According To Iran News, Bahrain coach Helio Sousa says that his team had its best performance against Iran in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Asian Qualifiers.

Bahrain defeated Iran 1-0 at the Asian qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the victory moved it up to second place in Group C behind front-runner Iraq.

“We’ve improved the players’ defensive performances and they’ve shown themselves to be very responsive to our methods. They implemented what we asked them to do, particularly against Iran, when we had our best performance of the qualifiers,” Sousa said.

Bahrain’s three remaining Group C games are against Cambodia, Iran and Hong Kong.

“There are nine points up for grabs and we’ll do whatever it takes to try and get all nine. Everyone in the squad has assumed their share of responsibility, and they work hard for the national team,” the 50-year-old explained.

“We’re experiencing something unique right now but we must think about the next stage. It’s a great time for me and my team,” the Portuguese added.

“The players were great despite all the circumstances we went through because they are semi-professional.

“We’ve managed to achieve a lot in recent months but we’re still looking for more. We’ve worked very hard to make Bahrain competitive in all tournaments,” Sousa concluded.

According To Iran News, Team Melli will host Cambodia in Tehran in Group C of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.

Marc Wilmots’s team started the campaign with a 2-0 win away at Hong Kong on Matchday Two in Group C.

“It might look an easy match but we should not lose our concentration. We need three points against Cambodia. Sharing the spoils between Iraq and Bahrain was good for us in Matchday Two,” the Zenit St. Petersburg forward said.

“The expectations from Team Melli has raised. I hope we can win the match ahead of our fans,” he added.
