TEHRAN (Iran News)  Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has once again hailed the Iranian nation for their steadfastness and resilience during the recent unprovoked 12-day Israeli war against the Islamic Republic.

Joining Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei during a weekly press briefing on Monday, Araqchi said that the Israeli regime, with the support of some world powers, launched open aggression but they failed to achieve their goals due to the steadfastness of the Iranian people.

“This war will undoubtedly be one of the lasting and unforgettable points in the contemporary history of Iran. The Iranian people have shown once again they are more rooted and steadfast than to be uprooted by such winds or even storms”, he underscored, saying “This nation has roots in a history of several thousand years and is tied with sacrifice, perseverance and faith.”

The top diplomat also extended his condolences to the families of martyrs, including Nima Rajabpour, a news editor of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the IRIB’s central building in Tehran.

Praising Iranian journalists for their courage, Araqchi said the country had witnessed many memorable scenes of their selfless and professional presence in different arenas.

The foreign minister likened journalists with diplomats, saying they are companions and allies as the fields of diplomacy and media are complementary.

“In Mazar-e-Sharif, diplomats and journalists stood side by side and died in fulfilling their missions but journalists were smarter than us to register that day in their name,” Araqchi referred to Journalist Day marked on August 8th, a day when Mahmoud Saremi was killed along with a group of diplomats in Afghanistan in 1998.

At the end, Araqchi wished success to all media personnel, including foreign journalists present at the press conference. “We are grateful to our colleagues in the IRIB, both journalists and officials, who kept the national media alive in the most difficult conditions, under the rain of bombs and missiles, and did not allow the enemy to reach its goal,” he added.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has strongly condemned the latest Israeli “terrorist attacks” against Lebanon.

Baqaei made the reaction on Monday after Israel struck multiple locations in Lebanon late on Sunday, including the town of Bourj Rahal and al-Zarariyah near Sidon, both located in south of the country.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health said that the attacks left 10 people injured, including a child. The strikes marked Israel’s latest violation of a ceasefire with Lebanon, which came into force in late November last year.

“The continuous violation of the ceasefire and the ongoing terrorist attacks against Lebanon constitute a blatant violation of the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of an independent country, and are against the fundamental principles of international law,” Baqaei said, according to a news release on the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s official Telegram account.

The Israeli regime is directly targeting the security of Lebanese citizens and the country’s economic stability, he further said.

The spokesperson added that the timing of the Israeli regime’s military attacks, which coincide with the summer tourism season and the Lebanese government’s plans to revive its economy through tourism, clearly indicates Israel’s intent to sabotage Lebanon’s economic recovery and public welfare.

He criticized the inaction of the international community, the United Nations, and Western guarantors of the ceasefire in Lebanon over the Israeli regime’s aggressive actions against that country.

The Iranian diplomat also warned of the dangerous consequences of Israeli expansionism for security and stability across the entire region.

Baqaei made the remarks on Monday a day after Israel struck various regions in Yemen, including the ports of al-Hodeidah, Ras Isa, and as-Salif, as well as the Ras Kathib power plant, in the latest act of aggression against the Arab country.

He described the repeated aggression by the Israeli regime against Yemen’s economic and public infrastructure, including ports, power plants, and food storage facilities, as a blatant crime against the Yemeni people, according to a news release by the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s official Telegram page.

Baqaei called on the United Nations Security Council to cease its inaction over the Israeli regime’s crimes against the people of Yemen.

The contiguous impunity enjoyed by Israel, in light of support it receives from the U.S. and some other Western countries, is the primary factor driving the regime’s aggression and atrocities against regional nations, he said.

The Iranian diplomat added that all governments in the region and beyond have a moral and legal responsibility to stand against the genocide in occupied Palestine and to hold Israeli officials accountable for the regime’s “heinous crimes.”

TEHRAN (Iran News)  Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has demanded the West’s accountability for the use of chemical weapons during the Iran-Iraq War, urging Germany to reveal its part in arming former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein with such weapons.

Baqaei issued the call in a post on his X account on Saturday, saying, “Today marks the anniversary of a chemical attack in the Iranian city of Sardasht where the toppled regime of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein killed at least 110 people and wounded 8,000 others on June 28, 1987.”

“Germany must accept its legal and moral responsibility by revealing the truth about its role in Iraq’s chemical weapons program,” he said.

The spokesperson noted that the painful event in Sardasht was not the first of its kind, as the Iraqi dictator repeatedly attacked Iranian soldiers and civilians using chemical gases, without being held accountable or punished by the international community.

On that day, dozens of civilians were killed, and many more were badly hurt, as Iraqi forces dropped deadly gas bombs on the city.

Sardasht, located in Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province, was the first city to be targeted with chemical weapons after World War II, wrote Baqaei on Saturday to mark the anniversary of a chemical attack in the Iranian city of Sardasht where the toppled regime of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein killed at least 110 people and wounded 8,000 others on June 28, 1987.

The weapons were made in industrial countries that claimed to support peace and human rights, but they were donated to Saddam Hussein’s regime during the Iran-Iraq war, known as the Sacred Defense in Iran.

Many people in Sardasht still suffer from the consequences of those attacks, he said, adding that survivors struggle with breathing problems that have not gone away even after nearly four decades.

But back then, the world said almost nothing. The voices of the people of Sardasht were lost in the noise of international politics, he noted.

The same silence continues against the scenes of the Gaza Strip, he said.

The diplomat said that Iran would neither forget what happened in Sardasht nor forgive the perpetrators.

TEHRAN (Iran News)  Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir-Saeid Iravani, says that the Islamic Republic insists on carrying out the uranium enrichment within its territory.

In an interview with Al-Monitor which was published on Friday, Iravani said that Iran insists that enrichment must be carried out in the Iranian soil.

Establishing a consortium to carry out nuclear activities may act as a complement, he said, noting that it will never replace domestic program in this regard.

Iran has always sought a peaceful solution to address possible concerns about its peaceful nuclear program, the envoy said.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (J.C.P.O.A.) was achieved on exactly the same basis, Iravani said, noting that Iran continues to comply with the same principles.
