Over A Ton of Morphine Seized in Southern Iran

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Police forces of Kerman province, in southern Iran, have busted a big consignment of illicit drugs, including more than one ton of morphine in the city of Jiroft.

Police Commander of Kerman Province Second Brigadier General Abodlreza Nazeri said on Tuesday that the confiscated narcotics, which had been embedded in a trailer, were captured in Jiroft following series of intelligence operations by local police forces, Mehr News Agency (MNA) reported.

He added the drugs had been loaded from the eastern borders, and the smugglers intended to transport them through the Jiroft-Rabor road to the central parts of the country.

During the operations, the police forces seized 1,187 kg of morphine, and arrested one smuggler, Nazeri said.

Iran has been actively fighting drug-trafficking over the past three decades, despite its high economic and human costs.

The war on drug trade originating from Afghanistan has claimed the lives of nearly 4,000 Iranian police officers over the past four decades. The country has spent more than hundreds of millions of dollars on sealing its borders and preventing the transit of narcotics destined for European, Arab, and Central Asian countries.

Iran Intelligence Dismantles Drug Gang in NW

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian Intelligence forces have identified and dismantled an international drug smuggling gang in West Azarbaijan Province, northwest Iran.

According to the released statement of the Iran intelligence ministry, through extensive operations carried out by the Intelligence Ministry forces, an international drug smuggling gang has been identified and dismantled in West Azarbaijan Province

Following an armed clash between the Intelligence Ministry forces and the smugglers, the European leader of the gang was killed and the other 7 key members of the gang who were trying to transfer the illicit drug consignment to European countries were arrested.

The Intelligence Ministry forces managed to confiscate 1,100 kilograms of heroin during the operation.

Being a neighbor to the biggest producer of drugs in the world has caused the Islamic Republic of Iran to shoulder a heavy burden as one of the main routes for drug transport. Iran is at the forefront of the fight against drug trafficking and thousands of Iranian forces have been so far martyred to protect the world from the danger of drugs. Despite high economic and human costs, the Islamic Republic has been actively fighting drug trafficking over the past decades.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Police commander of Yazd Province of Iran reported that 1,028 kilograms of illicit drugs were confiscated by anti-narcotics police during the last 24 hours.

The police commander of Yazd Province of Iran, Brigadier General Abbas Ali Behdani announced that during the last 24 hours, with the efforts made by the anti-narcotics police 1,028 kilograms of illicit drugs have been discovered and confiscated in three separate operations from three passing vehicles, and in this regard, 9 offenders were arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities.

According to the commander Since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2020), the anti-narcotics police have confiscated 17tons of illicit drugs from passing vehicles in the province.

Police bust 2 tons of drugs in SE Iran

According To Iran News, Iran Border Police have confiscated over 2 tons of illicit drugs from a depot at a border village in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Commander of Iran’s Border Guards Brigadier-General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi broke the news on Friday, saying his forces gathered intelligence on the activities of a drug band at Rootak border region of Khash County and found out that the smugglers had plans to transfer the narcotics into the country.

He noted that tracking the band’s activities, the Police Force of Saravan entered an armed conflict with the smugglers, during which they managed to bust 2,320 kilograms of opium and a number of rifles and ammunition.

According to reports, in 2018 alone, Iranian forces carried out 1,557 operations against drug traffickers, seizing approximately 807 tons of different types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Over 23 tons of narcotics seized in Iran in a week

According To Iran News, Over 23 tons of different illicit drugs have been busted by Iran’s anti-narcotics police forces in the country in the last week, according to an official.

International Deputy of Iran Drug Control Headquarters Nasser Aslani said on Tuesday that a total of 23,072 kilograms of illicit drugs have been seized by police forces across the country in the last week.

The figure indicates a 39 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year, he added.

According to Aslani, 19,499 kilograms of opium, 2,363 kilograms of hashish, 705 kilograms of morphine, 305 kilograms of heroin, 140 kilograms of crystal, 32 kilograms of grass, and 78 kilograms of other kinds of drugs have been confiscated by anti-narcotics police forces during several operations in the country.

3,815 smugglers have been arrested and 475 vehicles and some ammunition seized in the same period by police forces, he said.

Based on the United Nations reports, Afghanistan ranks first as the producer of opium and heroin in the world. Iran, being Afghanistan’s neighbor, has always been the main route for smuggling narcotics to the Western world.

Over 2 ton of illicit drugs seized in Iran’s Mirjaveh

According To Iran News, The police force of the Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran, have seized a big haul of different drugs in the southeastern borders.

Commander of Sistan and Baluchestan Border Guards Colonel Mohammad Mollashahi said on Sunday that some 2,306 kilograms of different drugs were seized during a clash between the police forces and a gang attempting to smuggle the drugs into the country through Mirjaveh borders.

Some 2,070 kilograms of opium and 143 kilograms of hashish, 60 kilograms of crystal, and 33 kilograms of other types of drugs were seized in the operation in addition to confiscation of a large number of weapons and ammunition, he added.

According To Iran News, Iran’s Border Guard Commander Brigadier General Ghasem Rezaie informed on Sunday that Anti-narcotics police forces have seized 2.306 tons of illicit drugs at Iran-Pakistan Mirjaveh border, in the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

Following comprehensive intelligence operations, anti-narcotics police forces identified the heavy consignment of illegal drugs, he said.

The guards, as he informed, could seize two sedans, warm weapons, 2.36 tons of drugs including 2.070 tons of opium, 143 kilograms of hashish, 60 kilograms of crystal, and 33 kilograms of other illegal drugs.

Iran’s maritime guards confiscate illicit drugs over 5 tons in S Iran

According To Iran News, According to Navy Commander of Bushehr Province, maritime guards have seized 5,937 kilograms of different illicit drugs since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2019).

The Second Brigadier General Valiollah Rezaie Nezhad said on Tuesday that 5.937 tons of narcotics have been busted in the province from 21 March 2019 to 22 February 2020 which indicates a 48 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year.

28 smugglers have also been arrested and one of them has been killed at the same time and handed over to judiciary officials, he added.

According to Rezaie Nezhad, 6 vessels, two motorcycles, and two cars have been seized in this regard.

He also noted that some 316,843 liters smuggled fuel has been identified and confiscated by maritime guards during the same period.

According to the World Drug Report 2019” of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, in 2017, Iran had seized the largest quantity of opiates, accounting for 39% of the global total.

Illicit drugs seized in Qom province

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The police forces of Qom Province have intercepted 1,006 kilograms of illicit drugs on Dilijan-Salafchegan road.

The Police Chief of Qom Province Second Brigadier General Abdolreza Aghakhani said on Tuesday that the police forces of the province confiscated 1.006 tons of illicit drugs and opium in collaboration with police forces of Lorestan Province.

The smuggler was planning to transfer the consignment to Qom province, he added.

One smuggler has been arrested and one vehicle seized during the operation, according to the police chief.

The war on drug trade originating from Afghanistan has claimed the lives of nearly 4,000 Iranian police officers over the past four decades.

During the first month of 2020, it is the fifth large cargo of illicit drugs which is confiscated by anti-narcotics police forces across Iran territory.

Drugs seized in Yazd as much as 1.2 tons

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s anti-narcotics police forces have seized 1,270 kilograms of illicit drugs in a single operation in the central province of Yazd, a provincial police commander announced on Sunday.

Second Brigadier General Mohammadreza Mir-Heidari said that following comprehensive intelligence activities, the police forces traced the haul of the illicit drugs in a sedan, which was destined for the northern parts of Iran and seized the convoy in Yazd.

According to him, the consignment included 850 kilograms of opium and 430 kilograms of morphine.

The offender was also captured during the operation, he added.

The police chief noted that the illegal load had entered Yazd from the southeastern parts of the country, which borders Afghanistan.

A total of 27,000 kilograms of different drugs have been captured in the province since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started in March 2019).
