Iran’s freestyle team makes history at 2024 U23 World Championships

TEHRAN (Iran News) With 158 points, Iran claimed the title of the 2024 U-23 World Championships for the first time in history.

Iran’s freestyle wrestling team finished first at the U23 World Championships with seven medals, including three golds, one silver, and three bronzes.

Mehdi Yousefi, Amir Hossein Firouzpour, and Amir Reza Masoumi snatched gold in the 79kg, 92kg, and 125kg weight classes, respectively.

Mehdi Hajilouian bagged silver in the 97kg weight class. Ali Mo’meni, Ebrahim Khari, and Abbas Ebrahimzadeh secured bronze in the 57kg, 61kg, and 70kg weight classes, respectively.

The 2024 U23 World Championships were held in Tirana, Albania, from October 21-27. Over 650 wrestlers competed, with 240 each in Freestyle and Greco-Roman, and 184 in Women’s wrestling.

Alans wrestling tournament; Iran win two medals

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian freestyle wrestlers claimed two medals at the Alans wrestling tournament. Mohammad Javad Ebrahimi claimed a silver medal at the 92kg and Amirhossein Zare seized a bronze in the 120kg.

The team is headed by Ebrahim Mehrban and Oveis Mallah.

The Alans wrestling tournament in Ossetia is now in its third year and has quickly become one of the toughest in the world. In just two years, there have been six world champions to compete in it and not win.

Iran sent six wrestlers to the competition which was held in Vladikavkaz, Russia from Dec. 5 to 8.

Iranian collect medals in U23 World Wrestling Championships

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s freestyle team gained one gold and one bronze medal on Tuesday night in 2019 edition of the U23 World Wrestling Championships in Hungary.

Mojtaba Goleij gained a commanding 8-2 victory over 2017 U23 World Wrestling Championships Shamil Musaev of Russia in the final of 97kg category to collect his second world title.

Also, Alireza Sarlak defeated Mongolia’s Zanabazar Zandanbud in the bronze contest of 57kg. Cuba’s Reineri Andreu Ortega overpowered Adlan Askarov of Kazakhstan to win the gold medal of this category.
