TEHRAN (Iran News) During the Tuesday meeting, Director General for Western Europe Affairs at the Foreign Ministry Alireza Yousefi conveyed Tehran’s strong protest to Axel Dittmann over Berlin’s recent actions.

He strongly condemned what he described as anti-Iranian measures, particularly Germany’s hosting and supporting violent and terrorist elements and groups.

Yousefi stressed that such positions and actions are in clear contradiction with the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter and that they entail international responsibility for the German government.

For his part, Dittmann said that he would convey Iran’s strong objections and deep dissatisfaction to Berlin.

German chancellor admits Israel is doing West’s ‘dirty work’ in Iran

TEHRAN (Iran News) German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has admitted that the Israeli regime is doing the “dirty work” for Western powers by attacking Iran.

Merz was speaking in an interview with the ZDF, a German public-service television broadcaster, on the sidelines of the G7 meeting in Canada on Tuesday.

He described the Israeli regime’s acts of aggression against the Islamic Republic as “dirty work,” acknowledging the inhumane and illegal nature of the operation against Iran, according to the Deutsche Welle, a German state-funded television network.

Merz pointed to the West’s failure to contain Iran, claiming that the Israeli strikes could weaken the government structure in Iran. However, analysts view such claims as a result of the West’s incorrect analyses of Iran and the resistance of the Iranian people.

Germany, as one of the main supporters of the Israeli regime, showed full support for the occupying entity in a complaint lodged by South Africa at the International Court of Justice regarding genocide in Gaza.

Araghchi: Sharmahd was a German terrorist

TEHRAN (Iran News) The Iranian foreign minister made the remarks in an interview with German newspaper Der Spiegel.

Emphasizing the special relations between Germany and the Zionist regime, Araghchi said that 50,000 people were killed in Gaza by the Israeli regime and “we have not even seen the German government issue a condemnation notice”.

“Jamshid Sharmahd was the ringleader of a terrorist group. This is a fact that our friends in Germany ignore and do not like to point out,” Araghchi said.

“By his choice, Sharmahd is responsible for the explosion of a mosque in Shiraz, in which fourteen people were killed and more than 200 people were injured,” he added.

The Iranian foreign minister pointed out that Sharmahd’s confessions are related to before his arrest, not after the arrest! “When he was in America, in an interview with television channels, he had proudly mentioned this act and had said that he was at war with the Islamic Republic of Iran and was killing the people. Therefore, Sharmahd’s crime as a terrorist and murderer of 14 people is clear.”

Tehran Summons German Charge D’Affaires over Closure of Iranian Consulates

TEHRAN (Iran News) The director of the First Department for Western Europe at the Iranian Foreign Ministry called in the diplomat on Thursday to relay Tehran’s “strong protest” and condemn Berlin’s “destructive approach” towards the Iranian people, including those residing in Germany, Press TV reported.

It came hours after German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced that the Iranian consulates in the cities of Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich are to be closed over the execution of German-Iranian convicted terrorist Jamshid Sharmahd.

“The decision by the German government to stop the activities of the consulates of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Germany is an unjustified act,” the Iranian foreign ministry’s said in a press release.

The move, it added, “deliberately deprives Iranians of the benefit of consular facilities and services” while “causes unnecessary trouble for Iranians residing in Germany and violates their basic rights.”

On Monday, Iran’s Judiciary executed Sharmahd, the ringleader of a US-based terror group behind a series of deadly attacks against the Iranian nation.

Germany protested to Iran by recalling its ambassador to Tehran and summoning the Iranian charge d’affaires in Berlin.

Announcing the closures of the Iranian consulates, Baerbock said, “We repeatedly made it crystal clear to Tehran that the execution of a German national would have serious consequences.”

In its press release, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Baerbock’s “meddlesome” and “unprofessional” statement lacks decency and legal value, noting that Berlin’s “unconstructive and confrontational approach is a major miscalculation, and the German government will be responsible for its consequences.”

It also condemned the German government’s disrespect for international law, as well as any support for terrorism and the killing of innocent people.

This attack was launched by Yemen’s cruise missile against a Saudi Arabian airport, disrupted flights in the airport. It was the second time Yemen Army had used a cruise missile, the first after the group deployed one last year to hit a nuclear power station being constructed in the UAE. It was also the third missile attack at Saudi airports after Yemen Army announced its new strategy of attacking at airports. A coalition led by Saudi Arabia, supported by the U.S., UAE and some more countries, was formed in 2015 which laid a ground, sea and air blockade against Yemen.

During this period, Yemen with complete innocence and without having any defensive power by relying on its people’s maturation produced types of missiles to use them against the aggressions of the coalition forces.

Most of the fired missiles were Zilzall and Badir which are Yemeni-made ones. Firing of such missiles was increased last year comparing its preceding years and for this reason Yemenis called 2018 as “Year of Yemeni Missiles”.

Crimes of the allied U.S. and Zionist regime through cooperation of Saudis and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed have made all honorable freedom-seekers in the world react towards those crimes. Vice President of Germany’s parliament (Bundestag) Ms. Claudia Roth has been one of those who reacted to the crimes as she recently launched a harsh attack at the policies and performance of the UAE and especially Bin Zayed and all those who are behind attacks at Yemen.

Aljazeera TV network quoted Roth as saying,“ Bin Zayed as the commander of the UAE armed forces can have access to financial and military facilities which can be used unconditionally for supporting the despotic and anti-human rightist rulers in Egypt, Libya or Sudan.”

She urged German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to find a proper phrase and sentence with no ambiguity and tell the Abu Dhabi Ruler that Germany and Europe are waiting for a drastic political change in the UAE policy and for putting an end to the Yemen war immediately.

Roth further said that the UAE is a mobile power in the Yemen war and for this reason, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince has a hand in one of the worst tragic human catastrophes on the earth and he is responsible for it.

Roth remarks were made while Germany is one of the weapon supplying countries to the Saudis and UAE-led coalition forces, and Bin Zayed has recently had a two-day visit to Germany. During the visit, the Emirati crown prince met German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the meeting was the main reason that Roth sounded necessary warning to her country’s officials and told them how they would be involved in a horrible human catastrophe.

Anti-Yemen Arab coalition, led by Saudis, began operation against Yemen in March 2015, to suppress Yemen Revolution and to topple Ansarullah from the power in the country.

Germany along with Zionist regime, UK, France, the U.S. and some other Arab states have backed the coalition forces with military and arms support. According to reports, so far tens of thousands of people, mostly civilians, have been killed during the war which is still going on. Over four years of war in the country and constant attack at houses and lives of Yemeni people, Yemenis have become strong in terms of politics and military, and the aggressive regimes have fallen back.

Blood of oppressed Yemeni people during over four years of war has become by the Almighty source of honor for these people and as God in His culture of resistance has stipulated, truth has come and falsehood is bound to perish, and it has created an indescribable spirit among the oppressed Yemeni people. Although Al Saud and their allies commit such horrible unhuman crimes, it has created a strong stamina in Yemen which indicates signs of Re-Appearance and it will lead to the ultimate victory of Yemen.

German FM Pledges No Miracles on JCPOA

Maas said in Tehran Monday that the UK, France and Germany — the three European signatories of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) — planned to preserve the deal a year after the United States pulled out of it.

“The position of our three European countries is that we support the JCPOA and we want to continue our commitments but we can’t pull off miracles,” he said at a joint news conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

He noted that Berlin, London and Paris were working to deliver the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX), a payment channel they unveiled in January to protect trade with Iran from harsh US economic sanctions.

Maas said America’s departure prevented Iran from receiving the full benefits of the agreement but the European Union was doing its utmost to make it up to Tehran.

“Germany still supports the JCPOA and we believe Iran should be able to use its economic advantages,” he said.

“We want Iran’s trade and its economic growth to increase through INSTEX with Europe and it is Iran’s right to enjoy the JCPOA’s financial benefits.”

Zarif said he made it clear to Maas in the meeting that implementing the JCPOA was all he expected the Europeans to do.

Referring to calls on Iran by the West to sit down for direct talks with the U.S., Zarif said Washington’s approach to the nuclear deal was proof that there was no point in talks.

“First of all, we have this agreement that is the outcome of two years of compact negations and 12 years of diplomatic work,” he noted. “Have they implemented this one that now they expect talks on other issues?”

“They should first show us that negotiations with the US will have a benefit and then ask for talks,” he continued.

Zarif also rejected U.S. claims that it was destabilizing the region.

“Who is causing instability in this region? Did we give Saddam Hussain weapons? Did we back al-Qaeda? Did we imprison the Lebanese prime minister?

“Is it us who are bombing civilians in Yemen every day? Did we support Daesh and al-Nusra or were they American weapons that Saudi Arabia gave them?” he said.

Maas touched down in Tehran on Monday, 30 days into a two-month ultimatum Iran gave the Europeans to meet their end of the bargain and protect the deal in the face of immense U.S. pressure.

Meanwhile yesterday Maas wrapped up his visit to Tehran by meeting President Hassan Rouhani.

A clear signal for the German chancellor

It’s a difficult time for the Chancellor of Germany. She had to pass the power inside the Christian Democrat Party to her rival, Kramp-Karenbauer. In a conference, Karenbauer rejected claims that she was the “mini Merkel”.

“People consider me a ‘mini,’ a copy, a simple ‘more of the same,’ but I can tell you that I stand here as my own person, just as life has shaped me and of that I am proud,” she said.

Angela Merkel has announced that she will step down of power in 2021, but the polls conducted in Germany has intensively worried her. The results of these polls indicate that the total popularity of the two traditional German parties, the coalition of the Christian and Social Democrats, have fallen below 50%. This suggests the unpopularity of the coalition government among the German citizens. Merkel now has to run the weak coalition government until 2021!

Many analysts of Europe’s affairs believe that Merkel’s power is actually over. The Chancellor of Germany is no longer the symbol of power in the united Europe. She has lost the power of managing the power equations in her country. In other words, Merkel has become a “passive player” in Berlin, the European Union and the Eurozone.

This is while Merkel had previously said that she hoped her planned departure would end bitter fighting in her weak and fractious right-left coalition, confessing that “the picture the government is sending out is unacceptable”.

According to an Infratest dimap survey, the Alternative for Germany (AFD), the Green Party and Liberal Democrats are now increasing their relative popularity to challenge the two ruling parties (Christian Democrats and Social Democrats) and to end the domination of the two traditional German parties on the power equations in Berlin.

Undoubtedly, Merkel can’t be now regarded as a successful politician at the head of the political and administrative equations of Germany. At the beginning of the German coalition government, many analysts believed that the presence of Social-Democrats alongside the Christian Democrats was a big mistake.

The anti-EU and anti-immigration party of “Alternative for Germany” has become the main opposition party in the German parliament. On the other hand, as the current trend continues and the popularity of the two traditional German ruling parties drops in the polls, they will lose more votes in the upcoming German elections in 2021.

What is happening today in Germany is a big catastrophe for Merkel, the Christian Democrat and, subsequently, the Social-Democratic Party. It’s not possible to restore the political power of these two parties in the near future, that is, as long as they are working together in the coalition government of Germany. On the other hand, the political equations in Germany are so complex that none of the traditional German parties will be able to win the majority of seats in the parliament.

As a result, a large part of the German authorities’ time and energy will be consumed by forming a coalition government (which will be a weak one). This will undermine the position of Germany’s leadership in the United Europe. In this sophisticated game, the Alternative for Germany (which the other German parties are unwilling to join) have been struggling to broaden its political and social popularity.

This extremist party hopes that other right-wingers, including French national leader Marin Le Pen, will be able to win good results in the elections and other political platforms in their country, and that their victory will influence Germany.

Merkel is no longer the symbol of Christian Democrats’ power in Germany’s and Europe’s equations. Political history of the German Chancellor as the EU leader has come an end at a time when her substitute (in the event of a relative and fragile victory in the country’s next general elections), should devote her power to attempts for the formation of a coalition or minimal government in Berlin. Without a doubt, Angela Merkel never imagined that she would have to permanently withdraw from power in Europe by 2021, as an incapable chancellor.

German Rail Services Disrupted Due to Strike

Rail services in Germany were severely disrupted Monday due to a strike by rail workers over pay, operator Deutsche Bahn said.

Inter-regional services were cancelled throughout the country due to the four-hour strike which began at 5:00 am (0400 GMT), the railway company said in a statement.

A spokesman told AFP it affected high-speed trains (ICE) as well as the intercity services.

Deutsche Bahn said regional services were also affected. In the south state of Bavaria, all rail traffic was suspended, it said.

Pay negotiations between Deutsche Bahn and the EVG rail workers’ union, demanding a 7.5-percent salary rise for 160,000 employees, ended without agreement on Saturday.

“The employer made offers which did not correspond to the demands of our members,” said EVG negotiator Regina Rusch-Ziemba.

But the railway operator in a statement had described the strike as “completely futile” saying its offer was “attractive and met the main demands” of employees.

German news agency DPA said Deutsche Bahn invited the union to new talks on Monday afternoon.

German, French, British FMs issue statement on Khashoggi’s disappearance

The Foreign Ministers of Germany, France and Great Britain have issued a joint statement on disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi.

The following is the full text of the three European countries’ foreign ministers’ statement on the disappearance of Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi:

“Defending freedom of expression and a free press and ensuring the protection of journalists are key priorities for Germany, the United Kingdom and France. In this spirit, light must be shed on the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, whose family has lost contact with him since October 2nd. Germany, the United Kingdom and France share the grave concern expressed by others including HRVP Mogherini, and UNSG Guterres and are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness. There needs to be a credible investigation to establish the truth about what happened, and – if relevant – to identify those bearing responsibility for the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi, and ensure that they are held to account. We encourage joint Saudi-Turkish efforts in that regard, and expect the Saudi Government to provide a complete and detailed response. We have conveyed this message directly to the Saudi authorities.”

Turkish, Russian, German, French leaders to meet in Istanbul – Erdogan

The leaders of Turkey, Russia, Germany and France will meet in Istanbul on September 7, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters Sunday.

“On September 7, we will host the summit of Turkey, Russia, Germany and France in Istanbul, we will discuss what we can do. We will discuss the issues of the region at this meeting of the four,” Erdogan said, as quoted in Vatan newspaper, in response to a question about Syria.

The four leaders will also discuss the agenda of the trilateral summit of Turkey, Russia and Iran on Syria.

Earlier this year, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the conflict in Syria had escalated to an enormous scale and cannot be settled without the participation of Russia, Turkey, Iran, Europe and other regional powers.
