Iran Urges U.S. and Europe to Earn Its Trust

TEHRAN (Iran News) In response to questions about how Iran plans to address international concerns over its nuclear program, Araqchi stated, “It is the United States, the Europeans, and others who must provide assurances that we can exercise our right to peaceful nuclear technology without fear of bombing or attacks. We have been the target of aggression despite following all rules, and our facilities have always been under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supervision with no diversion toward weapons.”

He stressed that building trust is the responsibility of those who have previously undermined Iran’s security, not Tehran. “If they want us to return to diplomacy and cooperate with the IAEA, it is up to them to earn our trust,” Araqhchi said, adding that the U.S. must guarantee that negotiations or cooperation will not be met with further attacks.

Regarding the possibility of resuming talks with the United States, Araqchi said it depends entirely on Washington. “If they change their approach and are prepared for fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial negotiations, we are ready to engage. Our experience with U.S. negotiations has not been positive, as seen when the U.S. withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal without justification and again disrupted discussions in 2025.”

Araqchi highlighted that an acceptable negotiation framework must recognize Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear technology, including uranium enrichment. He pointed out that Iran has already implemented measures beyond the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the Additional Protocol to ensure transparency, yet the U.S. unilaterally abandoned the 2015 agreement.

Addressing the impact of sanctions, Araqchi acknowledged the economic pressures but framed Iran’s nuclear program as a matter of national pride and dignity. “The technology was developed by our scientists at great cost, including sanctions, war, over a thousand martyrs, and targeted assassinations. We cannot abandon it; it is tied to the honor and pride of the Iranian people,” he said.

Araqchi also discussed the aftermath of attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities during the 12-day conflict, which caused significant damage under IAEA supervision. “There is no precedent for bombing a peaceful nuclear facility. We must establish inspection protocols for such damaged facilities, and negotiations with the IAEA are ongoing to set a cooperative framework,” he explained.

On the prospect of collaboration with Japan, Araqchi noted Japan’s extensive experience with nuclear safety, including the Fukushima disaster, and expressed confidence that knowledge-sharing could be highly beneficial. He emphasized that Iran possesses the technology, skilled scientists, and technicians to continue its peaceful nuclear program, and is determined to do so.

Concerning inspections, Araqchi clarified that they are the responsibility of the IAEA and cannot resume fully until safety and security concerns are addressed. However, he reaffirmed Iran’s willingness to accept time-limited monitoring and enrichment restrictions to build confidence in its peaceful program, while maintaining that Iran will never pursue nuclear weapons. “Europe ”

Regarding bilateral relations, Araqchi praised Iran-Japan ties as long-standing, friendly, and mutually respectful. He highlighted Japan’s historical role in supporting Iran’s post-2015 nuclear deal recovery and emphasized that economic relations could quickly return to normal once sanctions are lifted.

In conclusion, Araqchi reiterated that Iran remains fully committed to its peaceful nuclear program, willing to cooperate internationally under the right conditions, and expects that trust-building measures by the U.S., Europe, and other stakeholders will pave the way for renewed diplomacy and a secure, monitored nuclear framework.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has stressed that reaching an agreement with Iran requires avoiding unrealistic and illogical positions.

Araqchi made the remarkd in a telephone phone conversation with the EU high representative for foreign and security policy, Kaja Kallas, on Monday.

Araqchi informed Kallas of the latest developments regarding indirect talks between Iran and the United States.

He also said that Tehran is ready for talks with major European powers to resolve their concerns over the possibility of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons.

Araqchi said Iran is ready to continue interactions with thr European parties, both within the framework of the European Union and the three European countries.

He expressed hope that Iran and the three European countries would resume talks based on a constructive approach free from political spite.

The top Iranian negotiator said the country has chosen a responsible approach in following the path of diplomacy to address the artificial concerns surrounding its peaceful nuclear program, stressing the need to pursue the path through serious will and realism.

If it is claimed that the possibility of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons is the sole concern of the sides in the negotiations, “this concern can be eased”, Araqchi said.

“It is quite possible to reach an agreement in this regard but it requires avoidance of unrealistic and irrational positions,” he said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday, Araghchi emphasized, “We had nuclear talks with the Europeans,” and clarified that Iran is not involved in any other negotiations at this time.

In a related development, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi wrote on his X account on Tuesday, that he and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi had held open and constructive discussions with European Union foreign policy official Enrique Mora and his team in Geneva.

“We exchanged views mainly on nuclear/sanctions lifting as well as other issues of mutual interest. We also addressed Europe’s support for Israeli crimes in Gaza.” “Europe”

Fresh talks between Iran and the European trio – Britain, France, and Germany – were set for January 13, 2025, in Switzerland.

Before these talks, negotiations between Iran and the European troika took place in the Swiss capital last November, while Araghchi described the Geneva talks as a “brainstorming” session. Both sides have agreed to continue diplomatic discussions to resolve misunderstandings.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Pourfarzaneh made the announcement during a news conference in Tehran on Monday, saying that the first flight will be carried out from Tehran to Paris on February 31.

The Tehran-Paris flight is set to be carried out by Iranian private airline, Iran Airtour Airlines, the official said.

Another Iranian airline, Qeshm Air, will also carry out flights to “two European destinations”, he further said, but added that details will be announced later.

Flights between Iran and Europe were suspended in mid-October 2024 after the EU imposed sanctions on the Islamic Republic over allegations that it had sent drones to Russia for use in the Ukraine war. Iran vehemently denied the allegations.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Highlighting the active and pioneering role of women in Iran’s comprehensive development, Marzieh Afkham condemned the resolution as biased.

“The clear trend of increasing social participation and dynamic presence of women in various social, economic, and political fields, supported by growing statistics and accurate documentation, reflect the realities of contemporary Iranian society,” she added.

“Biased resolutions like this cannot distort or ignore the positive trajectory of women’s and girls’ involvement in the Islamic of Republic Iran,” she noted, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Afkham then pointed to the global public anger, especially in the European societies, over their governments’ continued support for a regime accused of crimes against humanity and genocide, with innocent women and children in Gaza forming the majority of the casualties.

“Unfortunately, the European Parliament, which considers itself a symbol of democracy and a reflection of the concerns of the European people, has turned a blind eye to public protests against the dark record of the apartheid regime of Israel and the violation of the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people and continues to follow a biased, dual, and political approach,” she said.

She decried the political motives of the initiators and drafters of such unfounded and one-sided resolutions, saying, “The European Parliament’s deliberate efforts to misrepresent Iran’s social developments are repetitive and going down the wrong path.”

In order to maintain credibility and respect for their own people, the European institutions should reflect the true demands of public opinion in Europe by condemning and protesting the organized killing of innocent Palestinian women and children and pushing for the cessation of crimes and punishment of the Zionist regime’s leaders, Afkham underlined.

Gharibabadi noted that he and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi have “had a frank discussion with Enrique Mora on a variety of issues, including the perspective of nuclear and sanctions lifting negotiations in light of recent developments.”

“It was reaffirmed to him that EU should abandon its self-centered and irresponsible behavior towards issues and challenges of this continent and international matters,” he said.

“Europe should not project its own problems and mistakes onto others, including with regard to the conflict in Ukraine. With their complicit behavior towards the ongoing genocide in Gaza, Europe -specifically the three major countries- lack any moral ground to preach others on human rights,” Gharibabadi stated.

“Similarly, with regard to the nuclear issue of Iran, Europe has failed to be a serious player due to lack of self-confidence and responsibility. Europe is in need of self-recovery,” he underlined.

TEHRAN (Iran News) A group of academic elites and outstanding scientific talents met with Ayatollah Khamenei at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah of Tehran on Wednesday, October 2.

The Leader initiated the meeting by speaking about the recent loss of Hezbollah’s Leader, Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was martyred in Beirut in an Israeli strike on September 27.

“We are in mourning these days. I, in particular, am deeply grieved. The loss of Mr. Seyed Hassan Nasrallah is not a small matter. Even though the atmosphere in the country is one of public mourning, I chose not to postpone this meeting with the elites, which had already been planned,” he stated.

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the reason for holding the meeting of elites at the scheduled time, stating, “The message of this gathering is that even though we are in mourning, this does not mean that we should just sit in a corner and wallow in despair. Rather, our mourning is of the same nature as that of Imam Hussain (AS). It is reviving, propelling, and it inspires enthusiasm for work and progress.”

The Leader emphasized, “The root of the problem and the fundamental cause of conflicts and wars in the region lies is the presence of the United States and certain European countries that falsely advocate for peace and tranquility. If they leave this region, the conflicts and wars would come to an end, allowing the countries to manage their affairs and coexist in peace and prosperity.”

He considered Saddam Hussein’s instigation to attack Iran and the ensuing bitter and difficult days as an example of the warmongering of the United States and the West in the region. In the same context, Ayatollah Khamenei remarked, “The current friendship between the two countries, Iran and Iraq, of which the pinnacle is manifested in the great Arbaeen Walk, clearly demonstrates that the primary obstacle to peace in the region stems from those who falsely claim to seek it. We remain hopeful that, with God’s help, the determination of the Iranian people, the inspiration drawn from the Islamic Revolution, and collaboration with other nations, will, God willing, lead to the departure of our enemies from the region.”

The Leader addressed three issues relevant to the subject of the meeting: Recognizing gifted individuals in the country, preserving and multiplying these talents and the duties and responsibilities of the elite.

He regarded elite individuals and the conditions necessary for cultivating talent as among the country’s most valuable assets. Referring to the neglect of elite individuals and talent development during the reign of the Pahlavi regime, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that while the Revolution brought more attention to the capabilities of talented individuals, this focus needs to be intensified by involving them more actively in various sectors including water, oil, gas, nuclear energy, nanotechnology, and new sciences such as artificial intelligence.

The Leader highlighted the responsibilities of the country’s elites, stating, “The duties of the elites are more significant than those of the general populace, as they enjoy greater divine blessings and advantages, including knowledge, honor, and wealth.”

Highlighting the swift pace of scientific progress worldwide, the Leader urged intellectuals to embark in a jihad for a scientific uprising. The country, he remarked, needs a new scientific movement and leap, a responsibility that rests primarily on the shoulders of intellectuals. “Of course, scientific and research centers are also responsible in this regard, but the individual elite is the key factor.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also emphasized that a new scientific movement and leap would lead to superiority over rivals and ill-wishers. He highlighted that achieving scientific and technological superiority would significantly diminish the enemy’s capacity to harm the people of Gaza and Beirut’s Dahiyah district. This, he emphasized, would help avert provocations that would break the hearts of the people and the youth.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Speaking to reporters at a weekly press conference on Monday, Kanaani bemoaned the lack of sufficient dynamism in the relations between Iran and Europe considering their capacities.

Asked about Europe’s cold response to the result of the recent presidential elections in Iran, the spokesman said the cold relations or the failure to employ the existing capacities result from “Europe’s miscalculations or bowing to pressure from the US”.

Kanaani stated that the bilateral relations will definitely improve if the European governments adopt independent policies towards Iran and rid themselves of US influence.

Asked about the US presidential election result’s impact on Iran’s foreign policy, the spokesman reiterated that Tehran does not care who is in charge of the US administrations.

What matters is that the US has taken a hostile policy against Iran, Kanaani noted, adding, “A fundamental change in the US’ hostile policies could change the atmosphere.”

In remarks in September 2019, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said the way to establish relations with Europe is open, but the Iranian officials should by no means trust the countries that openly show hostility.

Highlighting the potentials for establishing ties with other countries of the world, the Leader asserted, “One point about Europe and the foreign policy affairs is that we have not closed the door for establishing relations and negotiating with any country in the world, apart from the Zionist Regime and the US.”

The Leader called on Iranian officials to avoid relying on the European heads of states, adding, “But, as frequently mentioned before, we should not at all place hope and trust on anyone except for the domestic forces, in particular, not on those that have raised the flag of hostility against the Islamic Republic and the Islamic establishment, firstly led by the US, and next by the European countries.”
