‘Iran has upper hand in 5 strategic layers of war with US’

Noting that the most significant layer is the economic one, he said “Americans claim that they are running the most modern economic war against Iran and are wielding the dollar into a weapon against us and other countries.”

Iran has the upper hand relying on the leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei, as well as the nation’s resistance and efforts of officials, he said.

Referring to Trump’s policy of maximum pressure on Iran, he said “no war was and is expected but the Americans sought to show that a war was imminent to make some in Iran falter in making decisions.”

Americans wanted to suggest to the Iranians that their lives relies on Iran’s stance towards the US, he added.

Addressing the issue of FATF, Jalali said that Iranian officials have not come into an agreement about joining the global watchdog yet. “FATF acts as a watchdog for the enemy in the economic war,” he said.

He, elsewhere, rejected the US claim about penetrating into Iranian infrastructure systems via carrying out cyberattacks. “This was just an American bluff,” Jalali said.

They used to underestimate Iran’s missile power but their surveillance drone was shot down by Iran in the Persian Gulf, he added.

Foreign social media, new den of MKO terrorists: cmdr.

Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali, the head of Iran’s Passive Defense Organization, said that fortunately, no MKO terrorist remains in Iraq “but now they are in Albania, following new plots and this time in the social media.”

Jalali made the remarks Monday in a ceremony held to commemorate martyrs of Mersad operation; an operation in which MKO suffered a heavy defeat by Iranian forces at the end of the 8-year-long imposed war on Iran.

“Many of the comments [on social media] which are full of hatred, offense, and mockery is posted by fake accounts of this group,” he highlighted.

“They are trying to negatively affect the public opinion in Iran and cause disappointment among Iranians and induce inefficiency of the Islamic Republic,” the commander added.

Leaked images showed that the US-backed Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) terror group have launched social media campaigns against the Islamic Republic. Iran’s Khorasan newspaper in early July, revealed for the first time part of the organization’s secretive social media influence campaign targeting Farsi, English and Arabic-speaking users on social media, PressTV reported.

Members are “briefed at the start of their workday and start their social media operations at noon. At the end of the day, feedback is reviewed and issues that have to be used to defame the Islamic Republic are examined for the next day,” read the paper.

The MKO is listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community. Its members fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq, where it enjoyed backing of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

The MKO has been banned in Iran and around the world for its role in numerous terrorist activities, especially in the early years after the Islamic Revolution in 1979, taking the lives of thousands of Iranians, along with foreign nationals.

Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist attacks since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, about 12,000 have fallen victim to MKO’s acts of terror.

Removing a decade-long ban on the MKO, the United States and its allies, however, have sought to use the group as a tool to pressure Iran over the past years.

US asked Iran for ‘limited air strike’ to save face after drone shootdown

“After the downing of its intruding drone, the United States told us through diplomatic intermediaries that it wanted to carry out a limited operation in unimportant and deserted region to save face and asked us to avoid giving them a response, but Iran said it would regard any operation as the initiation of a war,” Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali, the head of Iran’s Passive Defense, said on Sunday.

General Jalali rebuked the US’ hostile policies in the region, Washington’s warmongering rhetoric against the Islamic Republic has increased under President Donald Trump, asserting that, however, any move against the integrity of Iran will be responded firmly.

A US Global Hawk spy drone intruded into Iranian airspace in June, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps brought it down after the drone ignored Iran’s several warnings.

IRGC says there was another intruding US manned plane beside the Global Hawk but the force ‘refrained’ from targeting it.

After the incident, US President Donald Trump said that officials had been “cocked and loaded” to retaliate against Iran after he learned an Iranian missile system shot down a US military drone. However, the president claimed he decided to call off the mission after he learned 150 Iranians would die as a result of the strike.

In comments made a few hours after the incident, IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami said the shooting down of the US aircraft had a straightforward message that any foreign intrusion into Iran’s sovereign territories would draw a crushing response.

“The downing of the US drone had an explicit, decisive and clear message that defenders of the Islamic Iran’s borders will show decisive reactions to aggression against this territory by any alien,” he said.

“Borders are our red line, and any enemy violating these borders will not go back,” the commander underlined.

Tensions initially built up between US and Iran after President Trump withdrew Washington from the 2015 Nuclear Deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and imposed severe sanctions against Tehran. Trump administration insists that they are ready for talks with Iran but Tehran says it will resist in face of all pressures and that there will be no talks with a party which has already violated many international agreements.

Enemy aims to cause conflict btw. govts. by non-military threats: official

Underscoring the significance of passive defense, the Iranian Brigadier General noted that modern technologies are a good platform for non-military threats.

He had previously announced that conducting practices and maneuvers to promote the preparedness of the country to deal with the threats is a priority for his organization this year.

Europe’s solutions to help Iran cannot be trusted: official

Head of Iran’s Passive Defense Organization Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali said that Europe cannot be trusted, adding the European countries side with the US in pressuring Iran.

“Through announcing their efforts to preserve the JCPOA, Europeans both wanted to keep the nuclear deal alive and pave the way for the US sanctions, and today we see they are killing time,” Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali, head of Iran’s Passive Defense Organization said.

Jalali added that the European solutions cannot be trusted, calling on the Iranian officials to look for better alternative solutions.

The head of Iran’s Passive Defense Organization pointed out that the United States intended to topple the Iranian establishment immediately after its withdrawal from the nuclear deal along with putting the maximum economic pressures on the country, but then when they realized their goal was not achievable, they stepped back and said that they sought changing Iran’s behavior as the goal of the sanctions.

Referring to newly released strategic documents of the United States, he said “new strategic documents in the United States have revealed new issues that should be paid attention to seriously. They stress that they should have control over cyberspace, and this shows that there is the possibility of imposing cyber-related sanctions. They may want to disrupt sustainable services in our country.”

Jalali added “another issue that is likely being pursued by them is cutting off the Internet in some areas [in the country]. Furthermore, they may attack the country’s infrastructure, which requires our readiness to counter cyber attacks.”

“Disrupting critical infrastructure such as the national gas distribution network, and even our banking network can be one of the strategies of the enemies,” he went on to explain.

Furthermore, he said that Passive Defense Organization has given special programs to government sectors instructing them how to defend themselves against threats.

Possibility of bioterrorism attacks, ‘never rejected’: official

Head of Iran’s Passive Defense Organization Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali said that the possibility of bioterrorism attacks is never turned down.

There are many countries in the world that carry out targeted biological attacks within the framework of economic objectives, he said, adding, “possibility of terrorist attacks always exists at any condition.”

He made the above remark in an interview with IRNA on Sat. Dec. 22 and said, “at the current situation, there is the possibility of bioterrorism attacks, some of which have been orchestrated in Iran and other countries against commanders, leaders and officials including Yasser Arafat former Palestinian leader and Hugo Chavez of Venezuela.”

If a country takes action against another country, these kinds of threats and strategies are ‘hidden’, he observed.

In general, health of human, livestock, poultry, aquatic animals, agricultural produce, plants and drinking water are of six basic pillars of the biological defense, he said, adding, “in this regard, health of human, family, food security and healthy life are among the most important priorities.”

In response to a question whether enemies can threaten health condition of people through biological threats, he said, “biological threats are a fact, one part of which is natural while another part is related to the manmade factor.”

He pointed to the first priority of the passive defense and said, “saving human lives and maintaining human capital are of the first priority of the biological passive defense. Therefore, even if the biological factors are created unintentionally and threatens human life, it is considered as a type of threat from the passive defense perspective.”

Iran rejects news of Rouhani’s mobile phone being tapped

The Passive Defense Organization’s Public Relations Department in a statement dismissed as “false” recent remarks attributed to the head of the organization, according to which “President Hassan Rouhani’s mobile phone was tapped recently.”

“Recently, some media outlets have published remarks by Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali which were taken out of context with regard to the president’s mobile phone being tapped, which is strongly denied,” the statement read, Mehr reported on Tuesday.

It added that in the interview, General Jalali had warned that “unencrypted” phone calls made by the country’s officials while in other countries are vulnerable to being intercepted.

‘No serious military threat against Iran’

The commander of the Passive Defense Organization said on Sunday that no serious military threat against the Islamic Republic exists at the moment, Fars reported.

“As the Leader of the [Islamic] Revolution said, ‘the option of war is the final threat which has been thwarted by Iran’s defense power’,” said Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali during a press conference.

Jalali said a new wave of threats in non-military fields has been launched by the United States, first of which is the economic war.

He also said the first mission of the Passive Defense Organization is to watch out for threats, identify them and issue warnings in different fields.

The second mission of the organization is to decrease the vulnerability of the country’s infrastructure against national threats, he remarked.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jalali pointed to the upcoming U.S. sanctions against Tehran, which will go into force on November 4, saying Washington’s anti-Iran sanctions have failed and its new sanctions will fail as well.

“Americans said earlier this year that a hot summer was underway,” he said, adding that false information by the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK) terrorist group has led to the adoption of a wrong approach vis-a-vis Iran by the U.S.

He went on to say that the Islamic Republic is carrying out measures to strengthen its infrastructure against any type of threats.
