TEHRAN (Iran News) Modi took to his X social media platform on Tuesday night to express satisfaction over his encounter with Pezeshkian and wrote in Farsi the full range of discussion on bilateral relations between the two countries.”Indian”

“I had a very good meeting with Iranian President, Mr. Masoud Pezeshkian. We examined the full range of relations between our two countries”, Modi said his X message that he posted with his pictures with the Iranian president.

“We also discussed (in this meeting) ways to deepen relations in very advanced and modern sectors”, Modi added in his message.

Iran and India, as two countries with rich and ancient cultures and civilizations, have had close and friendly relations throughout history. Last year, India hailed Iran’s official entry into 10 member BRICS bloc.

Iran will likely use the BRICS summit as an opportunity to pursue more trade and financial partnerships with its allies, as a part of the country’s “Look to the East” policy.

“Trade protectionism and unilateral policies are now actively gaining momentum, and the issue of how to respond to US pressure and trade protectionism is important not only for China… It will be reasonable if the leaders of the two countries exchange views [on the issue], and we hope that they will reach a broad consensus on issues of upholding justice and opposing trade protectionism,” Zhang said during a press-conference, Sputnik reported.

Zhang also specified that Xi and Modi might also discuss the trade war between the United States and China, noting that this issue could become an important point for negotiations during the Chinese president’s bilateral meetings with leaders of other countries.

The next SCO summit will be held in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek from June 13-14.

In late May, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin would hold talks with Modi during the summit.

The United States and China have been trying to overcome disagreements that emerged in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s decision last June to impose 25 percent tariffs on $50 billion worth of Chinese goods in a bid to fix the trade deficit. Since then, the sides have exchanged several rounds of duties.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran supports any measure which is in line with the Kashmiri nation’s interests,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said.

He further voiced Tehran’s preparedness to take effective steps to ease tensions if asked by both sides.

A security clampdown and a strike sponsored by separatists fighting against Indian rule shut down most of Indian-administered Kashmir on Monday, a day after deadly protests and fierce fighting killed 16 combatants and four civilians.

Media reports said that armed police and paramilitary soldiers in riot gear fanned out across the region and patrolled streets in anticipation of anti-India protests and clashes.

Authorities also imposed a curfew in some towns in southern Kashmir and in the old parts of the disputed region’s main city of Srinagar, the urban center of protests and clashes against Indian rule.

Shops and businesses closed in other areas where no security restrictions were in place.

Authorities shut schools and colleges and canceled university exams in an attempt to stop protests by students. Troops laid steel barricades and razor wire on roads and intersections to cut off neighborhoods as authorities anticipated widespread protests.

At least 13 Kashmiri rebels and three Indian army soldiers were killed in Sunday’s fighting in three gunbattles in southern Kashmir.

As the fighting raged, large anti-India protests erupted in several parts of Indian-controlled Kashmir and at least four civilians were killed and dozens injured.
