TEHRAN (Iran News) Palestinian news outlets have reported that the Israeli occupation regime has conducted airstrikes across Gaza, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.

Over 30 people were martyred in an attack on the “al-Baqa” beach resort in Gaza, most of whom were women and children, with many others wounded, according to Palestine’s Shehab news agency on Monday.

In a separate strike, Israeli warplanes targeted a mobile charging station near Abu Asi checkpoint on Al-Wehda Street in central Gaza, killing at least three and injuring several. Eyewitnesses reported horrific scenes of bodies and wounded civilians who had sought to charge their devices amid Gaza’s blackout.

Another attack near Halawa intersection in Jabalia, northern Gaza, caused further casualties, though the exact toll remains unclear.

Meanwhile, Al-Shifa Medical Complex reported receiving 39 martyrs and over 100 wounded in just one hour, warning of a critical shortage of medical supplies.

These attacks escalate amid Gaza’s catastrophic humanitarian crisis, with Israel systematically targeting civilian infrastructure, including power and essential services. The Israeli regime’s ongoing aggression highlights its brutal policies against the oppressed Palestinian people.” Gaza Strip”

At least 56,500 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 133,419 individuals injured in the brutal Israeli onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the besieged coastal territory.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – A prominent rights group has released the findings of its investigation into a “deliberate” Israeli attack on a warehouse storing agricultural and pharmaceutical products amounting to the “indirect deploying of chemical weapons.”

The revelations by Palestinian human rights group Al-Haq follows its extensive 18-month-long probe on the Israeli strike, which the NGO says has left local residents struggling with health problems.

On the evening of 15 May 2021, which coincided with the 73rd anniversary of the al-Nakba, the Israeli occupation forces bombed the Khudair Pharmaceuticals and Agricultural Tools Company in Beit Lahiya, the largest agricultural chemical warehouse in Gaza.

The regime forces is said to have fired artillery shells at the warehouse in the north of the besieged coastal enclave, setting hundreds of tons of pesticides, fertilizers, plastics, and nylons on fire.

The Khudair Warehouse stores around 50 percent of all vital agricultural chemicals used in the besieged strip.

The targeted attack caused a toxic cloud that engulfed an area of 5.7 square kilometers and leaving locals struggling with health issues that include reports of miscarriages as well as indications of environmental damage.

The lengthy report by the respected organization internationally and the leading NGO providing evidence to the International Criminal Court in The Hague investigating Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity analyzed both the attack and its impact,

The large-scale investigation involved analysis from munitions and fluid dynamics experts, using 3D modeling of the warehouse to determine the circumstances of the attack. Al-Haq also analyzed mobile phone and drone footage and CCTV plus dozens of interviews with residents.

Legal experts have concluded from Al-Haq’s findings that while conventional weapons were used in the bombing, “the shelling of the warehouse, with knowledge of the presence of toxic chemicals stored therein, is tantamount to chemical weapons through indirect means. Such acts are clearly prohibited… and prosecutable under the Rome Statute of the international criminal court”.

Chris Cobb-Smith, a munitions expert, has been quoted as saying by the NGO “there is no military justification for [advanced smoke projectiles] to be used here. It is inherently inaccurate and unsuitable for use in an urban environment.”

It is also the first publication by Al-Haq’s recently established forensic architecture investigation unit, a first-of-its-kind collaboration in West Asia with Forensic Architecture, the research agency based at Goldsmiths, University of London, which carries out analysis for international human rights cases.

Al-Haq and Forensic Architecture worked closely together to create a newly established Forensic Architecture Investigation Unit for the NGO’s investigation.

This investigation marks the launch of Al-Haq’s

In 2019, the international criminal court (ICC) opened an investigation into possible war crimes committed by Israeli forces in the occupied Palestinian territories.

During the eleven-day war last May, Israeli forces killed 256 people in the besieged Gaza Strip while retaliatory attacks by the Palestinian resistance left 14 Israeli settlers dead.

Al-Haq said the strike on the Khudair warehouse was the first in a series of attacks “deliberately targeting Gaza’s economic and industrial infrastructure. About half a dozen other factories and warehouses had also been systematically bombed.”

Eight weeks after the attack on the agrochemical warehouse, Esra Khudair who lives with her husband and two children 40 meters away from the site suffered a miscarriage in the fifth month of her pregnancy.

Her husband, Ihab, says “for months the smell was unbearable, like a car engine mixed with burnt oil, sewage, and cooking gas, so of course, we knew it could be harmful,”

“I have had skin rashes since and so have most people here. We washed the house five times, and the furniture, but the smell stayed. It was like an oil on the walls… eventually in the winter the rain washed a lot of it away from the rubble of the warehouse.” he said.

Ihab adds “we are worried for our health now. One of my cousins, who is only 19, and my aunt also, got cancer recently and we think it is related to what happened here.”

Al-Haq says the warehouse is composed of six rooms totaling 2,700 square meters and is surrounded by Palestinian homes and agricultural fields.

The precise circumstances of the strike were initially unknown as none of the CCTV videos the NGO sourced contained an accurate timestamp.

Seeking time indicators, the rights groups conducted shadow analysis to determine the approximate time of the attack.

It then synchronized the videos to determine the timing of events and established the time of the first canister to hit the site at around 5:46 pm, likely from the south-east.

The group says this was followed by a second canister three seconds later, and at 5:48 pm, four other canisters followed.

It identified three of these canisters in the interior of the warehouse landing inside Room 1 and Room 4. By 5:56 pm, a plastic stockpile opposite to the south entrance caught fire, and a minute later another fire started inside Room 4.

Photos of munition collected from the site by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights show the remains of cylindrical canisters, around 15cm in width.

Al-Haq says the dimensions and the smoke tail match the M150 Smoke HC 155mm ammunition developed by the Israeli regime’s weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems: an ‘advanced smoke projectile’ and a new type of shell designed to splinter into five separate canisters, all of which emit high-density smoke.

Cobb-Smith explained that M150 artillery is designed to create smoke screens to mask troop movement. However, on May 15 there were no reported occupation forces on the ground in Beit Lahiya. Cobb-Smith added that “there is no military justification for the M150 to be used here.”

In total, the fire affected over fifty tons of hazardous chemicals stored on the site.

Fluid dynamics expert Dr. Salvador Navarro-Martinez measured the concentration and spread of the hazardous chemicals stored in the warehouse for Al-Haq. He explained that the air concentration of some of the chemicals crossed Acute Emergency Levels or AEGL.

Areas hundreds of meters away from the warehouse had sulfur dioxide and phosphorus pentoxide concentrations of above AEGL-2, indicating a high risk of ‘irreversible damage to human health.

Navarro-Martinez further stated that:
“When exposed to several chemical substances at the same time, as with the fire at this Warehouse, toxic emissions have the potential to amplify each other’s impacts.”

In the face of an all-out blockade since 2007, the Gaza Strip’s water, sewage, and electricity infrastructure have all but collapsed, leaving at least two million residents struggling to deal with increasing levels of air, soil, and water pollution in what the international community describes as the world’s largest open-air prison.

Al-Haq, which operates in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, has also come under attack from the regime. Last year, the NGO was one of six leading civil society and human rights organizations working in the occupied Palestinian territories which Israel designated as a terrorist organization.

The decision has been widely condemned by the United Nations, western governments, and prominent international organizations such as Amnesty International.

In a statement, Rula Shadeed, the head of Al-Haq’s monitoring and documentation department, said “without our professional documentation based on legal standards [Palestinians] cannot call for accountability and justice. Introducing new methodologies to enhance and complement the standard documentation and presentation of our work is very crucial.”

“We are very proud that despite the illegal attacks and difficult times Palestinian civil society is facing, we still manage to continue and advance in our work, due to our strong belief in the importance of exposing the violations against our people and to hold perpetrators accountable,” Shadeed added.

Despite the regime’s pressure tactics, Al-Haq says it will continue monitoring and documenting Israeli war crimes and apartheid.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Israeli warplanes have launched fresh overnight airstrikes across the besieged Gaza Strip for the second day in a row. The regime claims it bombed the enclave in response to incendiary balloons allegedly launched from the strip that made their way to Israeli settlements.

There were no casualties in the raids across the Gaza Strip including Gaza City, Khan Younes in the south, and Jabalia in the north. However, the airstrikes did cause material damage in addition to the mental trauma of civilians heading to bed at night to sound of bombs being dropped from warplanes.

A source with the Palestinian resistance says Hamas had fired on the Israeli warplanes.

The movement has also warned that a large-scale conflict with Israel is still “on the table”.

The latest escalation of tension follows weekend clashes between protesters and Israeli troops along the so-called buffer zone in which dozens of Palestinians were injured.

Israel frequently responds to incendiary balloon launches with airstrikes, including after such devices were used on August 6. Despite causing little to zero harm; the launching of the balloons has been met with bombing raids.

They are a common tactic used by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which has been under a strict Israeli blockade since 2007.

In a statement, the regime claimed it was working to contain some fires in the Eshkol settlement, which it blamed on incendiary balloons launched from Gaza.

Analysts say Israel is bombing Gaza after its humiliating defeat exactly three months ago when Hamas shocked the regime with an unprecedented barrage of rockets and missiles.

Over 11 days in May, Israel pounded Gaza with airstrikes in response to rockets fired from the enclave.

Israeli strikes killed 260 Palestinians, many of them women and children, while missiles fired by resistance forces in the besieged territory left 13 Israeli settlers dead.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – How Netanyahu botched the normalization hype. The Israeli regime sought to use the normalization deals with some Arab states to project a different image of itself to the Arab world but the recent carnage against Gaza once again brought it into disrepute.

The Egyptian-brokered ceasefire between the Gaza Strip and the Israeli regime held into Saturday as mediators continued consultations with the Israeli and Palestinian sides to make sure that the war would not break out again.

Having failed to achieve its goals, Israel unilaterally announced a ceasefire with Gaza on Friday midnight after 12 days of heavy bombardment against Gaza. The Palestinians from all walks of life celebrated their victory while Israel and its newfound allies in the region remained silent. This silence is telling. Israel lost more than it achieved. Resistance groups in Gaza are still around and they became even more confident due to their shrewd management of the fighting with an enemy enjoying overwhelming military support from a number of Western governments.

Israel’s loss is not limited to damaged buildings and cars; its global standing also was severely damaged as hundreds of thousands of people around the world took to the streets to denounce Israel’s brute violence against civilians in Gaza. Furthermore, Israel’s much-vaunted myth of co-existence between Jews and the so-called Israeli Arabs was shattered when the Israeli police resorted to the use of lethal force to quash Arab protests inside Israel, prompting some of them to push back against the police. There were also clashes between Arabs and Jews in several mixed cities.

Observers say the last round of violence between Arabs and Jews in Israel has left them afraid of each other, with some of them refraining from leaving their homes even for medical treatment out of fear that they would be targeted by the other. Individuals from both sides began to apply for weapons licenses, and everyone exchanged accusations, amidst extremely tense situations.

The Israeli Ministry of Interior revealed that the number of Jewish gun license applicants doubled seven times over the past week, from 270 requests to 1926, noting that there are about 145,000 Jews who possess licensed weapons at present.

An Israeli security official has said the hike in demand for the weapon is dire, but it is based on an understandable logic, signaling that fear has prevailed over Israeli society. As a result of this tense atmosphere, fear and anxiety spread widely on both sides. Many Arab workers complained of receiving dismissal orders, and Arab university students refused to go to their universities, according to Asharq Al Awsat. Several hospital administrations revealed that Arab doctors and nurses were absent from work, and they explicitly said that they feared attacks, the newspaper said, adding that Arab students at a Beersheba university complained that right-wing activists attacked them for participating in a demonstration.

Before the 12-day Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, there was a belief among some Israeli Arabs that without co-existence between Arabs and Jews inside Israel it is impossible to achieve peace between Israel and the Arab world because if Israel was to suppress its own Arab “citizens” it would fail to make the case that it can live in peace with Arab states.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sought to downplay this belief, believing that peace is possible with the Arab world while trampling on the rights of Palestinians. From this perspective, Netanyahu pressed ahead with his normalization deals with a number of Arab states such as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.

Last year in August, then U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he brokered a “historic deal” between the UAE and Israel to normalize their relations, the first such deal between Israel and an Arab country since 1994. The last time an Arab country signed a deal with Israel to normalize relations was on October 26, 1994, when Jordan signed a peace treaty with Israel. Following in the footsteps of the UAE, Bahrain and Sudan also normalized relations with Israel.

These countries enumerated a variety of reasons to justify their controversial decision to normalize ties with Israel and mitigating Israeli aggression against the Palestinians was the prime one. For example, the Emiratis said their normalization with Israel would encourage Tel Aviv it to treat Palestinians well and make it more receptive to internationally recognized solutions to the decades-long Palestine-Israel conflict.

To back their arguments, the Emiratis largely pointed to the Israeli decision to suspend plans to annex large swaths of the West Bank in exchange for normalization with the UAE.

But the Israeli aggression showed that the Emirati reasoning was flawed. Israel can never be expected to behave normally or to respect the rights of the Palestinians without pressure. Netanyahu showed that the hype surrounding the normalization deals with Arab states was a ploy to hoodwink more Arab countries into accepting normalization without first addressing the Palestinian issue. But as the Israeli warplanes pummeled Gaza with rockets and missiles, this ploy went up in smoke. Now, the Arab world understands that Israel only understands the language of power and that it will never be willing to make peace with the Palestinians through diplomatic compliments.

Thousands of people in New York, London, Karachi and other cities across the world gathered to protest against Israeli attacks on Gaza and the regime’s use of force against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

Protesters in big cities and on social media alike carried banners and used hashtags such as “Free Palestine” and “Gaza under Attack” to condemn Israeli atrocities.

UN Middle East peace envoy Tor Wennesland warned of a “full-scale war,” urging both sides to work for de-escalation.

“Stop the fire immediately. We’re escalating towards a full-scale war,” Wennesland tweeted on Wednesday morning.

“The cost of war in Gaza is devastating & is being paid by ordinary people. UN is working w/ all sides to restore calm. Stop the violence now,” Wennesland added.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the Israeli regime’s attacks against Palestinians and renewed its pledge to support the Palestinian people.

In a statement carried by Al-Quds Al-Arabi, the OIC said it strongly denounced Israel’s continuation of its “colonialist plans” via forced expulsions of Palestinians from their homes to build new illegal Israeli settlements.

The Arab Parliament is also slated to hold an emergency meeting hosted by the UAE on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Jerusalem al-Quds and the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Representatives of Arab parliaments will give speeches during the virtual meeting.

Seyyed Hashem Safieddine, head of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah’s Executive Council, hailed the “spirit of resistance” witnessed in Palestine amid the ongoing struggle in al-Quds, the West Bank and other areas of the occupied territories.

Speaking with Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television channel, Safieddine also commended efforts made by Iran’s martyred commander Qassem Soleimani, saying the strength shown by Palestinians against Israel’s criminal activities is partly the outcome of measures taken by Iran’s IRGC Quds Force under the command of General Soleimani.

He stressed that the power of resistance in Palestine, as shown by the storm of rockets raining on the Israeli regime, is far greater than the enemy assumed.

Iran slams US for shielding Israel

Top officials in Iran have also strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s continuous acts of aggression, while also hinting at the regime’s desperation in the face of Palestinian people’s resistance.

Iranian Ambassador to the UN Majid Takht Ravanchi said the “racist nature” of the Apartheid regime amounts to continued injustice.

He railed against the United States for shielding Israel at the UN and urging the UN Security Council to not remain indifferent to the atrocities.

“Continuous attacks on Palestine by Israeli regime have resulted in death & injury of many innocent Palestinians,” Takht Ravanchi said in a tweet early on Wednesday.

Iran’s chief security official, Ali Shamkhani, likened Israel’s so-called Iron Dome to a spider’s web that collapsed as soon as the Palestinian resistance groups fired their rockets at the regime.

“The spider’s web that the Zionists claimed was made of iron collapsed with Palestinian rockets,” Shamkhani tweeted. “The revolutionary youth of Palestine expanded the battlefield to the heart of the occupied territories by shifting the security equations.”

US sustains support for Israeli crimes

As the world awakens to the Israeli regime’s acts of savagery, Washington has sustained its full support for Israel, condemning Palestinians defending their land in an asymmetrical war waged by the regime in Tel Aviv.

In a tweet on Wednesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken referred to the exchange of fire, saying he spoke with his Israeli counterpart, Gabi Ashkenazi, about the “ongoing situation in Israel including rocket fire emanating from the Gaza Strip.”

Blinken, however, failed to condemn the Israeli bombardments targeting civilians in Gaza.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price underlined Israel’s “right to defend itself” and called on Israelis and Palestinians to exercise restraint in order to reach a state of calm.

“Israel has the right to defend itself and to respond to rocket attacks,” Price said at the beginning of a press briefing on Tuesday.

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan conveyed US President Joe Biden’s “unwavering support for Israel’s security and for its legitimate right to defend itself and its people, while protecting civilians”, during a conversation with his Israeli counterpart Meir Ben-Shabbat.

As expected, White House press secretary Jen Psaki also condemned the “ongoing rocket attacks by Hamas and other terrorist groups” and called for de-escalation.

Meanwhile, US congresswomen Rashida Talib and Ilhan Omar – among others – have voiced their concern over Israel’s use of force against Palestinians and the regime’s heavy bombardment of Gaza.

“I see some who were silent as Palestinians were ripped from their homes and tear gassed in their holiest mosques now finding their voices – to stand with the Israeli gov as airstrikes leave Palestinian children dead. Where are your voices when Palestinians are under threat?” Talib wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Hamas warns Israel of ‘no calm’ if regime’s hostile measures continue . The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has warned the Israeli regime that if it continues its hostile measures against the occupied Jerusalem al-Quds, it will see no calm.

“If the Zionist enemy continues this hostile policy against al-Quds, there will be no calm,” head of the political bureau of Hamas Ismail Haniyeh said in a virtual meeting on Sunday, according to Hamas’s official website.

On Thursday, more than 100 Palestinians were wounded and 50 more arrested in Israeli police and settler violence in Jerusalem al-Quds. Haniyeh’s remarks came as Israeli forces continued their aggressive actions against Palestinians on Sunday.

Haniyeh said the ongoing Palestinian response to the Israeli aggression in Jerusalem al-Quds comes “in the context of the battle over the identity of the holy city.”

The Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank should stand steadfast in the face of the Israeli occupation forces, he said, adding the current situation in Jerusalem al-Quds proved that Israel has failed to achieve any of its plans regarding the historic city.

On the upcoming Palestinian elections, Haniyeh said Hamas will never pass on the opportunity, stressing the necessity of holding the elections in Jerusalem al-Quds, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

“The Palestinian election in al-Quds has started very early,” he said, referring to the Palestinians who took to the streets to defend the city against the Israeli aggression.

Hamas leader: Palestinians to foil all Israeli plots

Khaled Meshaal, a former head of the political bureau of Hamas, said the Palestinian people in Jerusalem al-Quds will foil all Israeli plots in the city, as they have done on many occasions in the past few years.

In an interview with al-Aqsa TV channel on Sunday, Meshaal said Palestinians are going through a fierce battle against the Israeli occupation forces.

“It is a big battle aimed at Judaizing and controlling al-Quds and a plan to divide al-Aqsa Mosque spatially and timely,” he said, hailing the Palestinian defenders of the holy mosque for standing steadfast in the face of the Israeli occupation forces.

Meshaal reiterated Hamas’s support for the Palestinian elections, saying the polls are part of national endeavors to achieve unity.

He also dismissed the possibility of postponing the elections, saying Palestinian factions will remove all obstacles so that the vote will be held on its due date.

The remarks came as Palestinian sources reported that clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians had continued near al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday night and into Monday morning, after reports emerged that Israeli forces had briefly removed the barriers outside the Damascus Gate.

According to al-Quds al-Arabi, at least three Palestinians were arrested and a few others were injured in the course of the Israeli attacks.

Israeli army on high alert

Israel’s minister of military affairs Benny Gantz on Sunday ordered all branches of the Israeli security establishment to maintain readiness for further escalation in Gaza.

The Israeli military has been bombarding the besieged Gaza Strip in recent days, claiming the attacks are conducted as a response to rocket attacks by Palestinians in the enclave.

According to Israeli news site Walla, Gantz told the regime’s army chief of staff Aviv Kochavi and his subordinates, as well as the head of the Shin Bet and other security officials, that Israel must make preparations to face further escalation.

Gantz threatened on Saturday that if calm in the south does not continue, “Gaza will be severely damaged … and the leaders of Hamas will bear the responsibility.”

In a Sunday statement, Hamas called on all Palestinians to remain united and continue their resistance against the Tel Aviv regime.

Hamas urged all resistance groups in the besieged Gaza Strip to “keep their fingers on triggers and prepare their missiles” to target the enemy’s strongholds as well as its military installations.

Meanwhile, Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee tweeted early Monday that the regime had imposed fishing restrictions on Palestinians in Gaza in response to what he described as the “continued firing of rockets from the Gaza Strip toward Israel.”

Hours later, Adraee wrote in another tweet that the regime had completely closed down the legal fishing area for Palestinians in response to the rockets.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Israeli warplanes have carried out a series of airstrikes against targets across the Gaza Strip as the Tel Aviv regime continues with its acts of aggression against the besieged Palestinian enclave.

The Israeli army said in a statement that the Friday night strikes were carried out against targets belonging to the Hamas resistance movement, a few hours after Tel Aviv claimed that a rocket had been launched from the enclave at southern Israel.

The projectile set off rocket sirens in Sderot, Ibim and Nir Am in southern Israel.

The statement added that Israeli fighter jets and aircraft attacked a number of targets in the Gaza Strip.

Arabic-language Palestinian Wafa news agency, citing local sources, reported that at least two civilians sustained injuries as the Israeli warplanes struck a number of sites and agricultural lands in different areas of the Gaza Strip, and caused damage to houses and private properties.

The sources said the Israeli F-16 jets fired three missiles at a site west of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, which destroyed the building and set fire to it. Two people sustained injuries as a result.

Another site and agricultural lands in regions between Rafah and Khan Yunis city were struck as well.

The Israeli warplanes also bombed a site east of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, destroying it and damaging homes and properties of neighboring citizens.

The military aircraft also bombed a site southwest of Gaza City with at least two missiles, causing damage to the homes of local citizens.

The Friday night’s attacks against the Gaza Strip came just a day after the Israeli military bombed the Palestinian enclave.

The Israeli regime every so often launches strikes against the blockaded enclave, accusing the resistance groups there of launching rockets.

Gaza has been under an Israeli land, air and sea blockade since June 2007. The crippling siege has caused a decline in the standard of living as well as unprecedented levels of unemployment and unrelenting poverty in the Gaza Strip.

Since 2008, Israel has waged three wars against Gaza, where two million Palestinians live under a 12-year Israeli blockade. Thousands of Gazans have been killed in each of these deadly wars.

In a statement released on Monday, the office of Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, announced the ceasefire, under which the Tel Aviv regime would stop airstrikes and the resistance group would halt launching of incendiary balloons.

After talks with Qatari envoy Mohammed al-Emadi, “an understanding was reached to rein in the latest escalation and end (Israeli) aggression against our people,” it said, Al Jazeera reported.

The understanding, it added, would ease the way for implementation of projects “that will serve the people of Gaza, and alleviate the suffering amid the coronavirus wave.”

Shortly after Hamas’ statement, Israel’s liaison agency to the Palestinian territories said it would reopen the Gaza crossing, including to fuel deliveries, as well as the fishing zone to the full 15-nautical-mile limit.

The Israeli army has carried out attacks on Gaza almost daily since August 6, along with tightening a blockade under which it has banned the entry of fuel for Gaza’s sole power plant, plunging the Palestinian territory into darkness.

Monday’s attacks reportedly targeted “a Hamas tunnel and some military points”, the Israeli army said in a statement, Al Jazeera reported.

According to Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli warplanes targeted an area east of the town of al-Qarara, in the southern city of Khan Younis, with at least three missiles, leaving behind a deep crater.

Moreover, Israeli artillery struck a site east of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, which led to its destruction and catching fire.

The Gaza Strip has a population of two million people, more than half of whom live in poverty, according to the World Bank. The Palestinian territory has been under a devastating Israeli blockade since 2007.

In a statement on Sunday, the Power Authority said the plant “will completely stop as its fuel is expected to run out”, the Middle East Monitor reported.

It added that the Israeli regime “stopped fuel supplies for the electricity plant entering on Wednesday.”

Palestinians living in Gaza suffer regular blackouts as a result of the fuel shortages with electricity being provided for less than 12 hours a day.

Last year, Qatar started to pay for fuel needed to run the electricity plant but Israel no longer allowed it entry as part of punishing measures being imposed on Gaza, including stopping access to Gaza’s waters and a ban on the entry of several materials including cement.
