Pointing to recent attacks on two oil tankers in the Sea of Oman, he added, “the presence of foreign naval fleet has created instability in the Sea of Oman and in the region.” He said that Iran wants more probe into the case.

He also called on the parliaments of the two countries to pave the ground for enhancing economic ties.

For her part, Marielle de Sarnez said that France and Iran are enjoying strong academic, cultural and medical relations, also hoping for increased ties in different fields.

JCPOA is a comprehensive document which notes that if a country doesn’t fulfill its commitments, others can adopt countermeasures, Chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iranian Parliament Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh told Mehr News Agency on Wednesday.

“Surely we will continue our reciprocal policies in the framework of JCPOA and NPT,” he added.

The remarks came after the Supreme National Security Council ordered so stop implementation of some parts of commitments of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the JCPOA according to articles 26 and 36 of the agreement. According to the statement, Iran will no longer commit to the restrictions put on the storage of enriched uranium and heavy water under the agreement.

The remaining parties to the nuclear deal have been given 60 days to implement their commitments under the JCPOA, particularly those related to the banking and oil sectors. Failure to do so will prompt the Islamic Republic to stop complying with restrictions on the level of uranium enrichment and the modernization of Arak heavy water reactor, the statement says.

The Iranian MP also said that Iran will enter into ‘serious’ technical negotiations with International Atomic Energy Agency and remaining signatories of the Nuclear Deal to “produce our required [nuclear] fuel in different levels.”

He went on to highlight that pulling out of JCPOA and NPT is not on the agenda.

Falahatpisheh, who is in Moscow for tripartite talks on Syria, also called on members of the Iranian Parliament to avoid making comments such as those related to killing US troops, noting that the country’s policy is ‘defensive’ and such remarks are not on the agenda.

Trump administration announced Monday that it is designating Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as a foreign terrorist organization. In response to this unprecedented measure against the military force of another country, the Iranian Supreme National Security Council accused the US government of supporting terrorism and recognized the US Central Command (CENCTOM) as a terrorist organization.

After the unilateral withdrawal of US from Iran Nuclear Deal, officially known as JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), other signatories of the deal vowed to keep it alive. After months of delay, European signatories, i.e. Germany, UK, and France established a financial mechanism dubbed as INSTEX (Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges) to facilitate trade ties with Iran and ditch US sanctions; however, the channel is yet to prove its true effectiveness.

“Still, many European countries delay joining INSTEX,” Falahatpisheh told Mehr News Agency on Sunday, adding, “only Germany, France and UK are after implementing the mechanism.”

The senior MP said that he has recently discussed the issue with representatives of some European states.

“Our trade transactions with Europe should not be limited to just these three countries,” he highlighted, adding, “although, Germany, France and UK are Europe’s strongest states, we expect that all European Union member states, not just the European Troika, will join INSTEX.”

“Although INSTEX does not meet all our expectations, every step taken by European countries in this regard is a blow to US’ unilateralism,” he also added.

Chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iranian Parliament Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh said the Parliament will close the case on the bill on Iran’s accession to the convention against the funding of terrorism (CFT) by next week.

He added that the Expediency Council would give the final say on the CFT bill, as well as the UN Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime (known in Iran as Palermo) by next month.

He explained that the two FATF-related bills, namely the amendment bill on anti-money laundering and another amendment bill on combating terrorist financing, concerned amending domestic laws, which were passed recently.

Falahatpisheh added that the bill on Iran’s accession to the UN Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime will be put on the Expediency Council’s agenda soon.

The controversial CFT bill will be reviewed in the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee today to address and resolve the remaining flaws pointed out by the Guardian Council, he added.

The senior MP maintained that the fate of the two remaining bills will be decided by the Expediency Council by next month.

FATF has given Iran a February deadline to complete the necessary reforms regarding its removal from the task force’s blacklist.

Chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iranian Parliament Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh said returning the amendment bill on combating money laundering to the Parliament for removing the pointed out flaws seems to be off the table, therefore the bill, after taking every factor into consideration, will be referred to the Expediency Council for the final verdict.

Falahatpisheh added that the bill on Iran’s accession to the convention against the funding of terrorism (CFT), which was returned to the Expediency Council upon insistence from the Parliament and objection to the bill from the Guardian council, will be put on the Expediency Council’s agenda after the Council has reviewed the anti-money laundering bill.

On Dec. 5, lawmakers passed the amendment bill on Iran’s accession to the convention against the funding of terrorism (CFT), which was ratified in early October, as part of efforts to oblige the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to remove the country from its blacklist.

The Guardian Council rejected the bill on November 4, on the basis of having found a series of faults with it, which, according to its spokesman Abbasali Kadkhodaei, were either ambiguous or ran counter to the country’s Shari’ah and the Constitutional law.

7 out of the 22 flaws as pointed out by the Guardian Council were amended by the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, and the case was referred to the the Expediency Council for the final verdict.

FATF has given Iran a February deadline to complete the necessary reforms regarding its removal from the task force’s blacklist.
