TEHRAN (Iran News) The Palestinian group issued a statement on Monday, the same day Israeli settlers set fire to the Abu Bakr as-Siddiq Mosque, located between the towns of Sarra and Tal, near Nablus in the northern West Bank. The settlers also spray-painted racist slogans on the mosque’s walls.

“The action carried out on Monday by Zionist settlers is a fascist and organized crime, and a blatant assault on places of worship and Islamic holy sites. This act constitutes a clear violation of all international laws and norms that guarantee the protection of religious and sacred sites,” Hamas said in the statement.

The movement called on the Palestinian people to take measures to protect mosques and other religious sites in the face of settler attacks and to counter these aggressive acts.

Hamas also urged the United Nations and all human rights organizations to condemn “this criminal fascist behavior,” prosecute its perpetrators, and hold Israeli officials accountable for encouraging such brutal crimes against the Palestinian people, as well as Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Hamas added that the move reflects the Israeli regime’s “determination to expand the scope of its aggression and destabilize the region’s security and stability.”

Rejecting Israeli claims about the reasons behind the strike, Hamas said the allegations are “flimsy pretexts,” noting that the targeted site belonged to the “Joint Security Force,” which is tasked with maintaining security and stability inside the camp.

It is necessary to “move urgently to halt these assaults, hold the occupation accountable for its crimes, and provide protection for our Palestinian people in all their place,” the statement said.

Media reports on Friday night said an Israeli missile strike on the Ain al-Helweh camp killed three people. Al-Mayadeen network reported that several missiles targeted the Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Qassem made the remarks on Monday, a day after reports that a Hamas delegation had traveled to Cairo, Egypt, for talks with ceasefire mediators. Egypt, the United States, and Qatar have been mediating between Hamas and Israel, and helped secure the ceasefire that took effect on October 10.

The spokesperson confirmed the delegation’s visit to Cairo, saying they discussed ongoing Israeli violations.

“Israel’s continued violations could undermine the ceasefire agreement, a point the movement made clear to the mediators in the Cairo talks,” he said in a press release carried by The Palestine Chronicle.

Qassem added that the presence of Hamas delegates in Cairo demonstrates the movement’s commitment to the ceasefire and readiness to move into the next, more complex phase of the agreement.

“The second phase of the agreement is complex, and we have fulfilled what was required of us, while Israel continues its violations and breaches,” he noted.

The ceasefire is the first phase of a plan proposed by US President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza and bring “permanent” peace to the territory.

Under the first phase, Hamas was required to release some 50 remaining Israeli captives—dead or alive—in exchange for Israel halting attacks and easing restrictions on aid deliveries into Gaza.

Hamas has so far released all 20 surviving captives and handed over the remains of 25 out of 28 others. It says the retrieval of additional bodies has been delayed due to a lack of equipment to sift through the rubble. Israel, however, says it will not begin negotiations on the second phase until it receives the remaining bodies. The second phase includes, among other measures, the deployment of an international stabilization force in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israel has continued its attacks on Gaza, killing at least 300 Palestinians in shelling and shootings across the territory, according to the Gaza Government Media Office.

Officials in Gaza also say, of the 600 aid trucks agreed to enter the territory each day, fewer than one-third have been allowed through.

Deadly remnants of war

The Gaza officials have also voiced strong criticism over unexploded ordnance and other remnants of war, which they say continue to take a heavy toll on the population.

According to the Gaza Civil Defense Team, one child was killed and several others wounded in Gaza City on Monday due to explosions caused by such remnants.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem called on relevant international institutions to cooperate in immediately clearing the war remnants.

In a statement reported by the Shehab news agency on Sunday, Hamas said the operation in eastern Qalqilya reflected “the determination of the Palestinian people to reject annexation and Judaization plans” and underscored that resistance would continue “as long as occupation persists.”

The group said the assault came amid daily settler attacks and Israeli military operations in the West Bank. “The crimes of the occupier and the policies of displacement and daily attacks by settlers under protection from the occupying army will inevitably fuel public anger and escalate resistance in all its forms,” the statement said.

Hamas also urged Palestinians to unite their ranks, coordinate efforts and “ignite the confrontation arena” against Israeli forces and settlers.

The statement followed an attack in which a soldier was rammed by a car near Ari’el, leaving him seriously wounded. Israeli forces opened fire on the vehicle involved, according to local reports.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Israeli cabinet spokesperson David Mencer told the BBC on Tuesday that the regime is not interested in “partial deals.”

“Things have changed now. The prime minister has laid out a plan for the future of Gaza,” Mencer said, referring to Benjamin Netanyahu’s plot to forcibly displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and occupy the territory, beginning with the takeover of Gaza City.

Hamas announced on Monday that it had approved the Gaza truce proposal put forward by Qatar and Egypt to end the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Gaza.

“Hamas, along with the Palestinian factions, relayed their acceptance of the proposal put forward yesterday by the Qatari and Egyptian mediators,” the group said in a brief statement.

The proposed deal comes after negotiations between Hamas, Egyptian, and Qatari officials in Cairo and is reported to be nearly identical to the one that was put forward by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and was accepted by Israel.

Over the past two years, Hamas has accepted proposals for a ceasefire and the release of Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners. But Israel has rejected them, pressing ahead with its military campaign in Gaza, which the regime is now expanding by moving to take over Gaza City.

The major sticking point has been the duration of the ceasefire. Hamas wants a permanent end to the war, but Israel seeks a temporary truce that would allow it to resume its military operations.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Abu Obaida, the spokesperson for Hamas’s armed wing Izz al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, has warned that more Israeli soldiers would die unless the regime halts its war on Gaza.

“Israelis have two options: Either they must urge their officials to stop the war or prepare for the return of more coffins of their troops,” Abu Obaida said, according to a report by Qatar’s Al Jazeera TV network late on Friday.

The warning came after an explosion in Khan Yunis city, in the southern Gaza Strip, killed four Israeli soldiers and wounded five others earlier on Friday. Israel confirmed the casualties caused after an explosive device went off in a building in east of Khan Yunis.

The Qassam Brigades’ spokesperson said that what happened in Khan Yunis is part of special operations by resistance fighters.

Meanwhile, a senior official of the Islamic Resistance Movement reacted to the Israeli losses in Khan Yunis as well, which according to Israeli media brought the total number of the regime’s military fatalities to 866 since the start of the war on October 7, 2023.

Sami Abu Zuhri said on Friday that the Khan Yunis operation was a natural response to continuous crimes committed by the occupiers in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Information Center.

The operation was an act of revenge for the Palestinians killed and those living in dire conditions, he added.

The Hamas official also criticized the international community for its “unjustifiable” silence to end the genocide in Gaza, and said that it is high time for the world to act swiftly to end the Israeli occupation and recognize the Palestinian people’s right to live with freedom and dignity.
