“These ultrasound devices important for the evaluation of COVID-19 patients. They will be delivered to many hospitals across the country to be installed in intensive care units and other wards that are treating patients with COVID-19. They have been sponsored by the State of Kuwait and the Government of Japan, at a total value of about USD 3 million, and we are grateful for their support,” said Dr. Christoph Hamelmann, the WHO Representative in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Dr. Hooman Narimani, Deputy for Planning and Program, Board of Trustees for Patients Treatments with Currency Saving, said these 100 ultrasonography units, which have been provided by the World Health Organization to strengthen the country’s COVID-19 response, will be sent to facilities affiliated with universities of medical sciences throughout the country according to a distribution list provided by the ministry.

“These ultrasound devices will address important needs of our health facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic, and for that, we are especially grateful to WHO,” he added.

The Ministry of Health will soon start shipping the devices to hospitals across the country.

Recently, the WHO delivered 16 CT scan machines to Iran, which were distributed among hospitals in different provinces of the country where they were urgently needed.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base, a conglomerate belonging to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), plans to complete the unfinished hospital projects across Iran.

Speaking to reporters in the northern city of Rasht on Wednesday, Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base Saeid Mohammad said the base has devised plans to ease the shortage of hospital beds in Iran and IRGC is to complete the projects.

“The number of hospital beds in our country is much lower than the world average, and such a deficiency became clearer amid the coronavirus crisis,” the commander noted.

He added that the Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base has decided to undertake to complete the bulk of unfinished hospitals across the country.

The base has designed and embarked on many good projects in Iran, the commander said, adding that the conditions of Iranian hospitals in terms of the number of beds will greatly improve within the next two to three years.

In April, President of Iran Hassan Rouhani praised the country’s Armed Force for the great assistance they have been providing for the medical society in the fight against the novel coronavirus epidemic.

In March, the IRGC formed the Coronavirus Fight Base to coordinate efforts in the battle with COVID-19 and arrange cooperation with the Health Ministry.

The IRGC has provided many makeshift and stationary medical centers for the coronavirus patients.
