Production by major automakers exceeds 429,000 in H1

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Production by major automakers exceeds 429,000 in H1. Three major Iranian carmakers, namely Iran Khodro Company (IKCO), SAIPA Group, and Pars Khodro, manufactured 429,414 vehicles during the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-Septemebr 22), the data released by Codal website showed.

According to the data, the production by the mentioned companies has risen just 0.837 percent compared to the previous year’s same six months in which the output stood at 425,695.

During the said six months, IKCO manufactured 205,934 vehicles, which was 2.7 percent less than the output in the first half of the previous year.

During this period, this industrial group was able to produce 135,587 vehicles in the Peugeot group, 25,738 vehicles in the Samand group, 25,626 Dena vehicles, 14,130 Rana vehicles, 2,689 Haima vehicles, and 2,061 Tara vehicles.

SAIPA manufactured 165,463 vehicles in the mentioned period. Production by this automaker rose 0.53 percent in comparison to the previous year’s same time span.

Pars Khodro also manufactured 58,017 vehicles in the period under review, 17.3 percent more than the output in the first half of the past year.

Last month, new Industry, Mining and Trade Minister Seyyed Reza Fatemi Amin said that his ministry has a two-year plan for the auto industry based on which this industry will undergo serious changes and improve significantly.

“We must strengthen competition, improve management and economic mechanisms, and increase production in the auto industry in order to succeed in our plans,” Fatemi Amin said.

“Our plan is to produce 1.6 million vehicles next year (begins in March 2022), which will increase to three million units in [the Iranian calendar year] 1404 (begins in March 2025), and 30 percent of the production, equivalent to about one million units, should be sent to export markets,” he added.

Iran’s major carmakers had manufactured 900,714 vehicles in the previous year (ended on March 20), which was 4.3 percent more than the figure of its preceding year.

According to Codal data, during the past year, IKCO manufactured 480,338 vehicles, which was 21.9 percent more than the output in its preceding year, which was 393,812 vehicles.

SAIPA manufactured 317,321 vehicles, with a 12.6-percent fall from 363,379 vehicles manufactured in 1398. And Pars Khodro manufactured 103,055 vehicles in the past year, showing a 2.8-percent drop from the output of its previous year, which was 106,072 vehicles.

Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry’s programs for the current Iranian calendar year show that the manufacturing of 1.2 million cars has been put on the agenda.

According to the Industry Ministry data, since Iranian automakers had produced 984,200 such vehicles in the previous calendar year, the country’s car output is planned to increase by over 21.9 percent in the current year.

Iran to mass produce fully homemade car in 2021

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Iran Khodro Company (IKCO), the largest carmaker in Iran, said mass production for its fully homemade car will begin early next year amid efforts to make the automotive industry in the country less vulnerable to foreign sanctions.

The IKCO said the K132, a sedan based on its Samand model, will hit the market in February as a first fully homemade car that would rely up to 92.5 percent on suppliers in Iran for parts and designs, Press TV reported.

The carmaker said a first version of the car would be equipped with an EC5 engine and a manual transmission while later models would be supplied with an automatic gearbox and a turbocharged engine.

It said other options on the manual K132 will include electric power steering, modern braking systems, two front-seat airbags, and cruise control.

On fuel efficiency, the model would be equipped with Euro-5 emissions-control technology and its average consumption will be 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers, said the IKCO.

The K132 had been unveiled in a ceremony last February in the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran.

Its planned mass production will come despite the American sanctions that have caused problems for carmakers in Iran as they have struggled to access spare parts and technologies needed to finish a series of models jointly developed with Western companies.

However, homegrown efforts by the IKCO and Saipa, Iran’s second-largest carmaker, have helped fill a void created by the sanctions as they have introduced new models to respond to a growing demand for modern and efficient cars in Iran.

Iran automaker to unveil 9 new models in coming years

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran automaker is going to launch nine new models within the next three years, IRNA reported on Saturday, quoting IKCO vice president for research and development.

According to the Vice president of this automaker company, Rana Plus, Soren Plus, Samand Optimal, Automatic Dana Plus, and Peugeot Panorama are five models that will be developed in the upcoming year, while K132s, Crossover K125s, and Hatchback K121s, as well as a Hybrid Dena, will also be launched in Iran by January 2023.

He described IKCO’s development plans as measures taken for maintaining the production boom and counteracting the effects of the U.S. sanctions on the country’s automotive industry.

Referring to the design of a proprietary platform for IKCO vehicles, Pourmojib noted: “The development of this platform will be up to date and in compliance with the highest standards and requirements of domestic laws and even export markets.”

According to the data released by the Codal website, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2019-February 19, 2020) IKCO manufactured 357,859 vehicles.

Last week, the Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry announced that Iranian carmakers manufactured 612,000 passenger cars during the first 10 months of the current year.

Iran has been following a program for supporting domestic manufacturing of auto parts since due to the U.S. sanctions the country’s automakers have been facing some problems in supplying their needed parts and equipment.

Industry, Mining and Trade Minister Reza Rahmani has said that the policy of domestic manufacturing of auto parts should be seriously followed up and in this due capable manufacturers should be supported.
