Kiomars Heidari went on to say that Iran is the safest country in the region, and that the Armed Forces, led by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the commander-in-chief, ensure regional security.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is the safest country in the region and Iran’s Armed Forces maintain regional security under the leadership of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei,” Heidari stated.

The brigadier general also said, “The presence of army forces at the border does not mean that the country is in danger, but that’s because of greater readiness and intelligence superiority at the borders.”

In mid-February, General Heidari emphasized investment in automated and smart long-range and precision-striking weapons in relevant statements.

“Today, the Army is investing in automated and smart long-range weapons with pinpoint accuracy,” Heidari said.

He also announced the launching of a missile unit in the Army Ground Forces and stated that the military fore has been supplied with the required resources to improve its weapons.

“The new equipment is proper for rapid reaction forces and will replace the old ones,” General Heidari remarked.

“The army’s combat might is very well and it can defeat any enemy in the shortest time possible,” Kiomarsh Heidari said while addressing troops in Shiraz.

“Well, there is no enemy deployed at our borders at the time, but we must permanently be vigilant in order not to be surprised by the enemies,” Heidari noted.

Touching upon ground force’s units deployed in Shiraz, the commander said, “These troops, including the 37th armored brigade, the armored training center, and the 55th airborne brigade are unique and strategic that are shouldering a key role in trainings of new forces and enhancing combat might of the ground force.”

Iran has conducted major military drills in recent years to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and state-of-the-art equipment.

In November, the ground force staged large-scale military drills, codenamed “Zolfaghar-e-Velayat”, in northwest Iran to boost the combat readiness of its units. It covered a vast strategic area in the region.

Various divisions of the ground forces participated in the drill, which was focused on practicing the transfer of rapid reaction units via ground and air from across the country to operation zones. The enlisted units also displayed their efficacy to enhance their readiness in responding to operational requirements and threats through day and night.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a massive air defense drill on Thursday, Brigadier General Alireza Sabahi Fard, giving warning against violation of Iran’s airspace, advised the enemies not to test Iran’s air defense capabilities, because any aerial violation will subject them to humiliation.

He also noted that the ongoing air defense drill in northern parts of Iran includes tactics to exercise the “toughest and most actual combat conditions.”

The general explained that a series of homegrown cutting-edge systems and weapons have been employed in the war game.

According to Sabahi Fard, the drill zone has been configured to simulate the situation at the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

“All of the equipment and systems that we use for discovering, detection and engagement (with hostile targets) over the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz are available in the (drill) theater,” he added.

The joint air defense exercise, codenamed ‘Guardians of Velayat Sky-98’, began on Thursday in an area of 416,000 square kilometers mostly in the province of Semnan.

The war game is aimed at boosting the combat preparedness and consolidate the air defense capabilities of the Armed Forces in simulated real-war conditions.

The drill includes various types of homegrown missile systems and radars countering aerial threats in low, medium and high altitudes.
