TEHRAN (Iran News) Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says the Iranian nation is determined to stand against any external threats and coercion.

Baqaei made the remarks during a memorial held in Astaneh-ye Ashrafiyeh, a town located in the northern Province of Gilan, where five citizens were laid to rest after being killed in the Israeli airstrike.

Baqaei paid tribute to the martyred civilians, including women, children, and elderly individuals, terming the attack as shocking in its cruelty and a clear war crime.

He emphasized that the measures are unjustifiable under any standard of international law or morality.

The Iranian people, he said, stand firm against any form of bullying or threat.

Assassination of Iranian scientists is considered cowardly acts that expose the desperation of those who seek to undermine Iran’s scientific advancements.

On June 13, the Israeli regime started airstrikes on Iran, including its nuclear facilities, killing hundreds of scientists, military personnel and civilians. The United States joined the regime’s war against Iran by attacking nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan on June 22.

Iran nuclear deal must include uranium enrichment rights: Foreign Ministry spokesperson

TEHRAN (Iran News) Emphasizing that zero enrichment is completely unacceptable for Iran, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says that Iranian negotiators are not allowed to discuss a plan that disregards Iran’s rights to uranium enrichment.

In an interview on Tuesday night, Baqaei emphasized that uranium enrichment is a scientific and technological matter for Iran, as this capability is essential for the industrial, medical, and research needs of the Iranian nation.

On consortium suggestion

Regarding the suggestion of establishing a consortium to carry out nuclear activities, he said that Iran would support such a plan; however, this does not mean that the Islamic Republic would abandon enrichment within the country.

I.A.E.A. report

He also addressed Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, saying that the Islamic Republic’s nuclear activities have been conducted under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A.). Therefore, its recent report on Iran is viewed as politically motivated, as the report has been prepared based on the political agendas of three European countries (Britain, Germany, and France) along with the United States.

This report has not raised any suspicions regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, but it suggested that Iran should have cooperated more, Baqaei said, adding that this provides the European states and the U.S. with an opportunity to present an anti-Iran draft resolution to the Board of Governors. However, they should understand that such an approach in dealing with Iran will not yield fruitful results, he said.

I.A.E.A. secretary general

Baqaei further stated that I.A.E.A. Secretary General Rafael Grossi has not played a constructive role concerning Iran’s nuclear program. In his recent report, certain statements have been included that could be exploited by some member states, despite their full awareness of the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program.

The spokesperson noted that Grossi conducts interviews that align with the political objectives of states opposing Iran. Grossi is expected to condemn the repeated threats from the Israeli regime and the U.S. against Iran, rather than attempting to justify these threats, he added, saying that such behavior contradicts the responsibilities of the secretary general.

Iran’s performance

Baqaei said that no country in the world has acted as responsibly as the Islamic Republic, and thus there should be no concern regarding the peaceful nature of its nuclear program. He noted that Iran’s nuclear facilities have been inspected 493 times out of a total of 682 inspections conducted by the I.A.E.A. across nearly 32 countries, indicating that approximately 22% of the organization’s inspections have taken place in Iran.
According to Baqaei, Iran has never threatened to withdraw from its peaceful nuclear program, despite facing pressures and threats; however, Iranian nuclear scientists were assassinated and certain states imposed sanctions against Iran at the United Nations Security Council.”Foreign Ministry spokesperson”

So-called concern on Iran

He further said that Iranian authorities have consistently emphasized that nuclear weapons have no place in the Islamic Republic’s military doctrine and that Iran remains committed to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (N.P.T.). However, he noted that Israeli media have been propagating against Iran’s nuclear program for 40 years, continuing to disseminate false information about Iranian nuclear activities.

Although the U.S. and Europe are fully aware that the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program is entirely peaceful, they attempt to maintain tensions and threats in the region to support the Israeli regime and pursue their own political agendas.

Snapback Mechanism

Baqaei said that Europeans have raised the Snapback Mechanism over the past few months, using it as a tool for pressure; however, this indicates that they are not trustworthy.

He reiterated that Iran has never violated its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (J.C.P.O.A.), and therefore, Europeans do not have any legal or moral standing to accuse Iran of violating the deal. He stated that Iran will not give any concession under the pressure of the Snapback Mechanism.

Indirect Iran-U.S. talks

The next round of indirect talks between Iran and the U.S. is scheduled to continue Oman-mediated discussions on Sunday, Baqaei said. However, it should be noted that this round is now set for Sunday, as the other side has a history of changing its stances and statements.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson rejects ‘unfounded’ G7 allegations against Iran

TEHRAN (Iran News) Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has condemned allegations made against Iran by foreign ministers from the group of seven industrialized countries, known as G7, dismissing them as totally unfounded and hypocritical.

Baqaei made the reaction on Saturday a day after G7 top diplomats, at the end of their meeting in Canada’s Charlevoix, accused Iran of sending weapons to Russia to use in the Ukraine war. They also accused Iran of being the “principal source of instability” in the West Asia region, which should “never be allowed to develop and acquire a nuclear weapon.”

Accusing Iran of destabilizing behavior in the region is a clear diversion of facts and an “evil blame-game” by the G7 members, said the spokesperson.

He referred to “unlawful, irresponsible and interfering behaviors” by the G7 member countries in West Asia, especially their military, financial or political support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza, emphasizing that they should be accountable for their improper performance regarding peace in West Asia as well as their complicity in the “clear violation of human rights” in occupied Palestine.

Baqaei also said that Iran is conducting its nuclear activities in accordance with its technical and industrial needs, and based on its international rights and obligations defined under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the Safeguards Agreement.

The G7 group’s expressing concern about Iran’s nuclear activities is unfounded, which merely results from the politicized approach of some of the group’s members, he further said.

The spokesperson added that Iran has been leading efforts to create a Middle East free from nuclear weapons, but Israel remains as the sole obstacle to achieving that goal, as the regime, in light of the comprehensive support of the G7 countries, has continued to develop weapons of mass destruction and remains the most serious threat to international peace and security.

Iran reserves its inherent right to defend its people, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity against any threats and aggression, which requires the country to develop its military-defense capabilities, Baqaei noted.

The Islamic Republic’s defense capabilities, in addition to establish national security, are aimed at protecting peace and security in West Asia, he added.

The spokesperson also rejected allegations of Iran’s delivery of weapons to Russia for use in the Ukraine war.

He reiterated that Iran has no involvement in the war, with the Islamic Republic’s principled policy calling for an end to the conflict through diplomatic negotiations between relevant parties.

Those levelling accusations against Iran should correct their wrong policies instead of putting the blame on others, he added.

Iran firm in its principled positions: Foreign ministry spokesperson

TEHRAN (Iran News) Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esma’eel Baqayi says that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the resistance, but at the same time, it has honestly faced illegal behavior and terrorism.

“We are steadfast in our principled positions,” Baqayi wrote on his X account.

The spokeperson said that not seeing the open and hidden hands of the US and Israel in regional developments is a big mistake.

“It is clear that, according to the Turkish Foreign Minister, “the region must be freed from the culture of one country seeking domination over others; Neither Arabs, nor Turks, nor Kurds, nor Iranians; Neither should seek to dominate, disturb or threaten the other,” but what about Israel?,” Baqayi asked.

The spokesperson recalled that within a few days after the fall of Damascus by Turkiye-backed forces, Israel carried out massive attacks against Syrian military and defense facilities and infrastructure, and even its scientific and research centers, and destroyed more than 90 percent of them. “In addition, Israel once again occupied all the Golan Heights and by continuing its expansionism, it has occupied large and important parts of Syrian territory.”

Baqayi pointed out that Israel now controls the most important water sources in Syria and repeatedly violates its territorial integrity and national sovereignty.

“This is the achievement of a wrong policy for the people of Syria, Palestine and the entire region,” he said.

The spokeperson emphasized that Iran has not pursued any regional ambitions over the past five decades, saying, “All our concern has been supporting the Palestinian people and supporting their ideals in the fight against occupation and aggression and preventing Israeli domination over the region.”

“Today, the issue of Palestine is more alive than ever and Israel is more hated than ever. If it weren’t for the daggers that were stabbed in the back, no one would have dared to talk about the forced migration of the Palestinian people from Gaza and the annexation of the West Bank,” he added.

Baqayi stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the resistance, but at the same time, it has honestly faced illegal behavior and terrorism. “We were the first country to raise the flag of fighting ISIS and violent extremism with the hand of our national hero martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and defeated them in the region.”

“We were the first country to oppose a coup against the Turkish government. We were among the first countries to welcome the abandoning of weapons by P.K.K. and considered it an important step towards strengthening security in our neighboring country, Türkiye,” he added.

He emphasized that Iran is steadfast in its principled positions and does not change positions from one policy to another every day.

“Americans should acknowledge that imposition of sanctions is a failed policy and the excessive use of this trick and wielding dollar like a weapon have called the US credibility and economy into question. The era of recognizing America as a credible economic partner has long passed,” he said in reaction to the White House’s announcement on Friday that it would impose further sanctions on Iran’s Central Bank.

“The announced sanction is not new; rather, it is old sanctions explained differently,” said Mousavi, adding that after the imposition of the first sanctions, which were among the toughest, Iran has found its way to prosper relying on domestic capabilities and cooperation with friend countries.

“America’s foreign policy is a frustrated and confused one which has no basis other than bullying, unilateralism, and conducting economic terrorism against others, and it lacks the required capability to offer any rational and dynamic diplomatic initiative for peaceful settlement of its differences with other countries,” said the spokesman.

“I hope US officials understand that they are no longer the sole economic superpower in the world and there are many countries which are interested in Iran’s market and in the opportunities of establishing good economic ties with Iran,” he said.

Mousavi called on the international community to consider building a new trade and economic system which would minimize the effects of US hostile policies against international free trade.

“Once again, we emphasize that the Iranian nation is a free and peace-loving nation and is ready to engage with all nations and governments that treat it with respect and equal standing,” he added.

The US not only violated its international commitments by withdrawing from Iran nuclear deal, but also damaged its own economy by depriving its companies, especially in aviation sector, of doing business which would worth billions of dollars, he said.

“We have kept the door of interaction open. Now the ball is in Americans’ court. They should bravely admit their mistake about violating the nuclear deal and fulfill their commitments and if this is realized, they can interact with us like other signatories to the deal in the predicted framework of JCPOA.”

US President Donald Trump announced new sanctions against Iran’s Central Bank on Friday describing them as the highest sanctions ever imposed on a foreign country by Washington.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif condemned the new anti-Iranian measure, saying, “The new sanctions are aimed at blocking Iran’s international transactions and its access to food and medicine. This move is unacceptable and dangerous.”

Legal proceedings against UK-flagged Stena Impero are ‘almost finished’ and there remains just ‘two or three formalities’ to take care of before releasing the ship, said Mousavi in his weekly press conference on Monday. He added the release will happen in the coming days.

“This release is not being made because of any third party’s mediation,” he highlighted.

On July 19, IRGC detained the British-flagged ship, Stena Impero, in the Strait of Hormuz for failing to respect international maritime rules.

In early September, Iran announced the release of the ship’s seven crew members on ‘humanitarian grounds’.

Tehran has repeatedly said that the country’s Judiciary branch should decide on the fate of Stena Impero.
