Gabriel Calderon Leaves Perspolis?

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Gabriel Calderon, the coach of Perspolis football team has said he is disappointed with the club’s behavior, fueling speculation that he is set to leave the team.

Gabriel Calderon has already said Perspolis has failed to pay him on time and had demanded them to meet the deadline.

The fans are worried Calderon leave their team in a row over his payment.

Persepolis will face the same fate as Esteghlal if the Argentine coach leaves the team.

Andrea Stramaccioni left Esteghlal in early December after only six months in the job, since the Iranian club were unable to handle problems related to payments “partially due to sanctions”.

Persepolis will host Nassaji on Friday in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium and Calderon and his assistants will leave Tehran on Saturday for vacation and if Persepolis fail to make payments at the correct time, they will not return to Iran.

Persepolis has won Iran Professional League over the past three years and is favorites to win the title for the fourth time in row.

The Reds also are favorites to defend their titles at Iran’s Hazfi Cup.

Persepolis will have to compete at the AFC Champions League from February and it shows they have a busy timetable.

The Iranian giants will face in such a chaotic situation if Calderon quit.

Persepolis keeper Radosevic shown exit door

Radosevic is second choice behind Alireza Beiranvand but he should leave the Iranian team.

The 30-year-old goalie has one year left on his current contract.
Radosevic had joined Persepolis from Hungarian Debreceni VSC in 2016.

He won three Iran Professional League with Persepolis. Radosevic also claimed three Super Cup titles and one Hazfi Cup with the Iranian giants.

Persepolis in hunt for fourth successive title

The Argentine coach replaced Branko Ivankovic on July 1 as head coach of Persepolis football team.

Ivankovic led Persepolis to the Iranian domestic treble last season. Under guidance of the Croat, the Reds experienced their first ever AFC Champions league final as well.
“I am very happy to be here and I am satisfied with what I am doing here. I am also satisfied with the club’s equipment,” Calderon said in the training on Saturday.
“I’ve won the title whenever I’ve coached a big club. I know that to win a title for the fourth time in a row will be very difficult but I believe in my team. We want to keep going,” the 59-year-old coach stated.
“I am a coach who likes attacking football. We will play attacking football in the new season but I also care about defensive football. I am here less than a week but I have good relationship with my all players,” Calderon said.

“Ivankovic did a great job in Persepolis and I am going to continue his winning way in the team. I know it will be a very tough task to repeat the championship but I am here to do that,” Calderon concluded.

Gabriel Calderon signs as new head coach of Persepolis

According to an official statement by Persepolis FC, the final round of talks with the Argentinian coach was held this morning, the details of which will be announced in a press conference within the next 48 hours.

The ex-Argentina midfielder, who has represented Albicelestes in the 1982 and 1990 FIFA World Cups, is familiar with coaching in the region since he has already led Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabian national football teams and coached Saudi clubs Al Hilal and Al Ittihad and Qatari outfit Qatar SC.

He will replace Branko Ivankovic, who left the Iranian club for Saudi Arabi’s Al Ahli.

Ivankovic led Persepolis to the Iranian domestic treble last season. Under the guidance of the Croat, the Reds experienced their first ever AFC Champions League final as well.

Upon his arrival in Tehran on Sunday night, Calderon said he has come to Persepolis to continue the team’s winning way in the last three seasons.

“Persepolis are one of the Asia’s greatest teams with the best supporters in Iran and Asia. We want to win IPL title for the fourth successive time, that’s why I am here,” Tehran Times quoted him as saying.

“We want to improve our quality and I believe that we can do it. I am highly motivated to work with the team because Persepolis are a big club. I can promise the fans that I will do my best and we will display glittering performance in Iran and Asia,” he added.

Persepolis confirm negotiations with Gabriel Calderon

The team’s officials are under pressure after they failed to reach an agreement with Branko Ivankovic.

The Croat led Persepolis to the Iranian domestic treble last season. Under guidance of Ivankovic, the Reds experienced their first ever AFC Champions league final as well.

Ivankovic, who built the most decorated resume of any coach in Persepolis history, is now leading Saudi Arabian football club Al Ahli.

With just one month to go until the Iran new league season kicks off, Persepolis are still without a coach.

Calderon will reportedly pen a contract with Persepolis worth $1 million per year in the next few days.

In the past few days, Persepolis have opened negotiations with several coaches in Istanbul, Turkey.

Greek trainer Takis Lemonis, Croatian coaches Ante Jurcic and Krunoslav “Kruno” Jurcic, Iranian-German Alexander Nouri and Italians Walter Zenga and Massimo Carrera are reportedly linked to the team.
