Ghalenoei Names Iran Squad for Qatar, N. Korea Matches

TEHRAN (Iran News) Team Melli is scheduled to meet Qatar at Lusail Stadium in Doha on June 5.

Iran will also host North Korea in Tehran on June 10.

Iran has already secured its place in the 2026 World Cup.

Iran Coach Ghalenoei Not Looking for Revenge against Qatar

TEHRAN (Iran News) Team Melli is scheduled to meet Qatar Tuesday night at the Rashid Stadium in Dubai in Group A.

The match was moved from its original venue in Mashhad due to security concerns.

“Football is for enjoyment, and our goal is to win a good game to make the fans happy. We are not looking for revenge, but we aim to win to bring joy to the people,” Ghalenoei said.

Ghalenoei also praised Qatar’s progress in football, recognizing the importance of the upcoming game for both teams. He said that a win against Qatar would be a significant step towards qualification.

“If we win this important game, we will have gone more than 50% of the way to promotion and this is what we are looking for,” he added.

Ghalenoei: Sepahan Will Qualify to ACL Knockout

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Sepahan football team coach Amir Ghalenoei is confident that his team will qualify for the AFC Champions League knockout stage despite suffering a 3-0 defeat to Al Sadd of Qatar.

A terrific second-half display helped the Qatari giant climb to top spot of Group D at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Tuesday.

“First of all, I would like to congratulate Al Sadd for this win. I think they deserved to win because played better,” Ghalenoei, Sepahan coach, said in the post-match news conference.

“We could have scored a goal before the half time and conceded a goal from the counter-attack at the beginning of the second half. We made some changes in the second half but it didn’t work,” he added.

Ghalenoei also criticized Asian Football Confederation for the competition schedule.

“It’s very difficult to play three consecutive away matches, but I am sure we can qualify for the next stage. We will forget the loss and prepare for the next match,” he concluded.
