The occupied Golan is part and parcel of Syria and regaining it, until the line of June 4th, 1967, with all means guaranteed by the international law, is a priority to us, Bashar al-Jaafari said on Tuesday addressing a UN Security Council session.

Washington proclamation on occupied Jerusalem (al-Quds) and the occupied Syrian Golan was a unilateral act and issued by a party that has no political, nor legal capacity to dispose of parts of the Syrian Arab Republic and occupied Palestine, he added.

“Syria calls on UNSC to force the Israeli occupation to stop its practices in the Syrian Golan and looting its resources including oil,” al-Jaafari stressed, SANA reported.

He said that the Israeli occupation’s measures in occupied Palestine and occupied Syrian Golan gravely violate the international law.

On March 25, US President Donald Trump signed a decree that suited the Israeli interest regarding Golan. The signing took place at the start of a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington.

Trump’s move came over a year after he recognized Jerusalem al-Quds as the “capital” of Israel and moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied Palestinian city.

The United Nations has time and again stressed Syria’s sovereignty over the heights.

Back in December 2018, the majority of the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution urging the Israeli regime to withdraw from Golan.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The United Nations General Assembly reiterated its demand for the Israeli regime to comply with resolutions on the occupied Syrian Golan, particularly resolution no. 497 for 1981 which considers Israel’s decision to impose its law and legal jurisdiction and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan to be null, void, and without international legal effect.

The participants affirmed their commitment to the homeland and asserting that the Golan always was and always will be a Syrian land and that the declaration of US President Donald Trump on Golan has no value because he cannot grant what he does not possess.

The activity began in Sweida, going through several provinces before arriving at Tartous on Saturday evening, from which it will continue until it reaches its final destination: the UN HQ in Damascus, to which the participants will deliver a letter protesting Trump’s declaration on the occupied Syrian Golan.

On March 25, Trumped signed a proclamation, formally recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over Golan Heights.

Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in a statement, called the US decision a “blatant attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of Syria.

Israel seized the Golan Heights from Syria after the 1967 Six-Day War and later occupied it in a move that has never been recognized by the international community. The regime has built dozens of settlements in the area ever since and has used the region to carry out a number of military operations against the Syrian government.

According to SANA, the participants held banners, with some of which reading ”Golan Has a Syrian Identity, Syrian history, Syrian Geography and Syrian People.”

They also condemned the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria by the US and Western states, calling for lifting the unjust sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.

At the end of the demonstration, a group of expatriates which came from Allentown City in the US state of Pennsylvania visited the permanent delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic headed by Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, hailing the efforts he exerts for defending Syria at the UN.

They reiterated solidarity with the homeland Syria and its army and leadership, and their standing by it till restoring security and safety to every inch of its territories and achieving the final victory over terrorism.
