]]> TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi shrugged off recent threats from an Israeli official against Tehran, warning Israel that it will receive a crushing response in case of any stupid action against Iran’s interests across the region and Syria.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mousavi dismissed the claims and threats from an official of Israel against Iran, stressing, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will show a crushing and regrettable response to any act of aggression or stupid measure from that regime (Israel) against our country’s interests in Syria and the region.”

He also highlighted the terrorist and occupying nature of the Zionist regime, adding, “The foundation and nature of this regime have been based upon the occupation of the Palestinian territory and the neighboring states, upon carnage, plundering the assets (of other nations), terror and aggression over the past 70 years.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has been present in Syria at the invitation and with the agreement of that country’s government with the purpose of fighting against terrorism sponsored by the US and Israel, and our country will not hesitate for a moment over safeguarding its presence in Syria and defending its national security and regional interests and will give a decisive and crushing response to any act of aggression or stupid move,” he added.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will also prosecute the Quds-occupying regime (Israel) for its threats and warmongering comments at the international circles,” the spokesperson stated.

His comments came after the Zionist regime’s defense minister, Naftali Bennett, said his regime has taken responsibility for countering the Islamic Republic in Syria.

Speaking at a campaign event on Saturday, Bennett said Tel Aviv and Washington have agreed to work in tandem to block what he called Tehran’s efforts to create a corridor for transferring men and materiel through Iraq and Syria to Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Russia ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan said that his country and Iran have played a key role in preventing terrorists from establishing their rule in Syria.

“If not for Russia and Iran, terrorists would have already won in Syria,” he said on Monday, Tass reported on Tuesday. “Thanks to our efforts, the legitimate government of [President] Bashar Assad is now in power. Even our adversaries admit it, albeit reluctantly.”

According to the Russian diplomat, Russian-Iranian relations have been on the rise in past years.

“This is mostly due to the fact that on many issues our positions are either close or overlapping. Syria has become one of the cooperation areas that have proven its efficiency,” he added.

“Fighting terrorism is a common challenge for Iran and Russia,” the ambassador continued. “We also have common goals and tasks regarding other regional problems. Besides, our countries are under Western sanctions. This certainly makes us closer.”

Russia and Iran stepped up bilateral cooperation in past years. Among other things, Moscow and Iran, together with Ankara, are the state guarantors of the Astana process on Syrian reconciliation. Besides, the Russian authorities consistently support preserving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran’s nuclear program and condemn the unilateral withdrawal of the United States.
