TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh announced that Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation will visit Pakistan on Tuesday to meet with Pakistani senior officials.

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Khatibzadeh said, “During the two-day visit to Pakistan, Zarif will have meetings with Pakistani senior political and military officials”.

Zarif is due to meet with Pakistan Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, he added.

In response to a question of whether any connection has been made with Joe Biden’s team before and after the US’ presidential election, Khatibzadeh said, “Basically, Iran will have no connection with anybody beyond the issues related to JCPOA. On the other hand, a new administration has not yet taken power in the US. Iran will make its decisions according to the new situation after Biden’s administration takes office. What matters is actions, not words and speculations”.

“Iran’s policies are unaffected by the US administrations. The party that has violated commitments and has also threatened the others to breach the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was the US. We must witness reforms of US policies in all spheres, then we will judge on the basis of the measures,” he added.

Touching upon the decision of the Iraqi parliament about the issue of the US terrorist attack to assassinate Lt General Qassem Soleimani in the Iraqi soil last January and the end of Trump’s immunity as his rival Biden won the 2020 presidential election, the spokesman said the agents who committed such crime are on Iran’s list.

“In line with following up the case, Iran has had close cooperation with different sectors in Iraq,” Khatibzadeh added.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Mohammad Javad Zarif, in a virtual speech on Monday at the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly, said that it was time for the 193-member world body “to recommit itself to stand up — united — against unilateralism and war” promoted by the United States.

Here is the text of his speech:

Mr. President,

Seventy-five years ago, the United Nations was founded to restore international peace and security in the aftermath of two horrific wars. But how successful have we been?

According to a new study, since 2001—ironically, the “United Nation’s Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations”—37 million people have been displaced as a result of the U.S. “Forever Wars”.

The eight violent wars that the US initiated or joined since 2001—under the rubric of “War on Terror”—have resulted in the loss of hundreds of thousands of innocent lives, countless broken societies and families, failed and failing states and unprecedented extremism.

So today, we should be asking ourselves:

Whether our world is more—or less—secure than it was in 1945;

“Zarif urges UN to unite against US unilateral actions”

How we can counter the unilateralism and disdain for international law by a bully that only knows wielding a big stick and speaking arrogantly;

And how we can contain a power that has spent over 220 of its total 244 year-history in war: from the wars on its native population, to the war on its enslaved population—which continues with extreme brutality—and to the 39 military conflicts and nearly 120 economic wars—it deceptively calls “sanctions”—since 1945. Against any entity that hasn’t submitted to its whims.

Ironically, it keeps losing its “Forever Wars”.

In fact, no one wins in a war.

It’s time to change tack—saving American blood and treasure and sparing the world from further misery.

“Zarif urges UN to unite against US unilateral actions”

Dear Friends,

Complacency is the oxygen that the US needs to continue its bullying. U.S. appetite only grows by appeasement; by submitting to its unlawful measures against others, in the hope of avoiding its wrath. It does not work, my friends.

Our United Nations at 75 needs to recommit itself to stand up—united—against unilateralism and war.

I thank you.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – It does not matter for Iran who will win the upcoming presidential election in the US, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, noting that there is a clear path for Washington to reverse its hostile policies against Tehran.

“It is not important at all what is said inside the election campaigns in the US. Our criterion is the (UNSC) Resolution (2231) and the JCPOA,” Saeed Khatibzadeh told Tasnim at a press conference on Monday, when asked about the reports that the election campaign of US Democratic candidate Joe Biden has cited a change in the timing of the JCPOA articles after the US’ withdrawal from the deal.

Trump has pulled the US out of the JCPOA and has brazenly displayed his signature on the withdrawal order, the spokesman deplored. “It does not make much difference which party takes the power (in the US). If the US intends to return to the correct path, the road is clear.”

Washington must admit to making a mistake, stop the economic war and terrorism against Iran, return to its JCPOA commitments, and make up for the damages caused by its withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal, the Iranian spokesman added.

In remarks in September, Iran’s permanent representative and ambassador to the United Nations Majid Takht-Ravanchi said it does not matter to the Islamic Republic who wins the US presidential election as long as Washington has not shifted its unlawful policy of sanctions.

In July, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said no matter who wins the 2020 presidential election in the US, the next American administration must compensate the Islamic Republic for the losses that its predecessor has inflicted on the Iranian people.

“It is not important for us who will win the upcoming election in the US, but it is important for us to see Washington rectify its approach towards Tehran,” Zarif said.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Iranian spokesman described the Saudi claim as “a rehash of old accusations”.

“The recent accusations levelled by Saudi officials against the Islamic Republic of Iran are in line with the country’s invalid and repetitive positions over the past years,” he said.

“By abandoning political wisdom, and, this time, in the form of a threadbare show, Saudi rulers have fabricated a false case against Iran as a ploy to deflect public attention in order to cover up its own failed moves.

“The Saudi rulers’ move to hurl hackneyed, cliché and worthless accusations (against Iran) is not a path that would help the Arab country achieve its goals,” Khatibzadeh added.

“We recommend Saudi Arabia opt for the path of honesty and wisdom rather than playing out worthless and dictated scenarios,” the Iranian spokesperson underlined.

His comments came after Saudi Arabia said it has taken down a “terrorist cell”, alleging that the group had received training from Iran.

The spokesman for the presidency of state security said in a statement published on the state-run Saudi Press Agency on Monday that three of the 10 people arrested had been trained in Iran while the rest were “linked to the cell in various roles”.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh criticized US president’s speech at the UN 75th General Assembly saying he “mistook the United Nations for the United States once again.”

“@RealDonaldTrump mistook United Nations for the United States once again. He addressed #UN75 like a campaign rally- glorifying his failed #OnlyAmerica policy & blaming others for crises of his own making: from his disastrous handling of Covid19 to his fanning of int’l tensions,” Khatibzadeh wrote on his Twitter account on Wednesday.

As of Tuesday evening, more than 6,916,400 people in the United States have been infected with the coronavirus and at least 200,600 have died, according to a New York Times database.

However, Trump and his people have routinely dismissed experts’ assessments of the gravity of the pandemic, and of the measures needed to bring it under control. They have tried to muzzle scientists who dispute the administration’s rosy spin.

Earlier in the day, Khatibzadeh said in another tweeted message that the US government is isolating itself with a very steep slope.

“The world’s response to the US was a big No. The US government is isolating itself with a very steep slope and very fast.”

Khatibzadeh was referring to Trump’s latest humiliating failure last month at the UN when he was left isolated on the world stage as foreign allies and opponents alike declared demand to restore UN sanctions on Iran illegal and doomed to failure.

Trump administration said it is “snapping back” virtually all UN sanctions on Iran lifted under the nuclear accord with Tehran, negotiated under former president Barack Obama but which Trump abandoned in 2018.

Washington says it can reimpose the sanctions because it is still a “participant” in the accord, officially referred to as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), but Europe denounces the position as legally untenable.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman rejected baseless claims by certain US media describing them as “sheer lies” and called on Washington to act responsibly and leave Afghanistan as soon as possible.

Saeed Khatibzadeh urged US to “end its catastrophic presence in Afghanistan instead of putting the blame on others,” mfa.gov.ir reported on Tuesday.

Khatibzadeh, who has recently replaced Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, made the remarks while reacting to some US media reports that certain governments have paid Taliban militants to kill American troops in Afghanistan.

The US is stuck in a self-made quagmire in Afghanistan and the blood of American soldiers is shed thousands of miles away from their country because of White House’s wrong policies, which have resulted in war and bloodshed of innocent people of Afghanistan for many years, said the spokesman.

He added that the US government, which has no response to the families of its killed soldiers in Afghanistan, is seeking to cover up its miscalculations by propaganda through its media.

Khatibzadeh also had categorically dismissed on Monday “baseless” claims by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that Iran is sending weapons to Taliban militant group, saying what is happening now in Afghanistan is the outcome of the US warmongerings in the Asian country.

The accusations leveled by the US secretary of state amount to a type of blame game and an attempt at diverting the public opinion from Washington’s instances of assistance to Daesh terrorist group, IRNA reported.

“What is going on in Afghanistan today is the result of US warmongering and intervention in the country’s affairs,” Khatibzadeh said.

In a statement on Monday, Saeed Khatibzadeh rejected as baseless the allegations that the US state secretary has made against Iran on delivering weapons to the Taliban, saying, “What is going on in Afghanistan today is the result of the US’ warmongering acts and interference in the affairs of Afghanistan.”

“The accusations leveled by the state secretary of the United States is sort of shifting the blame onto others and an attempt to divert public opinion of the Afghan people from Washington’s assistance to Daesh (ISIS),” Khatibzadeh added.

“The US has not still given the public opinion an explanation for the nature of the helicopters flying in the airspace of Afghanistan under the control of NATO for supporting Daesh,” he added.

His comments came after US State Secretary Mike Pompeo accused Iran and Russia of arming the Taliban.

“We’ve made clear we know the history, we know that the Russians have armed the Taliban in the past, right. We know that the Iranians continue to arm them today. So we know these facts,” Pompeo claimed in an interview with Radio Free Europe.
