Local sources said the Houthis have Gained control of Al-Sadara strategic area as well as the Al-Kula region, adding that violent clashes were taking place between the Houthis backed by tribesmen, and the ex-Yemeni government militants backed Saudi Arabia in the Al-Manqil area near Al-Jawba.

Yemen’s Ansarullah Urges Riyadh to End Aggression, Blockade

According To Iran News, The leader of Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement warned Saudi Arabia about the consequences of its ongoing campaign of blockade and aggression against the country.

According to a statement by the spokesman for Ansarullah, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, during a meeting with the visiting United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths in the capital Sana’a on Monday, Abdul Malik Badruddin al-Houthi highlighted the fact that the Saudi military option had miserably failed to advance peace and security in the region.

The Ansarullah leader also urged an end to the conflict and the lifting of the blockade, while calling for a solution to more than four years of the bloody war the regime in Riyadh imposed on Yemen, Press TV reported.

He blamed Saudi Arabia for obstructing prisoner swap under an agreement reached after UN-sponsored peace negotiations in Sweden last year. Houthi pointed to initiatives developed by Ansarullah for the release of hundreds of prisoners in line with the deal.

Griffiths is in Sana’a to work for the implementation of the Stockholm agreement.

In December 2018, Ansarullah delegates and loyalists to Yemen’s former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi held a round of peace talks in Rimbo, north of the Swedish capital, which culminated in the announcement of the Stockholm agreement.

The document included three provisions, namely a ceasefire along the Hudaydah front and the redeployment of armed forces out of the city and its port, an agreement on prisoner exchange, and a statement of understanding on the Yemeni city of Ta’izz.

The port of Hudaydah is the main entry point for humanitarian aid into Yemen.

There have been several attempts to end the Saudi war on Yemen so far, all in vain due to Riyadh’s intransigence.

Ansarullah has been bringing to a halt its retaliatory missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia since last month.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched the devastating campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of Hadi back to power and crushing Ansarullah.

The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war has claimed more than 91,000 lives so far.

The war has also taken a heavy toll on the country’s infrastructure, destroying hospitals, schools, and factories. The UN says over 24 million Yemenis are in dire need of humanitarian aid, including 10 million suffering from extreme levels of hunger.

Iran’s Zarif, Yemeni Top Official Meet in Tehran

According To Iran News, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the spokesman for Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement, Mohammad Abdul-Salam, held talks in Tehran on a range of issues, including the latest efforts to help end the Saudi-led war on the Arabian Peninsula country.

Speaking at the meeting held in Tehran on Saturday, Zarif expressed deep sorrow over the suffering of the Yemeni people and the Saudi blockade on the Country.

He further called for an immediate end to the killing of Yemeni civilians and the removal of the cruel blockade on them.

The Iranian top diplomat also described political solutions as the only way to resolve the Yemeni crisis, and voiced Tehran’s support for Yemeni-Yemeni talks and its readiness to send humanitarian aid to Yemen.

Abdul-Salam, for his part, expressed his gratitude to the Islamic Republic and briefed Zarif on the latest developments in Yemen.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than four years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The Saudi war has impacted over seven million children in Yemen who now face a serious threat of famine, according to UNICEF figures. Over 6,000 children have either been killed or sustained serious injuries since 2015, UN children’s agency said. The humanitarian situation in the country has also been exacerbated by outbreaks of cholera, polio, and measles.

Iran News quotes an interview with ILNA on Sunday, The Houthi official said “Ansarullah’s Peace Initiative which proposed by President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat, is still on the table and if the Saudi authorities turn down an offer for truce and continue to bomb, aerial strikes on targets deep inside the Saudi territories will continue and even increase.

“A large-scale operation codenamed “Nasr Min Allah” that inflicted heavy losses on the Saudi forces in Najran, comes after weeks of planning to deceive enemy forces,” he said. Adding that during the operation Ansarullah forces destroyed several Saudi-led brigades and marked the largest operation by Ansarullah over the past five years.

Al-Assad explained that during the operation, thousands of them, most of them traitors, were captured, including Saudi commanders, soldiers and officers.

He also referred to the recent release of coalition prisoners by Ansarullah and said the prisoners are more than 30000 people, including some wounded, who were taken to hospital; noting that the brigades were mostly made up of Takfiri fighters.

And also, the head of Yemen’s National Committee for Prisoners Affairs (NCPA) stated the Ansarullah movement released 350 prisoners, including three Saudi nationals, in its latest goodwill gesture. According to the report, the prisoners were released under the supervision of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The Ansarullah official said “The Americans are the ones who are leading the attack on Yemen’s people behind the scenes and Saudis are a puppet in their hands.” Adding that if US government was serious about peace would certainly have done it.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating campaign against Yemen in March 2015 and made aggressive attack on Yemen’s people with the goal of bringing the government of fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power and crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement.

“I don’t think it would be the right thing to blame Iran,” Erdogan said in an interview with Fox News broadcast on Wednesday, adding that the attacks came from several parts of Yemen.

“If we just place the entire burden on Iran, it won’t be the right way to go. Because the evidence available does not necessarily point to that fact,” Erdogan said, according to a translation of his comments broadcast by Fox.

Recently, the leaders of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom in a joint statement condemned the attacks on oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais, and pinned the blame on Tehran.

In response, Iran’s foreign minister criticized statement, calling on them to stop “parroting absurd US claims”.

The Yemeni forces on September 14 launched drone attacks on two plants at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s oil industry, including the world’s biggest petroleum processing facility.

The attacks came in retaliation for the Saudi-led coalition’s continued aggression on the Arabian Peninsula country.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Spokesman for Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement Mohammad Abdulsalam, who headed a delegation in the UN-brokered peace talks in Sweden, said a ceasefire was reached in the last day of the talks for the western port city of al-Hudaydah.

Abdulsalam said the warring parties agreed on Thursday to a ceasefire for the flashpoint city of Hudaydah and its surrounding governorate, the Arabic-language Al Mayadeen TV reported.

“We agreed that the United Nations should monitor the process of inspection of ships in the port of Hudaydah,” he added.

“We gave many concessions on Hudaydah to save the Yemeni people, and we retreated from our positions,” the senior Yemeni official noted.

The Ansarullah suggested that the passenger planes should go to Jordan and Egypt before departure for Sana’a, Abdulsalam went on to say.

The Yemeni peace talks opened in the Swedish capital of Stockholm on December 7 on an upbeat note, with the warring sides agreeing to a broad prisoner swap, boosting hopes that the talks would not deteriorate into further violence as in the past.

Some 8.4 million Yemenis are facing starvation as a result of the Saudi-led aggression, although the United Nations has warned that will probably rise to 14 million.

Three-quarters of impoverished Yemen’s population, or 22 million people, require aid.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights announced in a statement on March 25 that the war had left 600,000 civilians dead and injured until then. The war and the accompanying blockade have also caused famine across Yemen.

Speaking to the Arabic-language al-Masirah TV on Tuesday night, Abdulsalam said the foreign troops’ presence in Yemen is contrary to the country’s constitution and UN Security Council resolutions.

“The presence of foreign forces in Yemen is not justified as long as our approach is political settlement (of the crisis),” he said.

Yemen’s occupied areas are now controlled by foreigners such as British, Saudi and Emirati forces, not a group that calls itself “legitimate”, he added, referring to the Yemeni exiled government which claims legitimacy.

The Ansarullah spokesman went on to say that no party could demand the presence of foreign forces in Yemen.

Abdulsalam further said that in the UN-brokered peace talks in Stockholm, Sweden, the two sides have reached some agreements on ceasefire in some areas.

The talks opened Thursday on an upbeat note, with the warring sides agreeing to a broad prisoner swap, boosting hopes that the talks would not deteriorate into further violence as in the past.

The Sweden initiative marks the first meeting between the two sides since the 2016 breakdown of talks to end the Saudi war, which has claimed more than 15,000 lives since 2015 when the aggression began.

It has triggered the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, with nearly 14 million Yemenis at risk of mass starvation as violence, poverty, disease and blockades bring the impoverished country to its knees.

The talks are not aimed at finding a solution to the Yemen conflict, according to the UN.

Instead, they are focusing on a few key areas, the humanitarian corridors, a prisoner swap, the reopening of the defunct Sana’a international airport and the fate of Hudaydah, the Red Sea city that has proved an impasse in the talks.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a UN source at the talks in the rural village of Rimbo said both Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement and forces loyal to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi had indicated they were willing to hold further talks in coming months, AFP reported.

“If we do not get the support of key states, then there will not be a solution,” said the UN source.

Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement and forces loyal to Hadi are meeting for a fifth day of talks in Sweden aimed at halting the Saudi-backed war on the impoverished Arab country.

The talks opened Thursday on an upbeat note, with the warring sides agreeing to a broad prisoner swap, boosting hopes that the talks would not deteriorate into further violence as in the past.

Some 8.4 million Yemenis are facing starvation as a result of the Saudi-led aggression, although the United Nations has warned that will probably rise to 14 million.

The United Nations called for the immediate removal of Saudi Arabia’s blockade on Yemen as talks to end the ongoing war against the impoverished country begin in Sweden.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on the Houthi Ansarullah movement and Yemen’s former Saudi-backed government to show flexibility and make room for progress.

“I welcome the opening of peace talks on the conflict in Yemen in Stockholm. I urge all those present at the talks to do everything in their power to end the war and the suffering,” he wrote in a tweet Thursday. “Yemenis can’t wait.”

A spokesman for Guterres said later on the secretary general was specifically appealing to both sides to continue the de-escalation in the port city of Hudaydah, which acts a lifeline for the entire country, Press TV reported.

The US Senate warned in a rare statement earlier this week that Yemen imports as much as 90 percent of its food and relies on imported fuel.

Saudis and their regional allies – including the United Arab Emirates (UAE)—launched their military aggression against Yemen in March 2015 with the declared goal of removing Houthis from power and reinstating fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally, to power.

As the prospects of defeating Houthis dimmed down the road and talks of a diplomatic solution gained traction, Saudi-backed groups launched an operation to seize control of Hudaydah in order to have the upper hand in the talks.

The ongoing offensive, however, has so far failed in the face of strong Houthi resistance.

Advising both sides against setting pre-conditions, Guterres said “intra-Yemeni dialogue” was necessary to resolve “the ongoing humanitarian crisis” caused by the war.

The war has so far killed thousands of civilians and destroyed the impoverished country’s infrastructure, exposing millions of people to starvation, lack of medicines and cholera outbreaks.

The UN chief said he doubted the talks would yield any results before year-end.
