]]> TEHRAN – Chairman of Tehran City Council Mohsen Hashemi said on Sunday that a seminar will be held on Tuesday to commemorate his father, the late Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

Hashemi said President Hassan Rouhani, Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri and Ayatollah Hassan Khomeini, grandson of Imam Khomeini, will speak at the event, Tasnim reported.

He also said that another event will be held on Thursday, which marks the anniversary of Rafsanjani’s demise. Ayatollah Javadi Amoli will speak at the event, he added.

]]> TEHRAN – Seyed Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of Imam Khomeini, has said that Iranians are united against any foreign threats that question national independence, Fars news agency reported on Thursday.

“We should be vigilant that the country’s political independence not be attacked under no pretext,” he said, adding independence was as one of the greatest achievements of the Islamic Revolution.

The remarks came after U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning against IRGC, which faced an angry backlash from Iranians.
