, support, and efforts of all producers, investors, and entrepreneurs, especially those in the steel and petrochemical chains.

The President said that the efforts for the development of the country and the surge in production will continue this year and next year, adding, “With the opening of new projects in the petrochemical and steel sectors in the coming weeks and months, we will witness the process of the great development of the country and a jump in production.”

Referring to the economic war waged on Iran by enemies, the president said they thought Tehran would ask for negotiations two or three months after being pressured by tough sanctions and economic war, however, it was them who have repeatedly asked for negotiation themselves despite imposing harshest sanctions on the country during the past 27 months.

“Their sanctions are economic terrorism, and now they waged medicinal terrorism against the Iranian nation even during the coronavirus pandemic,” said the president.

Stressing that Tehran has “no problem with negotiating” or is not seeking to put up a show, Rouhani added, “First, they have to put an end to the illegal action and lift the sanctions. This is not a precondition but a fact.”

Speaking to Tasnim on Sunday, Ruhollah Latifi from Customs Office said Iran exports include 9.176 million tons of goods worth $2.648 billion in the month of Ordibehesht (April 20 – May 20).

The volume and the value of exports in that month have increased by 71 and 60 percent in comparison to the first month of the Iranian calendar, he noted.

Latifi added that the biggest importers of Iranian non-oil commodities during the 2-month period were China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, and Turkey.

In January, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the national income has gone up thanks to a rise in the exports of non-oil goods.

In a new year message in March, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei stressed the need for a further surge in the national production with the participation of all organizations and sectors, saying, “Officials should act in a way that production will witness a surge, God willing, and that there will be a tangible change in the lives of the people.”
