Iran Army employs Cobra helicopters, Fajr-5 missiles in northeast drill

TEHRAN (Iran News) The military drill featured various units of the Army Ground Forces, including artillery, armored divisions, airborne units, drone squads, electronic warfare units, and missile groups, all participating to enhance their operational readiness and effectiveness in potential combat scenarios.

Brigadier General Karim Cheshak, deputy commander for Army’s Ground Forces for Operations, said on Tuesday that the exercise involved the use of Fajr-5 missiles and precision-guided artillery, supported by heavy fire from Cobra helicopters targeting simulated terrorist group locations.

Speaking to IRNA, General Cheshak said the primary objective of the war game was to enhance the combat readiness of the Army Ground Forces.

“This exercise prepares our forces for response and counter-operations against any aggressive action,” he said.

He further noted that the drill aimed to demonstrate Iran’s military edge and power in the face of psychological operations by the enemy while boosting national morale, unity, and cohesion.

The commander said that the exercise also sought to promote deterrence and disrupt enemy calculations. “We rehearsed pre-planned strategies using the latest weapons and equipment of the Army Ground Forces,” he added.

Brigadier General Nozar Nemati, deputy commander of the Ground Forces, said an “integrated system for countering all types of UAVs”, which had previously been in the testing phase, has now been operationally assessed during this exercise.

Iranian forces successfully destroyed hostile targets with Fajr-5 missiles, displaying their ability to deploy UAVs directly from their bases to target and eliminate simulated enemy fortifications and equipment.

In addition, Second Brigadier General Qassem Khamoushi, commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army Aviation (IRIAA), reported the successful completion of the 65th Airborne Special Forces Brigade’s first nighttime heliborne operation.

This operation used night vision equipment installed on the helicopters, he said.

Israeli Helicopters Strike Syria, Leaving Casualties

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Israeli military helicopters carried out airstrikes against a number of positions in the southwestern province of Quneitra in Syria, injuring two people, state media reported.

The official SANA news agency in Syria, citing an unnamed military source, reported that Israeli military helicopters hit “three sites” in the border areas of Quneitra with anti-tank guided missiles, Press TV reported.

It added that the aerial aggression, conducted “at 11 p.m. local time on Friday, lightly injured two people and sparked a fire in the wooded areas around the targeted positions.

Separately, the Israeli military confirmed the airstrikes in a statement, claiming that its choppers had hit several “observation positions and intelligence-gathering tools inside Syrian posts” in the Arab country’s southwest.

The Israeli military claimed that its airstrikes were in response to the purported firing of munitions from Syria against positions in the occupied Golan Heights earlier in the day.

Israel frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those of Hezbollah, which has played a key role in helping the Syrian Army in its fight against foreign-backed terrorists.

The Arab country has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. The Syrian government says Israel and its Western and regional allies are aiding Takfiri terrorist groups that are wreaking havoc in the country.

Israel mostly keeps quiet about the attacks on Syrian territories that many views as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s increasing success in confronting terrorism in the country.

The Tel Aviv regime has been the main supporter of terrorist groups that have opposed the government of President Bashar al-Assad since militancy erupted in Syria nine years ago.

The Syrian government forces have taken back many areas once controlled by the terrorist groups.

Iran armed forces helicopters extinguishes wildfire in southwestern

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran Armed Forces have dispatched helicopters to Khuzestan and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces to help extinguish a wildfire that is burning woodlands in the southwestern provinces.

Javad Mostafaei, the head of Crisis Management Department at the Defense Ministry, said on Sunday, “Based on a directive by the president, the Army and IRGC have sent helicopters to the two provinces to assist extinguishing the wildfires burning the southwestern woodlands.”

He noted that “seven helicopters were already called in to assist extinguish the wildfire in the past week and are currently on their mission.”

Iranian military forces play a leading role in the rescue and relief efforts during natural disasters in the country. The Army and the IRGC units have saved the lives of civilians in many incidents, such as floods and earthquakes.

Mostafaei said that based on a directive issued by the First Vice President in 2015, the provision of aerial firefighting services within the natural resources has been assigned to the Defense Ministry, adding, “Such cooperation has led to a considerable decline of the destruction of nature by wildfires ever since.”

Earlier on Friday, Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Forces Brigadier General Nozar Nemati said that the disaster response battalions from the Armored Brigade 392 of Army Ground Force had been deployed to the woodlands near Khasraj county in Khuzestan to put out the wildfire.

He also noted that the military helicopters at the Army Ground Force Airborne Division’s airbase in Masjed Soleyman had performed tens of sorties to assist in the operation to control the raging fire in the southwestern provinces of Khuzestan and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.

Wildfire broke out on Thursday evening in several protected areas in the provinces of Khuzestan, Bushehr, Lorestan, Kohgiluyeh, and Boyer-Ahmad, including Khaeez protected area. The stretch, measuring 28,000 hectares, is one of the main habitats for wild goats.

Being impassable has made any fire-fighting operation almost impossible and only helicopters could reach the area. Fierce winds, high latitude, high vegetation, and the lack of equipment and manpower have made firefighting operations much more difficult.
