According to the company, Director of Consolidated Planning of NIDC Babak Zangeneh said the wells included 2 development wells and 4 workover projects, Shana reported on Saturday.

All the wells are in the fields operated by the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).

NIDC enjoys 70 offshore and land drilling rigs.

In late January, an official with the company had said that drillings of oil and gas wells have hit over 132,000 meters during the past 10 months. Mohammad Al-Khamis, the company’s drilling operations deputy, noted that among the wells were 35 development/appraisal wells, 2 exploration wells, and 59 workover operations.

“Of the two last platforms at South Pars gas field, one was installed today and the next platform will be installed before (March 20),” Iran oil minister, Zanganeh said, according to Reuters.

“And so we will have all the platforms of the 27 phases of South Pars, which will enable us to produce more than one billion cubic meters of gas per day.”

South Pars, which Qatar calls North Field, is the world’s largest gas field and is shared between Iran and Qatar.

Separately, Zanganeh said that coronavirus is to blame for price fluctuations in the oil market and economy in the globe as well.

Several countries in the region have closed their borders with Iran and put in place air travel restrictions after people infected with coronavirus arrived from the Islamic Republic by flights or so.

Despite the air travel restrictions, Zanganeh said that he would attend a meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Vienna next week using Iran Air flights.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said the country’s daily extraction of natural gas from the South Pars gas field has overtaken Qatar’s daily output from the joint field.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting on Tuesday night, Zanganeh highlighted the rise in gas extraction from joint field with neighboring countries and said, “In South Pars, Iran had a brilliant performance.”

“Our production there increased very much and we were able to reach 670 million cubic meters (mcm) in the current year which is 2.4 times higher compared to 280 mcm in 2013,” he said.

“Fortunately, our daily production of gas has overtaken Qatar’s,” the oil minister went on to say.

Back in September, Zanganeh had said that the country’s gas extraction from the South Pars would reach 750 mcm per day by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 2020).

South Pars, whose development has been divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.

It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers belongs to Iran.

It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
