Esteghlal Khuzestan Beats Zob Ahan in Iran’s League

TEHRAN (Iran News) In the match, held at the Foolad Arena in Ahvaz, Hojat Ahmadi and Amir Hossein Jalalivand scored two goals for the host to seal a home win.

Esteghlal Khuzestan moved up to 10th in the 16-team table, while Zob Ahan remained 13th, two points above relegation zone.

On Friday, rock-bottom Mes will host Persepolis in Rafsanjan, Aluminum meet Malavan in Arak, Shams Azar face Tractor in Qazvin and Fajr Sepasi play Foolad in Shiraz.

Sepahan leads the table with 27 points, two points above Persepolis.

Pourmousavi Steps Down as Esteghlal Khuzestan Coach

Just one day after appointing as Esteghlal Khuzestan coach, Sirous Pourmousavi stepped down from his role.

On Friday, Pourmousavi replaced Dariush Yazdi in the Ahvaz-based football club.

On Saturday, he changed his mind and quit his role.

Esteghlal Khuzestan will face Esteghlal on Sunday at Ahvaz’s Ghadir Stadium, while the team will be headed by Yazdi’s assistants.

Esteghlal Khuzestan sits bottom of Iran Professional League (IPL) table with four points from 12 matches.

Persepolis Held by Esteghlal Khuzestan: IPL

Persepolis football team and Esteghlal Khuzestan played out a goalless draw in Iran Professional League (IPL) on Thursday.

In the match held in Iran’s southwestern city of Ahvaz’s Ghadir Stadium, titleholder Persepolis was lackluster and failed to create goal scoring chances.

In Tehran, Ali Daei’s Saipa drew 0-0 with Zob Ahan.

And Nassaji of Mazandaran failed to earn its first victory after three weeks and was held to a 1-1 draw by Pars Jonoubi in Ghaemshahr.

On Friday, Esteghlal will host Tractor Sazi in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Padideh play Sanat Naft, Naft Masjed Soleyman meet Foolad and Sephana host Paykan.

Paykan Misses Chance to Move Iran League Top

Paykan football team lost to Esteghlal Khuzestan and missed a chance to provisionally go top of the Iran Professional League (IPL).

On Friday, Esteghlal Khuzestan defeated visiting team Paykan 1-0 thanks to a goal from Claudir in the 73rd minute.

Furthermore, Sanat Naft earned a late 3-2 victory against Sepahan and Padideh defeated Naft Tehran 3-1 in Mashhad.

The match between Tractor Sazi and Sepidrood was suspended due to the heavy snow.

On Saturday, Zob Ahan will host Foolad, Pars Jonoubi play Persepolis in the week’s most thrilling match, Saipa meet Siahjamegan, Esteghlal host Gostaresh Foolad and Tractor Sazi play Sepidrood.
